Onimusha Way of the Sword – How to Get the Hozuki Pouch: Resistance

The Hozuki Pouch: Resistance is the middle ground between healing and aggression in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It drips health back into your bar while topping up Oni Power, which keeps your Oni Armaments usable during long boss fights instead of forcing you to choose between staying alive and staying dangerous. Getting it takes one specific chest south of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror and one conversation with Okuni.

Quick answer: Complete the mission “Patching up the Pouch,” then collect the Oni Cloth (Resistance) from the hidden chest behind the Malice Barrier south of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror and hand it to Okuni to craft the pouch.

What the Hozuki Pouch: Resistance does

Resistance is a regeneration pouch, not a burst heal. Using it restores a medium amount of health and Oni Power gradually, so you need to trigger it before you are in danger rather than after a big hit lands. It carries seven charges at its base level.

Unlock pouch crafting first with “Patching up the Pouch”

You cannot make any alternate pouch until Okuni offers to repair your tattered starter pouch. Speak to her at Enma’s Hall when the main story allows it and finish the mission “Patching up the Pouch.” Completing it lets her build and enhance pouches, and it marks every pouch location on your Kyoto map, including the Resistance one.

Okuni also hands out side requests around Enma’s Hall. Her Kabuki Dance request asks you to destroy the Malice-emitting plants surrounding the Kabuki stage; once the area is cleansed, she performs the dance.

Route to the Oni Cloth (Resistance)

The Pouch Marker for this cloth sits south of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror, but the gate directly below it is locked. The way in is from the harbor side to the west, over the rooftops.

Fast travel to the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror and head south until the Pouch Marker appears on your compass. Ignore the locked gate at street level and keep moving.

Turn west and follow the village path, cutting through the bamboo stretch toward the water. The purple objective marker stays visible above the rooftops as a guide.

Continue north to the pier. You will come out at the waterfront landing beside a docked boat, which is the entrance area for the sealed courtyard.

Climb the ladder on the west side of the houses to reach the roof, then use Oni Agility to dash across the stone bridge into the courtyard.

Drop down into the sealed area and wipe out the enemies inside. The path from here is linear, running through a house, out a side doorway, and up another ladder before you drop down again.

Follow the path to the Malice Barrier and break it open. Behind it, activate Oni Vision at the shrine at the end of the path to expose the hidden chest holding the Oni Cloth (Resistance).

Note: the chest is invisible until Oni Vision reveals the Oni spot. If nothing appears, you are standing too far from the shrine.

Pick up Skeleton Hozuki #3 in the same area

A second chest sits right next to the barrier, and it holds Skeleton Hozuki #3. You will need it later, since every Level 3 pouch upgrade consumes one Skeleton Hozuki and there are only five in the game. Grab it now so you do not have to run the rooftop route a second time.

Give the cloth to Okuni and confirm the pouch

Return to Okuni at Enma’s Hall and hand over the Oni Cloth (Resistance). She crafts the pouch immediately. You know it worked when Hozuki Pouch: Resistance appears in the Hozuki Pouches menu alongside your Default pouch, ready to equip and use with D-Up.

Between Spirit Mirrors, top the pouch back up at Hozuki plants scattered around Kyoto. Sun Dried Hozuki restore charges mid-fight, which is worth saving for the harder bosses.

Hozuki Pouch: Resistance upgrade materials

The pouch starts at Level 1 as soon as it is crafted. Okuni handles both enhancements, and the Level 3 step is the one that eats a Skeleton Hozuki.

Taking this pouch to Level 3 counts toward the Medical Marvel trophy and achievement, which requires every Hozuki Pouch fully upgraded.

Why the pouch will not unlock

There are only a few reasons this fails. Okuni cannot craft anything before “Patching up the Pouch” is finished, so the cloth just sits in your inventory. Some pouch areas are also sealed behind harmful miasma until the story opens them, in which case you need to push the main missions further before returning.

If you are cleaning up late, all of this stays reachable until the point of no return before the final mission “The Clash at Rendaino.” Keep a manual save at that point and you can still return to Kyoto for anything you missed.
