Time needed: 10 minutes.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are now available to pre-order in many countries. The devices will begin shipping from September 21st and will also hit the offline stores on the same date.

When you get your iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, make sure that you have a nano-SIM card with you. If you bought it from a carrier, the chances are your iPhone XS will come with a SIM card already inserted in the SIM tray.

Your iPhone is automatically activated during the set up process if you insert a SIM into the device prior to set up.

  1. Power Off your iPhone XS

Before we get started, make sure your iPhone XS is powered off.

  2. Insert SIM card into your iPhone

If you bought an unlocked iPhone XS OR if your carrier didn’t pre-install the SIM on your device, then insert a nano-SIM card into it. Open the SIM tray on the right side of your iPhone using a SIM eject tool, insert a nano-SIM card into the tray, and put it back in.

  3. Power on your iPhone and set it up

Switch on your iPhone XS and set it up as you like. Don’t forget to connect it to a WiFi network while setting it up to ensure a smooth activation of your new iPhone.
