The Cluckpuncher is a hidden chicken-themed grenade launcher in Gears of War: E-Day that fires explosive rounds wrapped in squawks and flying feathers. It does not appear in the normal weapon progression. You earn it by shooting seven egg cartons scattered through Act 2, Chapter 2: Hold the Line, and when the last one breaks, the gun drops onto the sidewalk for you to grab.
Quick answer: During Act 2, Chapter 2, destroy all seven egg cartons across the Kalona district in any order. Each correct hit plays a chicken cluck, and the Cluckpuncher spawns near the final target.
What you need before you start
Everything happens inside one chapter, so there is no grinding or special gear involved. A few points keep the run clean.
- You must be in Act 2, Chapter 2: Hold the Line. Replay the chapter if you have already moved past it.
- The order does not matter. You can clear the cartons in whatever sequence suits your route.
- Any weapon breaks the cartons. The final target is easiest with a scoped weapon or a grenade.
- Listen for the chicken cluck after each hit. That sound confirms the trigger registered.
As the story moves forward, Hold the Line shifts, so find the Easter egg during your district sweep instead of putting every stop off until the finale.

Six cartons sit inside refrigerators and coolers. The seventh is tucked into a ruined apartment and needs a thrown or scoped shot. Use this table as a checklist, then follow the notes below for the exact spot in each building.
| # | Location | Where the carton is |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Last Dollar store (Trapped Family) | Reach-in drinks refrigerator at the back |
| 2 | Timgad Prime gas station | Beverage cooler along the back wall |
| 3 | Major Burger near the train station | Kitchen refrigerator behind the counter |
| 4 | Major Burger behind Bank of Tyrus | Kitchen refrigerator in the service area |
| 5 | Major Burger near Allfathers Plaza | Reach-in cooler at the rear |
| 6 | Major Burger near Black Raven Down | Back cooler of the western diner |
| 7 | Apartment across from Kalona Theatre | On top of a fridge in a blown-out kitchen |
1. Last Dollar store
This building is where the Trapped Family secondary objective leads you. Head to the refrigerated display at the back and look at the lower shelves of the drinks cooler. Shoot the egg cartons there until they break and you hear the cluck. You can also fire through the broken storefront window from outside if the inside angle is awkward.

2. Timgad Prime gas station
This is the same shop that holds the Thrashies cereal box collectible, so the detour pays off twice. Walk inside and go to the beverage coolers along the back wall. Fire into the cooler to destroy the carton on its shelf and wait for the cluck before you leave.

3. Major Burger near the train station
Several Major Burger restaurants feature in this Easter egg, so do not stop at the first one. This location sits near the train station exit and supply cache in Downtown Kalona. Go behind the counter into the kitchen and shoot the carton in the upright refrigerator.

4. Major Burger behind Bank of Tyrus
Find the second Major Burger in the stretch separating the Bank of Tyrus from the Warehouse District. Enter the kitchen through the service-counter doorway, then smash the carton inside its refrigerator.

5. Major Burger near Allfathers Plaza
The third Major Burger is near the Allfathers Plaza muster point, east of Victory Plaza. There is a supply cache inside this one, so loot it on the way through. Head to the rear reach-in cooler and shoot the carton.

6. Major Burger near Black Raven Down
The fourth Major Burger sits in the southwest corner of the district, right beside the crash site for the Black Raven Down secondary objective. Enter the diner before leaving that area, move to the rear, and destroy the carton in the back cooler.

7. Apartment across from Kalona Theatre
The last carton is perched on a refrigerator in a ruined kitchen on the second floor of an apartment, directly across from the Kalona Theatre and over the Toys and Gift store. You can’t reach it on foot. Climb into the elevated subway car across the street and snipe the carton through the shattered outer wall, or throw a Frag Grenade into the open hole above the store until you hear the cluck. When the carton breaks, the Cluckpuncher drops onto the sidewalk below.
Picking up the Cluckpuncher and confirming it worked
After the seventh carton breaks, a loud chicken cluck plays and the weapon falls to the street in front of the apartment building, near the Toys and Gift store. Drop down, walk up to it, and the X Cluckpuncher prompt appears. Press it to equip the gun, which arrives with 5 rounds of ammunition.
If the weapon never spawns, one of the earlier six cartons did not register. The two early stores hold more than one visible carton, so make sure you fully destroyed the eggs rather than firing a single shot and moving on. Revisit any stop where you did not clearly hear the cluck, and use Chapter Replay if part of Hold the Line is no longer reachable.
What the Cluckpuncher does
The Cluckpuncher is a chicken-themed variant of the Gut Puncher grenade launcher. Instead of standard grenades, it fires explosive chickens that can travel and bounce before detonating into bursts of clucking and white feathers. It is a joke weapon, but a fully usable one against enemies like Grenadiers down a street.
Extra ammunition and mods for the weapon turn up in supply caches around the district, so keep an eye on those caches if you want to use it beyond the initial five rounds.
The gun directly references the Cluckshot from Gears of War 3, a Boomshot variant that launched explosive chickens. E-Day takes place well before that game, but the developers revived the series’ chicken gag with a new twist: smashing hidden egg cartons. Returning players noticed the callback quickly.
