Dire is the sixth and hardest difficulty in Stygian Onslaught, and Version 7.0 pairs it with three bosses that each demand a completely separate roster. The run below clears all three battlefields with Geo and Cryo-leaning teams built around Traveler, Navia, and Arataki Itto rather than the Stellar and Lunar-Charged compositions the bosses are designed around, which is only possible because every character is heavily invested.
Quick answer: Three teams clear 7.0 Dire in 255 seconds total — Chimeric Winged Lion in 89s, Veteran Wind Operative in 107s, and Knuckle Duckle in 59s. That earns the Dire completion reward, but not the 180-second Sublimation skin.
Dire difficulty rules that shape your three teams
Dire runs at enemy level 110 and strips away the safety nets that lower tiers hand out. You cannot lean on borrowed strength here, and you cannot recycle a strong carry across battlefields, so twelve distinct characters need to be combat-ready at once.
| Rule | Effect on your run |
|---|---|
| Enemy level | 110, with far higher HP and damage than Fearless |
| Character reuse | Blocked — no character may appear in more than one battlefield |
| Shared gear | Reusing a weapon or artifact from a cleared stage triggers a warning and wipes that stage’s record |
| Exalted Ones | Eminent Boon buffs are disabled on Dire |
| Per-boss timer | 2 minutes for each individual battlefield |
| Mode | Single-player only for rewards; Fearless must already be cleared solo |
Two rewards sit at the top. Clearing Dire in single-player grants the Radiant Phantasm: Incursion Repeller weapon skin, and finishing all three battlefields within 180 seconds total adds the Sublimation variant with an extra glow. A 255-second clear takes the first and misses the second by 75 seconds.

Every stage in 7.0 is gated behind a shield or ward mechanic before raw damage matters. Understanding which reaction breaks each gate is what turns a two-minute grind into a sub-90-second clear.
| Boss | Dire HP | Gate you have to break |
|---|---|---|
| Chimeric Winged Lion | 23.35 million | A 40-gauge Electro shield. Elemental reactions chip it, and a Stellar reaction removes 16 units instantly. Once broken, it takes stored damage and drops Cryo and Anemo RES. |
| Veteran Wind Operative | 17.5 million | A White Damage Shield from Hunt Down, which also applies an unhealable Bond of Life to the whole party. Vaporize and Melt multipliers do not apply to the shield. |
| Knuckle Duckle | 25.9 million | A White Damage Shield plus extreme RES. Kill the Stomping Devices to drop the ward; Electro-Charged and Lunar-Charged hits dismantle them fastest. |
The Wind Operative deals Anemo damage rather than Cryo this cycle, which quietly helps teams without Bennett since no Cryo aura sticks to your characters. Either dodge the Hunt Down attack or hold a shield through it, otherwise she heals and drops a heavy damage-over-time debuff on your active character.
The 255-second Dire clear, battlefield by battlefield
The first battlefield takes the Chimeric Winged Lion down in 89 seconds with Alyosha (Freminet), Escoffier (Furina), Odette (Emilie), and Traveler. The result screen labels the objective Power Overwhelming and logs the elapsed time before you return to the challenge menu.

Battlefield two is the slowest of the three at 107 seconds against the Veteran Wind Operative, using Linnea (Charlotte), Ineffa (Eula), Columbina (Layla), and Navia. Because the shield can go back up roughly three times per fight, burst windows have to line up with each shield phase rather than being dumped early.

The fastest stage is the last. Knuckle Duckle falls in 59 seconds to Durin (Albedo), Nicole (Ningguang), Xilonen, and Arataki Itto, a fully Geo-flavoured team that brute-forces a boss normally reserved for Lunar-Charged setups. Once the third stage ends, the Challenge Completed screen confirms the full Dire run.

