Apple has finally released the native Apple Music app for Windows, along with the Apple Devices and Apple TV apps. So, if you're an Apple Music subscriber, you can now enjoy the app interface on your Windows PC as well. You can access millions of songs, playlists, and more right from your desktop with the app, which is available in the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 version 19045.0 or higher.
One of the nifty features that enhance the listening experience in the Apple Music app is the Mini Player. With the Mini Player, you get a compact version of the main interface that allows you to play, pause, skip tracks, adjust volume, and do much more without obscuring the entire screen.
To enable/ disable the Mini Player in the Apple Music app, here's what you need to do.
- Open the Apple Music app on your Windows PC.
- Then, play a song from your library, playlist, radio, etc. But a song needs to be playing before you can kick the Mini Player into action.
- Then, go to the top of the Apple Music window where the options for the currently playing song appear, and hover over the artwork thumbnail.
- Then, click the 'Switch to the Mini Player' icon that appears.
- You can also use the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl
+Shift
+M
to enable the Mini Player. - Alternatively, you can click the 'Sidebar Actions' button (...) and select 'Switch to Mini Player' from the menu.
- The Mini Player will appear on your screen. You can play/ pause and scrub the current song, adjust the sound, skip to the previous/ next song, view the lyrics, and view and edit the upcoming songs from the Mini Player.
You can also expand the artwork by hovering on the thumbnail in the Mini Player and clicking the 'Expand Album' button.
- Click the 'Collapse Album' button to return to the original state.
- To disable the Mini Player, click the 'Close' (X) button in the top-right corner of the Mini Player window.
- Then, you'll need to click the 'Apple Music' app icon from the taskbar to open the main window again. Unlike Mac, closing the Mini Player does not automatically open the main window in Windows (yet).
- If you want the Mini Player window to appear on top of all other windows, then open the main Apple Music window.
- Click the 'Sidebar Actions' button and go to 'Settings'.
- Then, navigate to the 'Advanced' settings.
- Enable the toggle for 'Keep Mini Player on top of all other windows'.
Apple Music's Mini Player can help you save desktop space and manage your music without distraction. Whether you're all about the full app experience or prefer the minimalist approach, Apple Music's flexible interface caters to your needs.
