How to Get the Pistol-3000 in Silent Hill Townfall (Sci-Fi Ending)

Unlock the secret U.F.O. ending, then claim the infinite-ammo ray gun and the Future Hardware trophy.

Unlock the secret U.F.O. ending, then claim the infinite-ammo ray gun and the Future Hardware trophy.

Silent Hill Townfall hides the Pistol-3000 until the endgame. This futuristic ray gun has unlimited ammunition and vaporizes ordinary enemies in one blast. You will not find it during a standard run: it becomes available only after the secret Sci-Fi ending has been recorded on your save.

Quick answer: Complete the Sci-Fi ending in New Game Plus, then start another New Game Plus and pick up the Pistol-3000 from the green-lit Shore Wynd garage or the Floor 5 Boardroom. Picking it up unlocks the Future Hardware trophy.

What you need before you start

Finishing the game once is not enough to get the weapon. First clear the standard game to gain access to New Game Plus; then earn the Sci-Fi ending in that mode. Start one more New Game Plus run afterward and pick up the gun. You will need three separate playthroughs to do all of this.

Collect the three Strange Books and the Access Card

To trigger the Sci-Fi ending, find all four pickups in Parts 1, 2, 4, and 6. Missing any one leaves the final card reader inactive. Examine each book at its pickup location; merely taking it does not qualify it for the ending.

Once you return from the Otherworld in Part 1, make your way to Zoe’s house in northern St. Amelia, across from the newsstand. Go upstairs to the bedroom and collect Strange Book 1, “History of Space Flight,” beside the nightstand. Read the book before you leave.

After Simon is back in your control in Part 2, open Richard’s Gift box in the Town Square to obtain the standard pistol. This gives you access to Shorefront District, Different. When the area becomes red, go to the hotel and climb to the locked upstairs door marked by a grid of symbols.
Press the symbols in the exact order below. Some symbols are pressed twice, so follow the numbering carefully.

With the sequence entered correctly, the door opens. Step inside and take the Strange Access Card, described in your inventory as an access card made from a circuit board, from another time.

In Part 4, travel to Clara Woods Estate and enter the store in Atlas Square, opposite the phone booth. Turn left and take Strange Book 2, “Freeze Me / Wake Me – Elias Fisher,” from the bookshelf. Read it in place.

In Part 6, playing as Simon inside SWDP – Different, finish the Remote Systems Control puzzle so you can open doors from the console. Enter 621 on the keypad and confirm with the red enter key. Head downstairs into Room 621, opposite the room holding Valve F, and take Strange Book 3, “A Map of Nowhere Else – The Future of Interstellar Travel,” from the desk.

Trigger the Sci-Fi ending with the Access Card

Once you have read all three books and obtained the card, carry on through Part 6. Solve the clamps puzzle, then turn the red valve to let the container out. When the shutter door opens, proceed along the corridor and pause at the reader on the left wall before you reach the final door.

Swipe the Strange Access Card at the reader. Its light turns green, and the character remarks that he feels sluggish and needs to wake up. Go through the door: instead of the usual story scene, the Sci-Fi ending cutscene plays. The ending is recorded on your file after the credits.

The Sci-Fi ending is one of two bonus endings that only exist in New Game Plus, alongside the Dog ending. It is the only ending tied to the Pistol-3000.

Where to find the Pistol-3000 in New Game Plus

After clearing the Sci-Fi ending, choose New Game Plus from the main menu to begin a fresh run. The Pistol-3000 has two possible pickup locations: one lets you get it early, while the other is available in the CEG Tower section.

Shore Wynd garage (opening area)

At the beginning of the run, while you are in Shorefront South and have not yet reached the plaza, travel east along Shore Wynd toward the gate beside the “For Sale, Morrisons Experienced Property Experts” sign.
Go through the white gate into the row of garage-style storage units. Descend the alley stairs and open the second door on your right, leading to a room with an eerie green glow. The Axe also appears here in New Game Plus.
Inside, the Pistol-3000 is sitting on the table. Pick it up.

Floor 5 Boardroom (as Richard)

Much later, Richard can find another Pistol-3000 on Floor 5 of the CEG Tower. Go into the Boardroom and check the telephone used to save; the weapon is on the surface immediately ahead of it. This route saves you from returning to the opening area. The gun appears here only if the Sci-Fi ending is already on your save.

Confirming the unlock and using the gun

Collecting the weapon triggers the Future Hardware trophy. The notification verifies that the ending requirement was met and the pickup was registered.

The standard pistol from Richard’s Gift takes two shots to defeat an ordinary enemy, but the Pistol-3000 is a different tool. It has unlimited ammunition and eliminates regular foes with one shot, making it a strong choice for speedrun attempts or an easy cleanup sweep through St. Amelia.
