Where the dungeon sits in Sester’s Refuge, how to survive the searchlight, and every item you can clear out.

The Revered Beacon is a small dungeon tucked into Sester’s Refuge in the Ruins of Mammon, and it exists mainly to hand you one thing: the Cursed Child sidearm. The catch is the room itself. A rotating searchlight sweeps the open field, and standing in it drains your health continuously until you break line of sight.

Quick answer: Travel to the Abbey Entrance Beacon, head into Sester’s Refuge, drop down past the Bone Gate near the Sester’s Gate Beacon, and enter the hidden dungeon entrance. Inside, use the rocks and pillars as cover, climb the hill toward the light, and smash the altar at the top to claim the Cursed Child.

Revered Beacon location in Sester’s Refuge

The fastest approach starts from the Abbey Entrance Beacon, which sits past the Outskirts of Mammon once you cross the Bone Gate and work through the ruins. From there the route runs through the castle structures and into the refuge proper.

There are two reliable ways in. From the Abbey Entrance side, go inside the castle and reach the open area beyond the gates, then turn west toward a Sester standing near a staircase. Beside that staircase is a doorway boarded over with wooden planks. Break the planks, head outside, and push forward past a Prophet Hammer. The dungeon entrance is hidden in the area behind that enemy.

If you have already lit the Sester’s Gate Beacon, the approach is shorter. Take the staircase from the beacon and continue down below the Bone Gate. A Faceless Cleric stands in front of the dungeon entrance, so expect a fight before you can descend. A stone elevator carries you the rest of the way down to the entrance.

Grab the Revered Gland in the cave on the way

Between the Abbey Entrance and Sester’s Gate there is a dark cave worth clearing before you commit to the dungeon. Clear the enemies inside, then look for three stone monuments. Smashing all three unlocks a Revered Gland, which raises your healing capacity and makes the searchlight room considerably less punishing.

Note: light and rest at the Sester’s Gate Beacon before you drop in. It becomes your closest respawn point and refills health and Resolve, which matters because the Cursed Child spends Resolve when you use it.

How the searchlight damage works

The dungeon’s one real mechanic is the beam of light sweeping the open field. It is not a burst hit. As long as the light is on you, damage keeps ticking, so the fix is always cover rather than healing through it.

SituationWhat to do
Light is sweeping toward youMove behind a rock or stone pillar and wait for it to pass
Open ground with no cover nearbyKeep running rather than stopping to fight
Enemies engage you in the beamPull them into cover first, then commit to the fight
Vision drops in the fogTrack your position against the broken walls and the hill

Visibility shrinks noticeably once you enter the dungeon proper, and the area is open enough that it is easy to lose your bearings. The hill climbing toward the light is your landmark. If the ground starts sloping upward, you are on the correct path.

Route to the Cursed Child sidearm

Descend from the entrance and follow the flowery path through the hallway. Infested enemies are scattered along the way, so move deliberately rather than sprinting blind into them.
Step into the open, foggy area and immediately note where the nearest rocks are. Everything from here is a cover-to-cover run while the light rotates.

Head straight past the broken wall to find three Ventriums sitting on broken skulls. An Infested Stalker and a Roaming Head guard them, so clear both before looting.
Turn right and start climbing the hill. A Knight of Mammon patrols around the corner here and will catch you mid-slope if you rush it.
Deal with the Anointed Confessor further up. This enemy hits hard and chains follow-up attacks, so lean on dodges and counters instead of trading blows.
At the top of the hill, jump across to the altar and strike it to break it open. The loot inside is revealed only after the altar is smashed.

Take the Cursed Child from the altar. The sidearm burns Resolve to deal damage to enemies around you, so it works best when you have banked Resolve from parries and kills.

Grabbing the sidearm does not close out the dungeon. Completion requires clearing the remaining enemies and sweeping the field for the items you skipped while dodging the beam. After taking the altar loot you can warp straight back to the dungeon entrance and work outward from there instead of retracing the hill.

Backtrack through the area with the light in mind, finishing off anything you ran past on the way in. Once every enemy is down and the pickups are collected, return to the platform where you first dropped in to close out the run.

You can confirm the run is finished by opening the map and checking the Revered Beacon entry, which flips to complete once nothing is left in the area. If it still shows as unfinished, the usual culprits are a surviving enemy hidden in the fog or an item you passed while sprinting out of the searchlight.

Once cleared, the Revered Beacon has nothing left to draw you back, but the Cursed Child stays useful well past Sester’s Refuge as a burst option whenever you are sitting on spare Resolve.
