Fragile Tarstones are a separate class of Support Tarstone in Mortal Shell 2 that wear down and eventually shatter with use. Instead of a permanent passive, each one runs on a durability meter, and when that meter hits zero the stone breaks and pays out a lump-sum reward. They are the most reliable way to stockpile Gold Coins, Gloom, and Glimpses, and one of them lets you survive a death inside a dungeon.
Quick answer: Kill Lithopods in Fainweald and the Ruins of Mammon to farm the Justiciar’s, Gloombound, and Egon’s Stones. The Glimpse Stone only drops from Obsidian Lithopods in The Unfound Path, the endgame area that opens once you collect and gloom siphon 167 Ova in the Ova Nursery.

How Fragile Tarstones work
Unlike standard Tarstones, which are usually unique and can only be found once per playthrough, Fragile Tarstones are non-unique. You can pick up multiple copies of each, which matters because they are consumable. Every Fragile Tarstone sits in the Support slot, so you can have up to four of them equipped at the same time, and there are exactly four types to fill those slots.
Each stone carries a durability value that drops as you play. Some deplete based on the resource you gain, one drops per enemy you defeat, and one drops each time it saves you from death. When durability runs out, the stone breaks, delivers its payout, and also leaves behind Tarcore. They cannot be upgraded at the Tarforge and have no separate tiers, so what you equip is exactly what you get.

Add to Google Preferences →Every Fragile Tarstone effect and durability
| Stone | Effect | On break | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Justiciar’s Stone | +30% Coin from slain foes | Grants 1,500 Coins | 5,000 (drops as bonus Coin is gained) |
| Gloombound Stone | +30% Gloom from slain foes | Grants 3,000 Gloom | 10,000 (drops as bonus Gloom is gained) |
| Egon’s Stone | On death inside a dungeon, offers a revive at its entrance | Prevents Gloom loss for that death | 3 (drops on each activation) |
| Glimpse Stone | None while equipped | Grants 3 Glimpses | 20 (drops per enemy defeated) |
The Justiciar’s and Gloombound Stones are pure economy tools. Run them while clearing enemies to boost your income, then collect the flat bonus when they crack. The Glimpse Stone has no active effect at all; it exists solely to hand over three Glimpses after you clear 20 enemies with it slotted. Egon’s Stone is the safety net, giving you three chances to revive at a dungeon entrance and shielding your Gloom on the death that spends the final charge.

Where to farm each Fragile Tarstone
Fragile Tarstones only come from Lithopods, the stone crab creatures that burrow into the ground and lunge when you get close. Kill enough of them and the four types drop from their remains. They can also be purchased from Merrick in the Marrow Keep for coins.
| Stone | Source | Best farming spot |
|---|---|---|
| Justiciar’s Stone | Lithopods in Fainweald and Ruins of Mammon | Outskirts of Nochte beacon |
| Gloombound Stone | Lithopods in Fainweald and Ruins of Mammon | Outskirts of Nochte beacon |
| Egon’s Stone | Lithopods in Fainweald and Ruins of Mammon | Outskirts of Nochte beacon |
| Glimpse Stone | Obsidian Lithopods in The Unfound Path | Chamber of the Forsaken beacon |
The Justiciar’s, Gloombound, and Egon’s Stones can all fall from ordinary Lithopods throughout the game, so any patch of these enemies will eventually cough them up. The cluster right beside the Outskirts of Nochte beacon is the most efficient place to grind all three, since you can reset and re-clear it quickly.

Getting the Glimpse Stone in The Unfound Path
The Glimpse Stone is the exception. It does not drop from standard Lithopods anywhere in the base map. Instead, it only comes from Obsidian Lithopods, an upgraded variant marked by a glossy black carapace. These enemies are exclusive to The Unfound Path, the region beneath the Marrow Keep.
Because The Unfound Path only unlocks in the endgame, plan on treating the Glimpse Stone as a late-game resource rather than something you can stock early.

Getting the most out of them
Since these stones are consumable and stack in the Support slots, the practical approach is to keep spares on hand and swap in a fresh copy the moment one breaks. Run the Justiciar’s and Gloombound Stones whenever you plan a long enemy-clearing session to convert kills into extra Coins and Gloom, and slot Egon’s Stone before risky dungeon runs so a bad death costs you nothing. The Glimpse Stone is worth carrying whenever you want a steady trickle of Glimpses from endgame combat.
