The Moon Lord is the toughest raid boss added in Palworld’s Tides of Terraria update. It sits at level 50 with 422,500 HP, has no elemental type, and cannot be caught. You only damage it by hitting specific weak points, which makes preparation and aim matter far more than raw firepower.
Quick answer: Summon it with a Celestial Sigil placed in a Summoning Altar, then destroy the three glowing eyes (one on the forehead, one in each hand) before firing everything into the heart that opens in its chest. Use long-range weapons and stay mobile.
Before you summon: level, gear, and Pals
The Moon Lord spawns at level 50, but you should be around level 60 before attempting it. Because it has no element, there is no type advantage to exploit and no type it hits harder with. That means the fight comes down to survivability and how consistently you can hit its weak spots from range.
Close-range weapons are useless here. Bring long-range firearms so you can target the eyes and heart while dodging. The Plasma Cannon deals the most reliable damage to the weak points, with the Laser Gatling Gun and Advanced Bow as steady alternatives. The Energy Shotgun works well while you are mounted.
| Loadout | Recommended picks |
|---|---|
| Weapons | Plasma Cannon, Laser Gatling Gun, Energy Shotgun, Advanced Bow |
| Ammo | Plasma Cartridge, Laser Gatling Cartridge, Energy Shotgun Ammo, Advanced Arrow |
| Head | Hexolite Helmet |
| Armor | Lightweight Hexolite Armor |
| Accessories | Triple Jump Boots, Life Pendant +2, Attack Pendant +2, Defense Pendant +2 |
| Shield | Ultra Shield |
For Pals, prioritize tankiness and ranged attacks. Xenolord is the strongest mount because its skills can reach the eyes and heart, and you can fire your own weapon while riding it. Any tough flying Pal that can take hits and deal ranged damage also works. Avoid using Jetragon as your mount, since its skills cannot hit the eyes on the hands.
Fill your base slots with high-damage, high-defense Pals to draw the boss’s attention and chip away at it. Selyne, Xenogard, Blazamut Ryu, Orserk, Bastigor, Azurmane, Suzaku, and Frostallion Noct are all strong options.

Note: Each Summoning Altar can only be used once, and the Moon Lord’s area-of-effect blasts can level nearby structures. Build a separate, empty base far from your main operation just for the raid, and keep spare crafting materials in a chest so you can rebuild the altar later.
The fight: eyes first, then the heart
The Moon Lord is immune to attacks on its main body. Ignore it and focus on the three glowing eyes, one on the forehead and one in each hand. Each eye has its own health bar, and draining an eye also lowers the boss’s overall HP.

The eyes open and close in intervals, so time your heavy shots for the moment each one is fully exposed. While they are open, they fire projectiles and lasers, and the boss spawns extra eyes that hover nearby and shoot beams. Keep moving to avoid the sweeping deathray, which can down you instantly if you stand still.
The eye on the forehead sits high, so aiming at it on foot is awkward. Let your Pals handle it, or climb a structure at your base to line up the shot. Your Pals automatically target whatever needs to be hit, so you can follow their lead.
Once all three eyes are destroyed, the chest slides open to reveal the heart. This is the only window where the main health bar takes damage. Signal your Pals to strike and unload everything into the core. After the eyes fall, the True Eye of Cthulhu also spawns and attacks. It cannot be defeated, so simply avoid its hits while you focus on the heart.
Rewards for defeating the Moon Lord
Beating the Moon Lord drops a selection of high-value items into your inventory. The two headline rewards are the Moon Lord Mask (Legendary Headgear) and the Legendary Meowmere weapon, but neither is guaranteed. If you want them, prepare extra Celestial Sigils and altars for repeat runs.
| Category | Drops |
|---|---|
| Legendary (not guaranteed) | Moon Lord Mask, Legendary Meowmere |
| Upgrades | Training Crystal, Life Pendant +2, Attack Pendant +2, Defense Pendant +2 |
| Fruits | Power Fruit, Life Fruit, Stout Fruit |
| Lotus (S) | Power, Life, Speed, Stamina, Carrying |
| Materials | Ruby, Ancient Civilization Core, Ancient Civilization Parts |
You will know the raid is won when the Moon Lord’s health bar empties after you strike the heart and the reward items appear in your inventory. Since the Mask and Meowmere have low drop rates, plan on summoning the boss more than once to collect the full set.
