Ominous Eggs are a rare, endgame-only egg type in Palworld that only appear inside the World Tree region. Every Pal that hatches from one is guaranteed to carry a World Tree Passive Skill, a category of traits you cannot reliably get anywhere else.
Quick answer: Beat all eight Tower bosses to open the World Tree, then look for eggs with glowing purple-pink markings. Fly the region, pick up any Ominous Eggs you spot, and hatch them in an Egg Incubator to get a Pal with a guaranteed World Tree Passive Skill.

What Ominous Eggs are and how to unlock them
An Ominous Egg is described in-game as a mysterious egg imbued with the energy of the World Tree. It looks a lot like a standard Dark Egg, but the difference is easy to spot once you know it. Ominous Eggs have glowing purple-pinkish markings and an aura, so from the air they read as a luminescent orb rather than a dull shell.
You cannot reach any of these eggs until you finish the mainland. Defeat all eight of the Towers and their bosses, then progress into the endgame content at the World Tree. The eggs only spawn once you can enter the World Tree interior, so there is no way to farm them early.

Ominous Eggs share the same spawn points as regular World Tree eggs, and those points are fixed rather than random. Any single spot can roll a normal elemental egg, an Ominous Egg, a larger variant, or nothing at all. That is why these locations are best treated as places to check on repeat runs, not guaranteed pickups.
Two broad clusters cover most sightings. The first sits north of the Lacrymal Shoal fast travel statue, heading east of the Gilded City Ruins Watchtower and toward the area between the Forbidden Laboratory and the Abandoned Library. The second is south of the Remnant Riverside fast travel spot, around a ruined castle. Bring a flying mount so you can scan for the glow quickly.
These are the five confirmed egg coordinates that make a fast collection loop:
| Spawn | Coordinates | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Egg #1 | -1540, 1423 | Inside a small rocky opening near a waterfall |
| Egg #2 | -1610, 1386 | On the ground beside a tree, west of #1 |
| Egg #3 | -1924, 1313 | By the lower outer walls of the ruined castle |
| Egg #4 | -1929, 1346 | Among the broken bastions, north of #3 |
| Egg #5 | -1913, 1406 | On elevated ground above the castle, near a boss area |
Egg #1 is easy to miss because it sits inside a small opening rather than on top of the rocks, so descend and check underneath. At egg #5, watch for high-level enemies before you land.

How to farm more Ominous Eggs
Because each spawn point rerolls its egg type when your world loads, you can force better results in single-player by reloading. There are also two egg sizes worth chasing beyond the base version. The three sizes are the Ominous Egg, Large Ominous Egg, and Huge Ominous Egg, with the Huge version being the rarest.
| Grintale Rank | Extra egg chance |
|---|---|
| Rank 1 | 50% |
| Rank 2 | 55% |
| Rank 3 | 60% |
| Rank 4 | 65% |
| Rank 5 | 75% |
Note: When you are using the reload trick, never grab an unwanted regular egg at a spawn point, or you lose that reroll slot.

How to hatch Ominous Eggs
Ominous Eggs hatch like any other egg. Take them back to base and place them in a standard Egg Incubator or an Ancient Hatchery. Incubation time depends on the egg’s size and your world’s hatching settings. Keeping a Dynamoff at your base speeds incubation by 20%.
If you have not built an incubator yet, you unlock it at Technology Level 7 for one Ancient Technology Point, which you earn by defeating any Boss or Alpha Pal. The recipe is:
- Ancient Civilization Parts × 2
- Cloth × 5
- Paldium Fragment × 10
- Stone × 30
What hatches from an Ominous Egg
An Ominous Egg can produce any Pal from the World Tree pool, with the raid boss Astralym excluded. That includes World Tree-exclusive species such as Aegidron, as well as familiar Pals that also live in the region, like Grizzbolt or Fenglope. Other World Tree hatches include Gloopie Primo, Wispaw, Mossanda Lux, Shroomer, and the Cryst and Primo variants found in the area.
The real reason to hatch these eggs is the guaranteed passive. Regular World Tree Pals only have a chance of carrying one of these traits, but a Pal from an Ominous Egg always gets one. The remaining passive slots still roll separately, so it can take several eggs to land the exact Pal and passive combination you want.

All World Tree Passive Skills
There are seven World Tree Passives, and each pairs one strong benefit with one drawback. Weigh them against how you plan to use the Pal, whether that is base work, combat, or a mount. Every one of them also shares a hidden bonus. Any Pal with a World Tree Passive in your party stops World Tree harvestables, such as Mythical Wood, from vanishing as you approach, which normally requires consuming Holy Water.
| Passive Skill | Benefit | Drawback |
|---|---|---|
| Demon’s Hand | Work Speed +90% | SAN depletion +15% |
| Dimensional Leap | Movement Speed +50% | Hunger depletion +15% |
| God of Destruction | Attack +40%, Defense +20% | Max Health -50% |
| Hermit Sage | SAN depletion -50% | Work Speed -20% |
| Sanctified Meat Shield | Defense +50% | Attack -30% |
| Twin-Edged Holy Blade | Attack +50% | Defense -30% |
| World Tree Seedbed | Hunger depletion -50% | Max Health -20% |
You will know it worked when the hatched Pal’s info screen shows one of these seven traits. If it does not, the egg was a regular World Tree egg rather than an Ominous Egg, so double-check the glow before you collect. Since every size guarantees a World Tree Passive, it is worth grabbing each Ominous Egg you find, regardless of how big it is.
