With more than 130 chickens hatching out of a couple dozen egg types, Grow a Chicken Fighter gives you far more birds than you can realistically feed, level, and fuse. Most of them are farming tools or fusion fodder. Only a handful actually carry you through Tower floors and win fights in the central Pit, and the gap between those and everything else is enormous once stats start scaling.
Quick answer: Build a Reaper Rooster and fuse it with a Doll Hen for the Voodoo skill, or build a 404 Chick and fuse it with a Radiant Fenghuang for Cycle of Ash. Those two pairings are the current meta for both Tower and Chaos.
How the rankings were scored
Three things decide placement here: how a chicken performs in the Tower, how it holds up in Chaos fights in the central Pit, and how much its stats scale once you invest levels and gene upgrades into it. Fusion value counts as a fourth factor, because a bird with weak stats and an excellent skill can still be worth hatching purely to pass that skill along.
These placements reflect the meta as of Update #1 in August 2026. The chickens added in that update did not shift the top of the list. A few spots are genuinely contested across the community, mainly Baron Cluck and Nebula Hen, and those are flagged below.
Grow a Chicken Fighter chicken tier list
| Tier | Chickens |
|---|---|
| S | Reaper Rooster, 404 Chick, Nebula Hen |
| A | Baron Cluck, Golden Goose, Astro Chick, Founder Rooster |
| B | Cosmo Brat, Radiant Fenghuang, Doll Hen, Phoenix Hen, Sergeant Hen |
| C | Farmer Rooster, Classic Rooster |
Note: Baron Cluck is treated as an S-tier pick by plenty of players, and the argument holds up early. It clears the first stretch of Tower floors almost effortlessly and is cheap to obtain. It just runs out of headroom in the late game, which is why it sits in A here.
Why the S-tier chickens beat everything else
Reaper Rooster has the highest base stats currently in the game and keeps scaling well past the point where mid-tier birds flatten out. It works in the Tower and in Chaos without needing a specific setup, which is rare. Fused with a Doll Hen, it becomes the single strongest fighter you can field.
404 Chick is the Chaos specialist. Its scaling potential is roughly on par with the Reaper, and it is comfortable in the Tower too, but it really pulls ahead in Pit fights once it is carrying Cycle of Ash. If you only ever build one bird for PvP, this is the one.
Nebula Hen is the underrated third option. At max level it matches the Reaper and 404 Chick for attack and speed while holding a higher HP pool, which matters in longer fights. The catch is that it starts weak, so it needs real investment before it looks impressive. Pair it with Cycle of Ash and it competes at the top.
The A tier is where most players spend the mid-game. Baron Cluck farms money quickly and drops the Fortune Egg, which is how you get a Golden Goose. Golden Goose is tanky and good for the Tower, but its low movement speed makes it a poor Chaos pick. Astro Chick is a well-rounded all-rounder with a 70 percent chance to lay Void Eggs, making it the most efficient early route to a Nebula Hen. Founder Rooster is the easiest of the group to obtain because six different eggs can drop it, and Titan Mode makes it a solid Tower bird until something better shows up.
Where to get every ranked chicken
Blazing Eggs come from the Hot Event and carry the best hatch odds for the high-rarity birds, but they are difficult to farm. The alternative eggs listed below are easier to accumulate at lower rates.
| Chicken | Eggs that drop it |
|---|---|
| Reaper Rooster | Haunt Egg, Blazing Egg |
| 404 Chick | Cursed Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Nebula Hen | Void Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Baron Cluck | Royal Egg, Arena Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Golden Goose | Fortune Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Astro Chick | Thunder Egg, Void Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Founder Rooster | Ordnance, Fang, Fortune, Royal, Thunder, Blazing |
| Radiant Fenghuang | Royal Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Doll Hen | Haunt Egg, Blazing Egg |
| Phoenix Hen | Royal Egg |
| Cosmo Brat | Nest Egg, Scratch Egg |
| Sergeant Hen | Thunder Egg, Scratch Egg |
| Farmer Rooster | Nest Egg, Scratch Egg |
| Classic Rooster | Nest Egg |
Grow a Chicken Fighter skill tier list
Skills matter as much as base stats, and because you can move them between birds through fusion, a weak chicken with a great skill is still worth hatching. These rankings assume the skill is on a chicken that can actually use it.
