The Kingdom Hearts crossover is live in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, and Sora is the one character you can add to your locker without paying. Epic is handing the outfit to top competitive finishers in a single-day tournament, while everyone else can buy it from the Item Shop. Here is exactly what it takes to earn Sora for free.
Quick answer: Finish inside your region’s placement cut-off in the solo Kingdom Hearts Cup on September 18, 2026 (Battle Royale, Zero Build, or Reload) to unlock the Sora Outfit. Scoring 8 points in any eligible mode also earns the Glowing Keyhole Spray.

Kingdom Hearts Cup format and how to enter
The cup is a solo event, so there are no duos or squads to coordinate. It runs in three flavors: Solo Battle Royale, Solo Zero Build, and a separate Solo Reload session for mobile players. The Battle Royale and Zero Build windows overlap, which means you have to pick one and commit to it.
- Battle Royale and Zero Build run in a three-hour window per region.
- The Reload (mobile) session runs about 75 minutes and starts earlier than the main cup.
- Start times are staggered by region, so open the in-game Compete tab and check your server’s exact window.
- You must meet Fortnite’s minimum age requirement and have two-factor authentication enabled to sign up.
Your score is built from a mix of match placement and eliminations, so surviving deep into games matters most, but knocks push you up the leaderboard too. There is no entry fee, and rewards are distributed after the event ends rather than the moment you hit the threshold.

Bigger regions get more winners, so the cut-off is looser in Europe and North America and much tighter in smaller regions. These thresholds apply to the standard Battle Royale and Zero Build cups.
| Region | Placement for Sora |
|---|---|
| Europe (EU) | Top 1,000 |
| North America Central (NAC) | Top 700 |
| North America West (NAW) | Top 200 |
| Brazil (BR) | Top 200 |
| Asia | Top 100 |
| Middle East (ME) | Top 100 |
| Oceania (OCE) | Top 100 |
The Reload (mobile) cup has smaller qualifying pools, so its cut-offs are lower and set separately per region. Because that session lasts only 75 minutes, mobile players need to score aggressively early.
Exact placement numbers and start times are configured per region and can be adjusted before matches begin. Confirm your server’s requirement in the in-game Compete tab before you queue.

The easier reward: Glowing Keyhole Spray
If a top finish is out of reach, there is a far more forgiving target. Earning 8 points during any eligible cup session unlocks the Glowing Keyhole Spray, and it does not matter where you finish on the leaderboard. In the three-hour Battle Royale and Zero Build cups, that total is realistic for most players. If you are still chasing Sora, keep playing for the highest placement instead of stopping at eight points.
You will know it worked when the Sora Outfit and any earned cosmetics appear in your locker after the event concludes. Rewards are not granted mid-match, so do not expect them to pop the instant you hit the score.
Buy Sora from the Item Shop if you miss the cut
The crossover arrived on September 17, 2026 with the v42.20 update, and all four characters went straight into the Item Shop. If you don’t place high enough, buying Sora is the guaranteed route.

Only Sora is available for free through the cup. Kairi, Riku, and Roxas are Item Shop purchases at 1,600 V-Bucks each. If you want the whole set, the full bundle is the value pick at 4,500 V-Bucks, well below the combined cost of buying every skin separately.
| Item | Price (V-Bucks) |
|---|---|
| Kingdom Hearts Bundle (all four skins and cosmetics) | 4,500 |
| Sora Outfit + Kingdom Key Pickaxe + Back Bling | 1,800 |
| Kingdom Key Pickaxe + Back Bling | 800 |
| Keyblade Flourish Emote | 300 |
When the Sora cosmetics leave the shop
The Item Shop is set to remove the Kingdom Hearts cosmetics at its October 1, 2026 reset, with no confirmed date for another appearance. Since the free cup is available only on September 18, missing it leaves a shop purchase before that reset as the sole way to obtain Sora. Therefore, act on both the tournament and purchase cutoff instead of waiting.
