The Blood of Dawnwalker: Riverbank Treasure Map Solution

Where to steal the map near Svortrau City, where to dig, and what the buried chest actually contains.

Where to steal the map near Svortrau City, where to dig, and what the buried chest actually contains.

The Riverbank treasure map is one of the more rewarding bandit stashes in Vale Sangora, mostly because the chest at the end of it holds a legendary sword rather than the usual handful of coins and trinkets. The catch is that the illustration on the map is vague, and the spot it points to sits on the opposite side of Svortrau City from where you pick the map up.

Quick answer: Steal the Treasure Map: Riverbank from the sack beside the tent at the small bandit camp southeast of Svortrau City, then travel northwest of the city into the Middens and dig the dirt mound near the river fork to unearth The Kingslayer.

Treasure Map: Riverbank location (bandit camp southeast of Svortrau City)

The map itself is loot, not a quest reward, so nothing marks it on your map until you physically pick it up. It sits in an outdoor bandit camp rather than inside a building, which makes it easy to walk past.

Open the world map and set your route toward the camps south and southeast of Svortrau City. The area is dotted with small outlaw sites, and the one you want is the eastern camp of the cluster.

Clear the bandits holding the camp. There is a reasonable amount of loose loot here in crates, sacks and on the bodies, including manuals, balms and jewellery, so it is worth a sweep before you leave.

Head to the tent at the eastern camp and check the sack propped against it. Taking the Treasure Map: Riverbank counts as stealing, and it starts the Bandit’s Treasure Map: Riverbank activity in your journal.

Where the Riverbank treasure is buried

Open the map item and you get a drawing of a river splitting into two branches, with no compass, no labels and no in-game waypoint. That fork is northwest of Svortrau City, in the Middens, on the bank itself rather than up in the surrounding hills.

Compare the drawing with your own map and place a custom marker on the river fork northwest of Svortrau City. Dropping your own marker is the fastest way to navigate, since the activity does not add one for you.

Travel to the marker and walk down to the water’s edge. Focus Mode makes the dig site much easier to pick out, since the mound of loose earth blends into the riverbank at a glance.
Interact with the dirt mound to dig. As with every buried stash in the game, you need a shovel to break ground, and the dig consumes part of your day, so do it when you can spare the time.

Riverbank treasure chest rewards

Looting the chest closes out the activity and hands over the whole stash at once. The headline item is the legendary sword; the rest is sellable or immediately usable.

How to confirm the activity completed

The moment the chest is emptied, Bandit’s Treasure Map: Riverbank is marked as ended in the journal and the map itself stops being an active objective. The Kingslayer appears in your inventory straight away and can be equipped from there.

If nothing happens when you reach the riverbank, the usual causes are simple. You have not picked up the Treasure Map: Riverbank yet, so the mound is not interactive; you are carrying no shovel, which blocks the dig prompt; or you are standing at the wrong stretch of water and need to follow the fork shown in the illustration rather than the nearest bend.

Note: The camp guards are ordinary bandits rather than a boss encounter, so this stash is one of the cheaper legendary weapons to pick up early. If you are stockpiling treasure maps, the dig itself is the only part that costs you meaningful time.
