Each step changes your fruit, swaps the visual theme, and applies a 42x income speed multiplier on top of everything you already have. To start evolving, you first have to unlock the Void Portal and pass through it to the Void Altar.

Reach the Void Altar and evolve your fruit
The Void does not hand you a new fruit the moment you arrive. Instead, it runs on its own progress system, and you have to complete its objectives before the evolution unlocks at the Void Altar.
How to confirm the evolution worked
You know an evolution has triggered when your fruit theme changes across the whole map. Every one of the eight income sources keeps the same structure but gains the new fruit prefix, so your Lemon Stand becomes an Orange Stand, your Lemon Dash becomes an Orange Dash, and so on through Orange X on the Moon. The 42x income speed multiplier applies immediately, and the evolution stays locked in permanently no matter how many times you Ascend afterward.
Why evolutions stall, and when to evolve
Evolution progress is tied directly to your Investor count, and each evolution resets that count to zero. That reset is the most common reason players feel stuck. If you evolve too early, you lose the percentage cash bonus your investors were providing, which can leave you weaker than before the 42x boost is worth it.
The reliable fix is to wait until your Investor Bonus is at least 200% before pulling the trigger. Each investor grants a 1% cash bonus, and the UFO Key doubles that to 2%, so grabbing the UFO Key early speeds up every future evolution. For the later Void Evolutions, the same 200% rule still applies because the investor totals climb into astronomical territory.
Note: Evolution and Ascend multiply each other rather than competing. A practical split is spending roughly 10–20% of your resources on Evolution and 80–90% on Ascend cycles, since neither system reaches its full power without the other.
