The King is one of the Bleach-inspired units added to Universal Tower Defense Z in Update 4.0, modeled on the antagonist Yhwach. It is a Boundless-rarity unit that evolves into The Almighty King, unlocking a form-switching Active Ability called The Almighty. Getting it comes down to grinding a single endgame stage.
Quick answer: Clear the Moonless Sky Rift for a 6% chance at The King, or run it 25 times to hit pity and receive the unit guaranteed. Pity resets once you own it.
How to get The King in Universal Tower Defense Z
The King drops from the Moonless Sky Rift, one of the endgame Tear stages. Reach the Universal Tear portal behind the World Train building, then pick the Moonless Sky Rift from the available stages. You can run it solo or in a group of up to four players.
Each completion gives a 6% chance to award the unit. If the drop keeps missing, the pity system guarantees The King after 25 clears. That pity counter resets the moment you obtain the character, and a lucky run can hand you the Shiny variant instead.
Tears are also a strong source of Gems and other powerful units, so the runs you spend chasing The King are not wasted even before it drops.

Add to Google Preferences →Evolution requirements for The Almighty King
Once you own The King, open the Evolutions menu, select the unit, and press the “Evolve!” button after gathering everything below. This turns it into The Almighty King and unlocks its full passive kit.
| Material | Amount | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Fragment | 5 | Merchant / Virtual Merchant, Challenge maps |
| Phantom Fragment | 6 | Merchant / Virtual Merchant, Challenge maps |
| Ocean Fragment | 12 | Merchant / Virtual Merchant, Challenge maps |
| Blade of the Patriarch | 1 | Moonless Sky Rift — 10% drop (15 pity) |
| Infused Spirit Blade | 1 | Moonless Sky Rift — 10% drop (15 pity) |
| Boundless Orb | 1 | Moonless Sky Rift — 2% drop (40 pity) |
| Gold | 50,000 | Earned from clearing stages |
All three evolution items share the same Moonless Sky Rift you farm for the unit, so plan to keep running it well past your first drop. The Boundless Orb is the rarest piece at a 2% chance and a 40-clear pity.
The Almighty King passives and forms
The Almighty King does not scale through Critical Rate or Critical Damage. Its damage comes from Blue Burn, applied on every attack, and it grows stronger for each allied unit sitting inside its range. The Active Ability then reshapes its kit by switching between two forms.
Reishi Manipulation: On each attack, the unit applies Blue Burn worth 20% Damage to every unit in range for 5 ticks.
The Almighty (Active Ability): Triggers the form choice on a 30-second cooldown. Self Buff transfers Stun and Debuffs from itself to allies in range. Other Buff pulls Stun and Debuffs from allies onto itself. Each grants a new passive.
All-Seeing Eye: This passive rewrites itself depending on the form selected in The Almighty, and it grants Stun Immunity in every case.

All-Seeing Eye (Self Buff)
- Every owned unit in range loses 20% Damage and 20% Range, while The Almighty King gains 35% Damage per unit (capped at 150%).
- On attack, it makes a Follow-up Attack for 100% Damage.
- On Stun or Debuff, it removes the effect, passes it to a random ally in range, and gains +50% Damage for 10 seconds.
All-Seeing Eye (Other Buff)
In this form, an ally in range that receives a Debuff gains +50% Damage for 10 seconds. The unit also buffs nearby allies based on the game mode being played.
| Game mode | Ally buffs |
|---|---|
| World Raid | -30% Cost, +40% Damage, +30% Elemental Damage, +100% Boss Damage |
| Rift | +55% Damage, -10% SPA |
| Ultra Boss | +40% Damage, +50% Hyper Armor Damage, +75% Boss Raid Damage |
| Raid | +45% Hyper Armor Damage, +50% Damage |
| Infinite | +2.5% Damage per wave after placement (cap +200%), -1% SPA per wave (cap -10%) |
| Other modes | +45% Damage |
You can flip between the two forms freely during a match, so switch based on whether you want The Almighty King to soak debuffs for the team or hand them off and buff itself.
Key stats and build notes
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Boundless |
| Spawn cost | 2,000 Yen |
| Type | Utility, Ground |
| Best trait | Ruler |
| Stat target | At least an S stat grade |
To push The Almighty King further, roll the Ruler Trait and aim for an S grade or better from Stat Rerolls. Because its damage leans on Blue Burn and buff potency rather than crits, relic and stat priorities should favor Damage and DoT over Critical lines.
You will know the evolution worked when the unit’s name updates to The Almighty King in your inventory and the Active Ability form menu becomes available in-match. If the “Evolve!” button stays greyed out, you are missing one of the fragments, blades, the Boundless Orb, or the 50,000 Gold.