| Tier | Skills |
|---|---|
| S | Voodoo, Cycle of Ash, Rebirth |
| A | Stormcall, Ride of the Fallen, Blood Draw, Split Image, Za Warudo |
| B | Titan Mode, Judgement, Black Hole |
| C | Web Shot, Energy Wave |
What each ranked skill does
| Skill (source chicken) | Effect |
|---|---|
| Voodoo — Doll Hen | Reflects incoming damage back at the enemy and follows with a multi-hit burst attack. |
| Cycle of Ash — Radiant Fenghuang | Restores HP over a few seconds and deals heavy burst damage to the opposing chicken. |
| Rebirth — Phoenix Hen | Revives at 50 percent max HP after the first defeat, fires an AoE attack, and grants roughly three seconds of invincibility. |
| Stormcall — Storm Colossus | Wide AoE damage that works in both Chaos and Tower, and is especially strong during the Chicken Boss event. |
| Ride of the Fallen — Valkyrie Hen | Heals over time while boosting attack and speed. Best on fragile birds. |
| Blood Draw — Vampire Rooster | Raises damage while active and ends with a burst hit that knocks the enemy back. |
| Split Image — Twin Rooster | Summons an identical copy with the same stats for a few seconds. |
| Za Warudo — Baron Cluck, Golden Goose | Freezes the enemy in place, then lands heavy burst damage. |
| Titan Mode — Founder Rooster | Grows the chicken for a short window, adding damage, bulk, and speed. |
| Judgement — Jackal Rooster | One large hit of damage. Useful in Chaos. |
| Black Hole — Cosmo Brat | AoE pull and damage, but enemies have to be close for it to land. |
| Web Shot — Spider Chicken | Slows the opponent. Serviceable in both modes early on. |
| Energy Wave — Crest Rooster | Basic AoE damage. Falls off quickly in the Tower. |
Za Warudo deserves a specific mention for newer players. It is easy to obtain from Baron Cluck, requires no setup, and the freeze-then-burst pattern is forgiving enough that it carries early Tower floors on its own. Titan Mode is the opposite case, strong for a short burst but with a duration too brief to justify putting it on a Reaper Rooster or 404 Chick.
Fusion pairs worth building
Nebula Hen also takes Cycle of Ash well, and it is the better long-term home for that skill if you have the patience to level it. Phoenix Hen is a reasonable interim carrier for Rebirth while you work toward one of the top two combinations.
What to level at each stage
| Stage | What to prioritize |
|---|---|
| First hour | Classic Rooster and Farmer Rooster only until you can lay Scratch Eggs. Farmer Rooster caps at 12 gene levels, so treat it as disposable. |
| Early game | Cosmo Brat for a 100 percent Scratch Egg lay rate every 2 minutes 40 seconds, plus Baron Cluck or Founder Rooster as your fighter. |
| Mid game | Astro Chick to farm Void Eggs, Baron Cluck to farm Fortune Eggs for Golden Goose, and Za Warudo or Titan Mode as your active skill. |
| Late game | One of Reaper Rooster, 404 Chick, or Nebula Hen, fused with Voodoo or Cycle of Ash. Retire everything else to egg-laying duty. |
The mistake worth avoiding is pouring gene levels into B-tier birds. Cosmo Brat, Radiant Fenghuang, and Doll Hen all have low stat ceilings and exist to lay eggs or hand over a skill, not to fight. Keep one of each, level none of them, and put everything you save into a bird that will still be relevant fifty Tower floors from now.
Grow a Chicken Fighter is still new enough that the developer is adding birds regularly, and a single balance pass could move Nebula Hen or Baron Cluck a full tier in either direction. The top two fusion combinations have held steady through the most recent update, but it is worth re-checking your roster after each patch rather than assuming the ranking is fixed.
