Reign Piece: How to Beat Hantengu and Get Emotion Drums

The Hantengu update adds Zohakuten, the Wrath Incarnate, as an Upper Moon Four world boss in Reign Piece, and defeating him is the only way to obtain the new Emotion Drums weapon. Hantengu sits behind Kokushibo on the Demon Slayer content path, so reaching him takes a short chain of requirements before the chest is even in play.

Quick answer: Travel to the Demon Forest island (levels 2.0k–2.5k), enter the Lunar Shrine, drop into the Moon Crypt portal, defeat 50 Rogue Demons to spawn Kokushibo, kill Kokushibo 15 times to unlock Hantengu, then beat Hantengu and open his chest with a Wooden Key for a 2.55% chance at the Emotion Drums.

Requirements before you can reach Hantengu

Hantengu is a high-health world boss, so plan to fight him in a public server or with other players rather than alone. Before he appears, you need to clear the Kokushibo gate first.

How to summon Hantengu and open the chest

Fly to the Demon Forest island and head inside the Lunar Shrine. This is the entry hub for all of the Demon Slayer content, and you need to be within the 2.0k–2.5k level band to survive here.

Go up inside the shrine and step into the Moon Crypt portal. This drops you into the arena where the demon spawns are handled.

Defeat 50 Rogue Demons inside the crypt to make Kokushibo, the Upper Moon One, appear. These are the standard adds that gate the boss spawn.

Defeat Kokushibo 15 times to meet Hantengu’s spawn requirement. The counter on the arena shows your progress as “To spawn Kokushibo: Kills 0/15,” so keep farming until it clears. Farming Kokushibo in a shared server speeds this up considerably.

With the requirement met, summon and defeat Hantengu, the Wrath Incarnate. His health pool is large, so bring other players or fight in a busy public server rather than trying to solo him.

After Hantengu falls, use a Wooden Key to open the dropped chest. That roll carries a 2.55% chance to award the Emotion Drums. Unlike earlier updates, there is no seller NPC for this weapon, so the chest is the only source.

Hantengu chest drops and rates

Every kill guarantees the material drops, while the accessory and weapon sit at much lower rates. Hantengu shares the same drop table structure as Kokushibo, with the Emotion Drums replacing Kokushibo’s Kyoku Shinki weapon.

Emotion Drums moveset, damage, and enchanting

Once the Emotion Drums land in your inventory, the weapon comes with its own moveset mapped to the Z, X, C, V, and F skill keys. Its base output is testable against training targets straight away.

To push its numbers higher, take the weapon to the Blacksmith NPC and enchant it. Enchanting raises the weapon’s tier and its damage, so the maxed-out version noticeably outdamages the base drop when tested against targets like a Hogoroku Fragment.

Is Hantengu worth farming?

Hantengu is worth the trip if you want the Emotion Drums or Hantengu’s Armor, but temper expectations around the drop rate. The weapon only appears in 2.55% of chests, and the armor in 7.65%, so most runs return materials such as the Mythical Chest, Boss Coin, and Wooden Key rather than the rare gear.

Because there is no shortcut through a seller NPC, the fastest realistic path is to farm Hantengu repeatedly in a full server, bank Wooden Keys from every kill, and enchant the Emotion Drums at the Blacksmith once it finally drops. If you already own strong Kokushibo-tier gear, the value here is mostly in the new weapon and the armor accessory rather than the guaranteed material stack.
