Mortal Shell 2: How to Farm Glimpse in The Unfound Path

Glimpse is the currency that raises Shell Bonds in Mortal Shell 2, and for most of a playthrough there simply isn’t enough of it to go around. Cleansed Beacons, Corrupted Gates, and the Gloom Siphon in Marrow Keep hand out a fixed amount, which covers roughly three Shells at maximum Bond. The Glimpse Stone is what turns that finite pool into a renewable one, but only one enemy type in the entire game drops it, and it is not the stone crab you fought twenty hours ago.

Quick answer: Kill Lithopods (stone crabs) in The Unfound Path to collect Glimpse Stones, equip one Glimpse Stone at a time, then defeat 20 enemies to break it for 3 Glimpses. Stone crabs anywhere else in the game do not drop them.

How the Glimpse Stone works

The Glimpse Stone is a Fragile Tarstone added in the Week 1 Update. It doesn’t grant anything when you pick it up. Instead, it sits in a Tarstone slot with a durability value, and every enemy you defeat while it’s equipped chips one point off that value. When durability hits zero, the stone shatters and pays out.

Because Fragile Tarstones don’t stack, the kill count is a hard bottleneck. Twenty enemies always equals three Glimpses, no matter how many stones are sitting in your inventory. That means the farm splits into two separate jobs — collecting stones, then burning through them.

Why early-game stone crabs are a dead end

Lithopods appear in several regions long before the endgame, and they look identical to the ones that matter. The crabs in Sanguine Cavern and other early areas will never drop a Glimpse Stone, no matter how many times you clear them. Their drop table is limited to other Fragile Tarstones — Egon’s Stone, Justiciar’s Stone, and Gloombound Stone.

Note: Mini-Beacons also stopped awarding Glimpse after the Week 1 Update, so any route built around repeatedly visiting them no longer pays out, even though the locations themselves are still on the map.

Unlocking The Unfound Path

The Unfound Path is an endgame area, and reaching it is the only real requirement for this farm. You need 167 Ova, gathered from Corrupted Gates and cleansed Beacons, and then you feed them into the Gloom Siphon inside Marrow Keep. An underground passage opens up in the Keep that leads into the area.

Once you’re inside, push forward until you reach the Chamber of the Forsaken mini beacon in the cave. That beacon is your reset point for the collection loop.

Farming route: collecting Glimpse Stones

The fastest version of this loop skips combat almost entirely. Pair the Forgotten Crossbow with the Shuddering Stone, which adds heavy knockback to every bolt. A single shot is enough to shove a Lithopod off a ledge, which kills it outright.

Rest at the Chamber of the Forsaken beacon to set your respawn point and reset the enemies. Confirm the Forgotten Crossbow is your active Sidearm and the Shuddering Stone is equipped before you move.
Turn around from the beacon and descend through the cave toward the exit. The route is short and holds no enemies worth stopping for.
When you emerge, three Lithopods are spread out ahead of you — one directly in front, one to your left, and one further off to the right. All three can drop a Glimpse Stone.

Fire a bolt at each one to knock it over the edge. You don’t need to melee them or bait attacks, and you don’t need weapon upgrades for this to work.

Run back to the beacon and rest to respawn all three crabs, then repeat. A full cycle takes about 15 seconds and averages roughly one Glimpse Stone per run, so around 15 minutes of this covers most players’ needs.

There’s a longer variant if you prefer to fight. Starting from The Hidden Nave beacon, head right and drop down the cliffside, clear the first three stone crabs along the path, then follow the trail around and finish the remaining crabs before returning to the beacon to reset. It’s slower, but it clears more crabs per lap — a full circuit can bank seven Glimpse Stones, which is 21 Glimpses once they’ve all broken.

Fastest way to break Glimpse Stones

Collecting stones is the quick half. Grinding out 20 kills per stone is where the real time goes, so pick the cheapest enemies in the game.

Equip a Glimpse Stone along with the Charged Stone and the Ballistazooka as your Sidearm. The Forgotten Crossbow works too, but the Ballistazooka is easier to aim at small targets.
Rest at the Blackridge Pass Beacon and turn around. Two bats hang from the tree just across the bridge, and both die to a single shot without any weapon investment.
Fire twice, rest at the beacon to respawn them, and repeat. That’s roughly two kills every five seconds, which works out to one stone broken about every 50 seconds.

How many Glimpse Stones you need for every Shell

Fully upgrading one Shell costs exactly 27 Glimpses. A normal playthrough gives you enough for three Shells, which leaves five to fund entirely through farming.

One Shell at max Bond27 Glimpses
Remaining five Shells135 Glimpses

Buying Glimpse Stones and refunding a bad Shell

Merrick sells Glimpse Stones once you’ve gathered enough Ova, alongside Egon’s Stone, Tarcores, and Mether’s Severance. His Tarstone stock and Mether’s Severance restock occasionally as you advance through the campaign, so check back after turning in Ova or clearing a major dungeon rather than resting at a beacon over and over.

Mether’s Severance is worth knowing about before you commit. Hand it to Zhirelle, choose a Shell, and she severs the Bond — that Shell resets and every Glimpse you spent on it comes back. Shell Points sit on a separate layer, so check both menus after a reset instead of assuming everything refunds the same way.

Confirming the farm is working

A successful crab kill shows the “NEW TARSTONE ACQUIRED” notification. If nothing appears, the crab either didn’t drop anything on that kill or you’re farming the wrong region.

For the break half, open the Tarstones menu and watch the durability figure. It should read 20/20 when fresh and drop by one with every kill. If it isn’t moving, the stone isn’t actually slotted. When it reaches zero the stone shatters and the three Glimpses land immediately.

Two things account for almost every failed attempt here. The first is farming Lithopods outside The Unfound Path, which produces other Fragile Tarstones and never a Glimpse Stone. The second is expecting more than one stone to tick down at once — only the equipped Glimpse Stone loses durability, so the spares in your inventory stay untouched until you slot them.

One caveat on availability: the Week 1 Update that introduced the Glimpse Stone went live on PC on August 29. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions are listed as coming soon, and no release date for those builds has been confirmed. Until it lands there, Glimpse remains a finite resource on console, and the safest play is to pick one Shell and fund its Bond tiers properly rather than spreading Glimpses thin across the roster.
