Freezing Chaos arts
Freezing Chaos features seven arts, with four becoming available as you level up the weapon. Raise its level with forge and weapon upgrades.
| Art | Unlocks | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Chaos Erosion | Power Surge art (costs 1 Sha-Chi Essence) | “[Power Surge] Consumes 1 Sha-Chi Essence to unleash a series of attacks in [Steel], [Frost], and [Chaos] forms. This attack is unblockable.” |
| Threefold Resonance | Tempering art | “Using [Threefold Shift] greatly increases damage dealt and Sha-Chi Depletion for 5 seconds.” |
| Threefold Shift | Base art | “[Block]+[Heavy Attack] Consumes Sha-Chi to switch between the following three forms and unleash powerful attacks. [Steel] has the highest Attack and Guard Break. [Chaos] attacks inflict Chaotic Flame, which can Ignite enemies and continuously deplete their HP and Sha-Chi. Any [Heavy Attack] attack also creates a Floating Chaotic Flame. [Frost] attacks inflict Chill. After sufficient buildup, enemies become Frozen.” |
| Steel-Shattering Thrust | Weapon level 5 | “While in [Steel] form, hold [Heavy Attack] to charge and unleash a ranged thrust, greatly depleting the enemy’s Sha-Chi.” |
| Bone Deep | Weapon level 10 | “Lv. 1: After switching forms, Slightly increases Sha-Chi recovery rate for 3 seconds. Lv. 2: After switching forms, Moderately increases Sha-Chi recovery rate for 3 seconds. Lv. 3: After switching forms, Greatly increases Sha-Chi recovery rate for 3 seconds.” |
| Iceberg | Weapon level 15 | “While in [Frost] form, hold [Heavy Attack] to charge and unleash a flurry of ice-shattering strikes. Frozen enemies take increased damage. Weaker enemies are shattered outright.” |
| Blackflame Whirlwind | Weapon level 25 | “While in [Chaos] form, hold [Heavy Attack] to charge, absorbing all Floating Chaotic Flames on the field before unleashing a powerful strike. If at least 13 flames are absorbed, [Blackflame Whirlwind] can be unleashed to continuously burn enemies caught within. The more flames absorbed, the greater the damage dealt by [Blackflame Whirlwind]. Up to 60 flames can be absorbed.” |
Chaos Erosion runs on Sha-Chi Essence, so it ties into the Power Surge system. Threefold Shift and Bone Deep both work with Sha-Chi, which fits into Sha-Chi combos.
What Freezing Chaos is good for
Threefold Shift lets you swap between three forms, so one weapon covers three jobs. Steel gives you raw Guard Break. Frost builds up toward Freeze. Chaos deals burning damage over time.
Blackflame Whirlwind, the level 25 art, pays off in long fights in Chaos form. Every Heavy Attack in that form leaves a Floating Chaotic Flame on the field, and Blackflame Whirlwind absorbs those flames later.
