The Laslea Glen treasure map, the bear guarding the chest, and what the sword is worth once it’s in your hands.

The Polished Long Cleaver is one of the first swords in The Blood of Dawnwalker that carries a Weapon Art, and it is buried under a rubble pile in Laslea Glen that you can reach almost as soon as the prologue lets you loose. Getting it costs you one fight against bandits, one fight against a bear, and one time segment for the dig.

Quick answer: Take the Treasure Map: Laslea Glen from the table inside the hut at the Bandit Camp near the Outlaw’s Gorge shrine, then head east and south up the snowy path, kill the Ravenous Bear, pick up the shovel, and dig the rubble in its alcove.

What the Polished Long Cleaver does

It is a Master-tier longsword with medium attack speed, and its main draw at this stage of the game is the Weapon Art it unlocks for Coen — a bonus attack you can fire off in combat once it recharges. The stat bonuses are small percentages, but the supernatural damage line and the faster activation charge recovery both feed directly into how early fights play out.

PropertyValue

DPS106
Attack speedMedium
Perk 1+4.6% damage against supernatural enemies
Perk 2+4.6% activation charge restoration from actions
Perk 3+0.6% maximum stamina

Note: the numbers scale with the level you are at when the chest opens, so a run that grabs it at level 5 will see lower damage than one that picks it up around level 7. The perks stay the same either way.

Before you start: the one time segment cost

Digging the chest consumes one time segment. Each day and night in Vale Sangora is split into eight segments, and Coen only has 30 days and nights to reach his family, so the dig is not free. Walking to the camp, fighting the bandits and killing the bear cost you nothing — only the shovel work advances the clock.

Because of that, many players hold the dig until the Smoke and Ashes quest rather than spending a prologue segment on it. The map and the location do not expire, so you can grab the map now and come back for the chest whenever you have a segment you can afford to lose.

Get the Treasure Map: Laslea Glen from the Bandit Camp

The map is a physical pickup sitting on a table inside the bandit hut, and you cannot start the Bandits’ Treasure quest without it. The camp itself is a short walk from the Outlaw’s Gorge shrine.

Finish the prologue and open the gates so the main map becomes available. Fast travel to the Outlaw’s Gorge shrine, which doubles as your leveling and storage point.
Head for the Bandit Camp sitting just off the shrine. It is a small cluster of wooden structures and it is marked on the map once you get close enough.

Clear the camp. The named enemy here is the Renegade Bruiser, backed by regular outlaws — directional blocking and parries handle him fine at this level, and building activation charges lets you finish with an execution.
Loot the Renegade Bruiser’s body before you leave. He carries a Manual and some Denarius that are easy to walk past.
Go inside the wooden hut and take “Treasure Map: Laslea Glen” off the table. Opening it from your inventory drops a red X marker on your map and starts the Bandits’ Treasure quest.

Laslea Glen treasure location and the Ravenous Bear

The chest sits in a small rocky alcove up a snowy mountain path, east of the camp and reached by heading east from the Outlaw’s Gorge shrine and then turning south. A Ravenous Bear patrols the ground right outside it and will aggro before you reach the dig site.

Follow the marker east and up the snowy path. The terrain narrows as you climb, which makes the approach hard to miss once you are on it.

Kill the Ravenous Bear. It hits hard for this point in the game and has a wide lunge, so dodge out rather than trying to block through the combo, and punish the recovery.
Pick up the shovel lying near the bear’s spot. You cannot dig without it, and the prompt will not appear if you skip it.
Move into the alcove, stand on the disturbed dirt and rubble, and use the “Dig Out the Treasure” prompt. This is the action that spends your time segment.

What’s in the chest

The chest opens straight into the loot screen once the dig finishes. Alongside the sword you get a crafting recipe, coin, and a piece of jewelry worth selling.

You know it worked when the sword lands in your inventory and the Bandits’ Treasure quest closes out. Equip the Cleaver and the Weapon Art slot fills as you land hits, then discharges as a bonus attack — the bear that guarded the site respawns eventually if you want a target to test it on.

Common reasons the dig doesn’t trigger

  • You never opened the Treasure Map: Laslea Glen from your inventory, so the marker was never placed.
  • You walked past the shovel near the bear and have nothing to dig with.
  • The Ravenous Bear is still alive and pulling you out of the alcove before the prompt registers.
  • You are standing next to the rubble rather than on it — reposition until the prompt shows.

The Cleaver is not going to carry you deep into The Blood of Dawnwalkerstronger longswords and greatswords sit well past level 11 — but for the opening stretch it gives Coen a Weapon Art, a small edge against supernatural enemies, and a hundred Denarius toward your first real shopping trip. Grab the map early, and decide for yourself when the segment is cheap enough to spend.