Full build sheets for all twelve characters
Team 1: Chimeric Winged Lion
| Character | Weapon | Artifacts (4) | Key stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alyosha (Freminet), Lv. 80 | Favonius Lance R5 | Heart of the Furnace | ATK 1,485 / 64.1% CR / 62.4% CD / 260.3% ER |
| Escoffier (Furina), Lv. 90 | Symphonist of Scents R1 | Tenacity of the Millelith | HP 21,843 / 93.4% CR / 156.6% CD / 189.4% ER |
| Odette (Emilie), Lv. 90 | Light of Foliar Incision R1 | Disenchantment in Deep Shadows | ATK 2,268 / 74.3% CR / 258.2% CD |
| Traveler, Lv. 100 | Exaiphanes Blade R3 | Disenchantment in Deep Shadows | ATK 1,488 / 71.9% CR / 200.0% CD / 112.3% ER |
Alyosha’s Favonius Lance at R5 and a 260.3% Energy Recharge stat line exist to keep the rest of the team funded, since Dire strips your party of all energy at the start of a stage.
Team 2: Veteran Wind Operative, with Navia
| Character | Weapon | Artifacts (4) | Key stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linnea (Charlotte), Lv. 90 | Golden Frostbound Oath R1 | Aubade of Morningstar and Moon | DEF 2,344 / 96.5% CR / 197.3% CD |
| Ineffa (Eula), Lv. 90 | Fractured Halo R1 | Tenacity of the Millelith | ATK 2,411 / 101.6% CR / 190.0% CD |
| Columbina (Layla), Lv. 100 | Favonius Codex R5 | Silken Moon’s Serenade | HP 44,231 / 79.0% CR / 169.7% ER |
| Navia, Lv. 90 | Verdict R1 | Night of the Sky’s Unveiling | ATK 2,107 / 76.4% CR / 204.2% CD / 123.3% ER |
Navia scales on ATK, not DEF, and her damage is concentrated in Ceremonial Crystalshot. Consuming three or more Crystal Shrapnel stacks fires all 11 Rosula Shardshots, and landing every projectile on one target doubles the base damage, so the shotgun needs to be pressed at point-blank range. Verdict rewards exactly that loop, adding 20% ATK plus a stacking 18% Elemental Skill DMG seal each time the party picks up a Crystallize shard.
Her fourth ascension passive, Mutual Assistance Network, grants 20% ATK for each Pyro, Electro, Cryo, or Hydro teammate up to two stacks, which a mixed support line fills automatically. Her burst then feeds a Crystal Shrapnel stack every 2.4 seconds while the cannon support is hitting, keeping the next shotgun loaded.
Team 3: Knuckle Duckle, with Arataki Itto
| Character | Weapon | Artifacts (4) | Key stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durin (Albedo), Lv. 100 | Athame Artis R1 | Noblesse Oblige | ATK 2,587 / 84.7% CR / 145.9% CD / 170.6% ER |
| Nicole (Ningguang), Lv. 100 | Angelos’ Heptades R5 | Celestial Gift | ATK 4,845 / 18.2% CR / 58.2% CD |
| Xilonen, Lv. 90 | Favonius Sword R5 | Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City | DEF 3,254 / 207.2% ER |
| Arataki Itto, Lv. 100 | Redhorn Stonethresher R4 | Husk of Opulent Dreams | DEF 2,454 / 89.9% CR / 185.6% CD |
Nicole is built as a pure ATK battery at 4,845 ATK with almost no CRIT, while Xilonen and Itto both sit above 2,400 DEF. That is the vertical investment Knuckle Duckle demands when you skip the Lunar-Charged route: the Stomping Devices still have to die, but they die to damage instead of reaction counters.
Testing each rotation against a Ruin Guard
Before committing a team to a Dire attempt, it is worth running the rotation against a stationary target so you can see whether your damage window actually fits inside the two-minute cap. The Arena Manager lets you configure a Ruin Guard and start the stage on demand.

Run the full rotation once per team, then use the green Complete stage & exit button to end the test and swap the next group in. Each of the three teams gets its own pass, which makes it easy to compare how quickly Traveler’s, Navia’s, and Itto’s damage windows come online.

What wipes a Dire record after you clear it
A cleared stage is not locked in permanently. If you later move a character who cleared one battlefield into another, or equip a different character with a weapon or artifact piece that a clearing character used, the game warns you first. Confirming past that warning erases the earlier record, though one-time rewards you already claimed stay claimed.
Two other things commonly stall a Dire attempt. Rewards only register in single-player, so a co-op clear on Dire does not count, and characters enter each stage with no energy at all, which is why heavy Energy Recharge on batteries like Alyosha and Xilonen is doing real work rather than padding stats.
Note: clearing Dire solo also grants Eminence to the characters you used, which is how the server-wide Exalted Ones pool refreshes each day for lower difficulties.
The 7.0 cycle of Stygian Onslaught runs until September 22, 2026, and the weapon skins it hands out expire with it rather than carrying over. The following cycle opens on September 30, 2026 with a fresh boss lineup, so a 255-second clear is worth banking now if you are still chasing the 180-second Sublimation variant on this rotation.
