Grab a key on Terrapin Island, crack open a bunker on Birch Cay, and finish Carbon's chip run for a free rod.

Grab a key on Terrapin Island, crack open a bunker on Birch Cay, and finish Carbon’s chip run for a free rod.

The Cheeto Rod is a free reward in Fisch, but it does not just sit on a shelf waiting for you. Claiming it means hopping between two islands, tracking down a hidden key, opening a locked bunker, and squeezing through a secret wall to finish a short NPC quest. The whole run takes about five minutes once you know the route.

Quick answer: Pick up the Rusted Bunker Key at the top of Terrapin Island, sail to Birch Cay, use the key to open the central bunker, then talk to the NPC Carbon and bring him the Bag of Chips hidden behind the secret wall in the right corner of the room.

Where to find the Rusted Bunker Key on Terrapin Island

Everything starts on Terrapin Island, the one shaped like a giant turtle. The key you need is sitting out in the open, but only if you climb high enough.

Sail to Terrapin Island and make your way to the very top, which is the turtle’s head. Walk along the edge up there and you will spot the Rusted Bunker Key waiting to be picked up. Grab it before you leave.

Open the bunker and finish Carbon’s quest on Birch Cay

The rest of the run happens on Birch Cay, where the bunker and the quest giver are waiting. Keep the Rusted Bunker Key in your inventory the whole time, since the door stays locked without it.

Get back on your boat and sail to Birch Cay. Head to the center of the island, where you will find the bunker. Use the Rusted Bunker Key to unlock it and step inside.
Talk to the NPC named Carbon inside the bunker. He hands you a quest called Find a Bag of Chips.
Look to the right corner of the room, where there is a secret passage. Keep pushing into the wall there until you slip through into a hidden second room. Check the shelves inside to find the Bag of Chips, then carry it back to Carbon to complete the quest and receive the Cheeto Rod.

You will know the run worked when Carbon accepts the Bag of Chips and the Cheeto Rod lands in your inventory. If the bunker still reads as locked, you missed the Rusted Bunker Key on Terrapin Island and need to go back for it.

Is the Cheeto Rod worth getting?

For a free rod, the numbers are surprisingly solid. The 40% Lure Speed boost helps you hook fish faster, and the 15% Luck bump nudges your odds toward rarer catches. The main tradeoff is the 500 kg weight cap, which limits the size of what you can reel in, and the small Control reduction of 0.1 is barely noticeable while fishing.

Given how short the quest is, there is little reason to skip it. Grab the key, open the bunker, find the secret room, hand over the chips, and you walk away with a genuinely useful early rod for no cash at all.
