Every fighter in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has a set of alternate costume colors, but only a handful are ready the moment you boot up. The first four are yours immediately. The rest are gated behind story completion, casual play, Survival runs, per-character challenges, and one edition-only extra.
Quick answer: Colors 1–4 are unlocked from the start. Unlock Color 5 by finishing a team’s Episode, Color 6 by playing 10 Casual matches, Color 7 by hitting 100 KOs in All-Star Arena Survival, and Color 8 by clearing each character’s Action Check and Combo Challenge. Color 9 comes only with the Ultimate Edition.

Every costume color and its unlock condition
The base game holds eight colors per character, with a ninth reserved for the Ultimate Edition. Some unlock for a whole team or the entire cast at once, while others must be earned for each fighter individually. The table below sums up what triggers each one.
| Color | How to unlock | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 | Available from the start | All characters |
| 5 | Complete a team’s Episode | That team’s four members |
| 6 | Play 10 Casual matches | Full roster |
| 7 | Reach 100 KOs in All-Star Arena Survival | Full roster |
| 8 | Clear a character’s Action Check and Combo Challenge | That character only |
| 9 | Own or upgrade to the Ultimate Edition | All 20 launch characters |

Add to Google Preferences →Color 5: Finish each team’s Episode
Color 5 is tied to Episode Mode, the game’s story mode split across five team storylines. Completing one team’s Episode unlocks Color 5 for all four of its members, so you cover four fighters per run. Want it for Iron Man, for example? Clear the Fighting Avengers Episode.
Finishing any Episode for the first time also has a bonus. It adds the Champion to your list of playable characters.
Color 6: Play 10 Casual matches
Color 6 is the easiest of the earned colors. Play 10 matches in the Casual mode and you unlock it for the entire roster at once. You do not have to win any of them, so even a rough run counts.
Playing those 10 Casual matches also opens up Ranked, so if you plan to fight other players competitively, this color drops naturally while you warm up.
Color 7: Reach 100 KOs in All-Star Arena Survival
Color 7 requires reaching 100 KOs in All-Star Arena Survival. Clearing it unlocks the color for the full cast, so it only needs to be done once. The catch is the difficulty. Opponents past 80 KOs sharpen up considerably, and the run ends against the strongest version of the Champion in a single decisive bout, where his second phase can knock you out in one touch.
Note: Enemies over 80 KOs get more aggressive but cannot use tag mechanics to their full potential, which gives a well-covered team a window to keep chipping away.
Color 8: Clear each character’s Action Check and Combo Challenge
Color 8 is earned per fighter. To unlock it for a single character, complete that character’s Action Check and Combo Challenge. Because it is tied to each fighter individually, filling out all 20 means running the drills for every one of them.
Some of the Combo Challenges get tricky, but they double as a strong way to learn a character’s tools. If you are thinking of picking up a new main, these are worth doing regardless of the color reward.
Color 9: Ultimate Edition only
Color 9 is the Animated Chromatic color, and it cannot be earned through play. It comes bundled with the Ultimate Edition and unlocks for all 20 launch characters. If you own a lower edition, you can add it by purchasing the Ultimate Edition upgrade rather than grinding for it in-game.
How to confirm a color unlocked
Once a condition is met, the new color appears in the character customization screen and can be selected before a match. Roster-wide unlocks (Colors 6 and 7) show up for every fighter at the same time, while Colors 5 and 8 only appear on the specific characters tied to the completed content. If a color is still missing, the most common reasons are an unfinished Episode for that team, fewer than 10 Casual matches logged, a Survival run that ended before 100 KOs, or an Action Check or Combo Challenge left incomplete for that fighter.
