How to Play Filler on iMessage

Filler is a fun game to kill your time, there are different renditions of the game on the internet, however, the crux of the game remains the same. As the name suggests, you have to capture as many color boxes on the grid as possible by switching colors to win the game.

The player who captures more amount of the color boxes wins the game at the end. However, there is more to the Filler game than it meets the eyes and just like any good game, it is simple, fun, and easy to play but takes time to master.

On iOS, Filler is not directly available on the iMessage AppStore. Hence, you will have to download the “GamePigeon” app that has a host of games including the Filler game in order to play it with your near and dear ones.

Downloading an app is never a hurdle. However, since in this instance you need to download an app from the iMessage AppStore, there are a couple of extra steps involved.

First, open the Messages app either from the home screen or from the app library of your iPhone.

Then, tap on any of the conversation heads to proceed.

After that, tap on the grey-colored AppStore icon to reveal all the iMessage apps.

Next, click on the blue-colored AppStore icon to open the iMessage AppStore.

Now, tap on the search bar and type GamePigeon and then tap on the ‘Search’ button present at the bottom right corner of the on-screen keyboard to search for the app.

Then, from the search results, tap on the ‘Get’ or the ‘cloud icon’ button to initiate the app download on your iPhone.

Start a Game of Filler with a Contact on your iPhone

Once you and the person you wish to play Filler with have downloaded the GamePigeon app on your respective iPhones, it is now time to start making your boring time more fun.

To start a game, head to the ‘Messages’ app either from the home screen or from the app library of your iPhone.

Next, tap on the conversation head of the person you wish to play the game with. Otherwise, click on the ‘compose message’ icon present at the top right corner of your screen.

After that, scroll left to right on the app bar present at the bottom of the screen and tap on the ‘Game Pigeon’ icon. This will bring up a pop-up window on your screen.

Now, locate the ‘Filler’ game tile and tap on it to select the game.

Then, tap on the ‘Send’ button to let your opponent take the first turn of the game.

At the start of the game, you both will be starting from the corner tile each. To proceed and gather more tiles, you will have to select a color from the palette available at the bottom section of the game screen and it will automatically club the tile of homogenous colors together immediately.

Note: You cannot select the color your opponent currently has, nor can you choose to stay on the same color.

In order to win the game strategically, you have to carefully plan your moves and capture the blocks. The player having the most number of blocks will win the game.

Hint: You can also block your opponent from capturing more boxes by switching to color of your opponent’s next ideal move.

Turn Sound or Music On/Off for Filler

Though the sound effects and music in Filler are very minimal and not distracting at all. However, there can be circumstances where you need to completely turn off; and if the situation arises, you will know where to look.

To turn off audio for Filler, from the game screen, tap on the ‘gear’ icon from the bottom left corner of the screen.

After that, tap on the ‘Music’ button to turn off the in-game music. Then, if you would also like to turn off the in-game sound effects, tap on the ‘Sound’ button to do so.

You can also customize your character’s complete appearance including hairs, face expressions, eyewear, headwear, clothes, and much more using the customization options present just above the sound and music options.
