Song of the Whale Arc in Neverness to Everness: How to Get It and Stats

Song of the Whale Arc in Neverness to Everness: How to Get It and Stats

The Song of the Whale is an S-Rank Plasma Arc in Neverness to Everness (NTE) that drops once from the Deep Blue Sorrow Anomaly Commission in the New Herland District. It is the strongest free Plasma Arc currently available in the overworld and is widely slotted on Aurelia, with use cases on other Plasma DPS units who scale with ATK and benefit from extra damage against Broken enemies.

Quick answer: Buy a 4-wheeled vehicle, drive through Nautili Tunnel, follow the chase road into the Anomalous Realm, and defeat the Sea Prisoner. The Arc is delivered as the one-time reward for clearing Deep Blue Sorrow.

Song of the Whale stats and skill

The Arc rolls ATK% as its substat and provides a flat ATK buff layered with bonus damage against Broken targets. Its skill, named Tides Within, also restores HP when the wearer kills a Broken enemy, with a 30-second internal cooldown.

Requirements before starting Deep Blue Sorrow

The encounter has a hard prerequisite that catches most players off guard. The Sea Prisoner only triggers if you arrive in a 4-wheeled vehicle. Motorcycles and other 2-wheelers do nothing.

  • City Tycoon Level 2 unlocked, which grants Garage access through the Good Morning, Hetherau guide quest.
  • A purchased 4-wheeled car. The cheapest option is the C2000 from Novus Vehicle Dealership in Bridge Crossings for 50,000 Fons.
  • Travel access to the Nautili Tunnel between Bridge Crossings and New Herland District.

The fight itself scales to your level, so Hunter Level is not a gate. Lower-level teams can clear it if they handle the parry mechanic.

How to trigger the Sea Prisoner encounter

Step 1: Equip a 4-wheeled car from your Garage and drive to the Nautili Tunnel that links Bridge Crossings to New Herland District. Approaching on foot or by bike will not start the Anomaly Zone.

Step 2: Enter the tunnel and keep driving forward without stopping. You will see an Anomaly Zone notification appear at the top of the screen, which confirms the trigger has fired.

Step 3: Stay on the water road through the cutscene transition into the Anomalous Realm. Do not slow down, do not exit the vehicle, and do not turn around. Stopping resets the chase, and you will need to drive through the tunnel again.

Step 4: Continue along the road until you reach the Sea Prisoner's Arena at the end of the chase. The boss fight begins automatically once you arrive.

How to beat the Sea Prisoner

The Sea Prisoner is a Liquid-element boss with a single mandatory mechanic that defines the fight. It telegraphs a heavy dive attack where it leaps high and crashes down on the player. This attack must be parried with a Reversal skill, otherwise it deals very high damage and can one-shot under-leveled units.

Step 1: Keep at least one character with a reliable Reversal in the active slot. Hold the Reversal input as soon as the boss rises out of the water for the dive. A successful parry interrupts the slam and opens a long counter window.

Step 2: Avoid Liquid-element teammates if possible. The boss resists Liquid damage, so Plasma, Anima, Solid, or Gas DPS units will clear it faster.

Step 3: Punish the post-parry stagger and the boss's recovery frames after its sweeping tail attacks. These are the highest damage windows.

Step 4: After the HP bar is depleted, contain the anomaly through the prompt that appears on screen. The commission is marked complete only after containment, not after the HP bar empties.

How to claim the Song of the Whale

Once Deep Blue Sorrow shows as completed in the Anomagram, the Arc is delivered automatically. Open the Inventory and check the Arcs tab to confirm Song of the Whale is present at Level 1, Refinement 1. There is no separate redemption step and no mailbox claim required.

If the Arc does not appear, the most common reasons are:

  • The boss was defeated in a co-op session where another player owned the commission, so the trigger counted on their account, not yours.
  • The containment prompt at the end of the fight was skipped or interrupted, leaving the commission in an incomplete state. Replay the fight and complete the containment to finalize it.
  • You are looking under Cartridges instead of Arcs. The Arc tab is the weapon slot.

Best characters for Song of the Whale

Plasma DPS units that scale with ATK and benefit from the Broken-state damage bonus get the most out of this Arc. Aurelia is the signature pairing because her kit reliably puts enemies into the Broken state, which keeps both the damage multiplier and the heal effect active throughout her rotation.

The Arc is one-time only per account. There is no farmable repeat drop, so plan around Refinement 1 stats when comparing it to gacha-pulled alternatives.
