Where Winds Meet: Toxic Traditions Walkthrough in Hangrock Hamlet

Heal three sick villagers, swap apology gifts between the Cai and Di families, and collect 30 Echo Jade.

Heal three sick villagers, swap apology gifts between the Cai and Di families, and collect 30 Echo Jade.

Toxic Traditions is a short Wandering Tale that plays out almost entirely inside a single wooden house in Hangrock Hamlet, the settlement tucked into the Mirkvale area of Heaven’s Threshold in the Hidden Mountain. It starts with three villagers groaning on the floor with Indigestion and ends with a bottle of wine and a roast chicken being passed back and forth between two families who each think they owe the other an apology.

Quick answer: Heal Du Dazhuang, Gou’er, and Cai Sanniang of Indigestion upstairs in Hangrock Hamlet, talk to Cai Sanniang, then head downstairs and left to Di Juan for the Apologetic Sweet Slumber. Give it to Cai Sanniang, take the Apologetic Roast Chicken she hands back, and deliver it to Di Juan to finish the quest.

Where to start Toxic Traditions in Hangrock Hamlet

The fastest route is the Hangrock Hamlet landmark teleport. From the landing point, follow the wooden walkways down into the house where you can hear villagers groaning, then take the stairs to the upper floor. All three patients are in the same room, so you never need to leave the building until the delivery part of the quest.

Healing is the trigger here, not conversation. If you talk to the villagers before treating them, nothing moves forward.

Cure all three villagers of Indigestion

Approach Du Dazhuang upstairs and use your healing arts on him. Diagnose him, confirm the Indigestion condition, and channel inner energy to clear it.

Turn to Gou’er in the same room and repeat the process. The diagnosis screen lists Indigestion, and the “One Life, One Price” prompt bound to F is what applies the cure.

Finish with Cai Sanniang, the third patient in the room. Once her Indigestion clears, the family is fully treated and she becomes talkable.
Speak with Cai Sanniang. She explains the wine that made everyone sick, and the conversation registers the first Wandering Tales clue in your quest log.

Trade the apology items between the Cai and Di families

The second half is pure fetch work between two spots that are seconds apart. Di Juan runs the wine shop on the lower floor, and the quest log pins her exact position in Hangrock Hamlet if you lose track of the route.

Go back down the wooden stairs and turn left to reach Di Juan. Choose the option to tell her about the Cai family matter, and she hands over the Apologetic Sweet Slumber.

Return upstairs and give the Apologetic Sweet Slumber to Cai Sanniang. She accepts it and passes you the Apologetic Roast Chicken to carry back the other way.
Head down to Di Juan one more time and hand over the Apologetic Roast Chicken. She eats it during the closing dialogue and promptly falls ill herself, which is where the quest earns its name.

How to confirm the quest is finished

Handing the roast chicken to Di Juan closes the quest immediately. The reward screen appears on screen, and Toxic Traditions is marked as completed in the Wandering Tales menu with the Echo Jade, Hidden Mountain Exploration, Coin, and EXP totals listed.

If progress stalls, it is almost always one of two things. Cai Sanniang will not give you the first clue until all three villagers upstairs have been cured of Indigestion, and the dialogue option about the Cai family matter only shows up with Di Juan after that conversation has happened.

Note: Hangrock Hamlet sits inside the wider Mirkvale area, which becomes reachable west of Heaven’s Threshold in the northernmost part of the Hidden Mountain. If the region is still locked for you, the Wandering Tale will not be available yet.

The whole run takes a couple of minutes once you know the layout, and the only real requirement is a healing skill capable of clearing Indigestion. Everything else is a short walk up and down one staircase.
