How to Turn Off Genshin Impact Player Messages and Ice Constructs in Snezhnaya

Disable the Eye of Graeae's incoming signs, then clear the ones already scattered across your Snezhnaya map.

Disable the Eye of Graeae’s incoming signs, then clear the ones already scattered across your Snezhnaya map.

Snezhnaya’s icy overworld comes with a new twist borrowed from Dark Souls and Death Stranding. Other players can drop signs and ice structures directly into your world, and after only a couple of days in the region they pile up fast. The good news is the whole system is optional. You can stop new ones from appearing and wipe out the ones already cluttering your map.

Quick answer: Open the Eye of Graeae gadget menu, go to Construct Details, open its settings, and uncheck Allow receiving Prime Ice Constructs from others. This blocks new ones but does not remove existing constructs, so you also have to delete those from the map.

What the player messages actually are

The signs and structures come from the Eye of Graeae, a gadget you receive during the main Snezhnaya questline. The gadget does several things at once. It gets you onto the train, places constructs made of ice, and helps you survive the freezing temperatures. It also lets you place two kinds of signs on the ground for other Travelers to see.

You can’t type free text. Messages are built by piecing together words from set categories such as Expressions, Adjectives, and Nouns, and you can tag an object or spot in the environment. The result ranges from genuine puzzle hints to jokes and the familiar “weak foe ahead” style bait. All of these signs, along with the ice structures, fall under the same umbrella called Prime Ice Constructs.

Stop receiving new Prime Ice Constructs

The toggle lives inside the gadget’s own menu rather than the main game settings, which is why it’s easy to miss. The steps differ slightly between keyboard and controller.

On PC

Press T to open the Eye of Graeae interaction, then press E to open Construct Details.
Select the gear icon in the top right of that screen to open the specific settings menu.
Uncheck Allow receiving Prime Ice Constructs from others. New signs and structures from other players will stop appearing.

On PlayStation 5

Press LB + Square to open the gadget, then press Triangle to reach the construct details.
Press D-Pad Up to open the settings and toggle off the option to receive constructs from other players.

Delete the constructs already on your map

Turning off the toggle is not retroactive. Every sign and structure already placed in your world stays until you remove it by hand from the map screen.

Open the overworld map and select Manage Prime Ice Constructs. This lists every type of construct, including the player signs.
Click on a construct, then choose the trash can icon in the bottom right.
Use the up arrow to expand the full amount, tick each box, and bulk remove them so you don’t have to delete every entry one by one.

Note: Deletion only works at locations tied to a Statue of The Seven you have already unlocked. Areas without an unlocked statue will keep their constructs until you activate it.

How to confirm it worked and common snags

Once the toggle is unchecked, you should stop seeing fresh signs from other Travelers as you explore new ground. If constructs are still showing up in areas you’ve already cleared, that’s expected. The setting only prevents future placements and does not sweep the map clean on its own.

Two things trip people up most often. Constructs you placed yourself stay visible even after you block incoming ones, so remove those manually if you want an empty world. And because deletion depends on an unlocked statue, a region you haven’t fully opened will still look cluttered until you reach and activate its statue.

SituationWhy it happens
New signs still appear after togglingThe setting only blocks future constructs, not existing ones
Some constructs won’t deleteThe location’s statue is not unlocked yet
Signs remain after blocking othersThose are constructs you placed yourself

If you’d rather keep the hints while you learn the region, leave the toggle on and just prune the constructs that get in your way. Either path leaves your exploration in your hands, whether you want a quiet snowscape or a helping hand from other Travelers finding their way through Snezhnaya.
