Rift Eggs in Steal an Egg are not stolen, spawned, or bought. They are traded for. The Rift portal names three specific pets, and handing all three over is the only way to get one. The slow part is never the portal itself, it is chasing the wrong eggs in the wrong biomes and burning hatch timers on rarities that do not count.

How The Rift sacrifice works in Steal an Egg

The Rift is a portal you interact with directly. It displays three pet requests at a time, each one tied to a rarity and a biome where that pet can be hatched. Feed it all three and it returns a single Rift Egg, with the on-screen confirmation reading “A Rift Egg joins your eggs!”

The requests are not static. Every completed sacrifice rerolls the list into a new trio, so the pets you needed for your first Rift Egg are irrelevant for the second. Three request sets seen so far give a sense of the spread:

Steal the requested eggs from the right biome

Interact with The Rift and note all three pets before you move. Each entry tells you the pet name, its rarity, and the biome it belongs to, which is your entire shopping list for that summon.

Travel to the first listed biome and steal an egg there. Prehistoric, Cosmic, and Cherry Blossom each hold their own egg types, and colour is a useful shortcut once you know the zone — Cosmic eggs run violet, Cherry Blossom eggs are pink and white.

Repeat the theft for the other two biomes before you hatch anything. Batching the runs first means all three eggs sit in your inventory at once and you can sort out rarities in a single pass.

Check egg rarity in the inventory before hatching

This is the single biggest time saver. Every stolen egg shows its rarity in the All Items inventory, so you can confirm whether it is Rare, Epic, Mythic, or something else without committing it to your pen. The Rift will not accept a Centipede if it asked for an Epic Centipede and you hand it a lower tier.

Open the Eggs tab, read the rarity line on each egg, and set aside anything that does not match the request. Wrong-rarity eggs are not wasted, they just go back into your normal collection instead of eating a hatch slot you need right now.

Hatch the smallest eggs first to cut cooldown time

Egg size directly affects hatch time. Between two eggs of the same type, the smaller one finishes noticeably sooner, so when you have a choice of duplicates, always send the smallest matching egg to the pen. Over three sacrifices per Rift Egg, that difference stacks up fast.

Place your three qualifying eggs in the pen together rather than one at a time, and use the Skip Growth prompt when it appears to move a hatched pet along instead of waiting it out.

Complete the sacrifice and confirm the Rift Egg

Return to The Rift with all three hatched pets in hand and open the sacrifice menu. It lists your pets with their weights, and requested pets can be selected from that list.

Add each of the three pets to the sacrifice slots, then confirm. The pets are consumed, so do not load in a pet you want to keep for income.

Watch for the “A Rift Egg joins your eggs!” message. That is your confirmation the trade worked, and the egg will be waiting in your egg inventory alongside your normal biome eggs.

Place the Rift Egg in your pen and hatch it. Rift Eggs can be stockpiled, so if you have run several sacrifices you can drop multiple Rift Eggs into the pen in one go.

What Rift Eggs hatch into

Rift Eggs sit at the high end of the pet pool. Confirmed hatches include the Mythic Shardling and the Cosmic Silver Shattered Ram, both well above what a standard biome egg tends to produce.

Note: because the request list rerolls after every summon, the fastest players keep spare pets of common request rarities on hand rather than starting each biome run from scratch.

Why a Rift summon does not trigger

One of the three pets is the right species but the wrong rarity, which is why the inventory check matters before hatching.
You are holding an unhatched egg instead of the pet. The sacrifice slots take pets only.
Only two of the three requested pets are ready. The trade will not process partially.
