The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Find Doctor Simeon in A Study in Crimson

The “Find Doctor Simeon” objective is the point where A Study in Crimson stops being a murder investigation and turns into a fight. Simeon is not at his house and he is not on the street. He is inside the warehouse named on the property deed, and the only way to reach him is to break in from above and work your way down to the lowest floor.

Quick answer: Take the Property Deed from the table on the upper floor of Simeon’s house, follow Vicho to the warehouse, climb to the rear balcony on the third floor to get inside, then take both flights of stairs down to the basement. Entering the basement triggers the cutscene and the boss fight.

Requirements before the Find Doctor Simeon objective appears

A Study in Crimson runs at night only. Vicho is a vrakhir, so he cannot leave his shop during the day, and the quest will not advance if you turn up after sunrise. You also need at least 4 Time Segments free in the current night, otherwise Vicho tells you to come back later.

The objective itself unlocks from the doctor’s house. After the shed gives you the house key, search the interior with Focus Mode and pick up the Property Deed from the table upstairs. It names a warehouse Simeon bought from Costin the blacksmith. Show it to Vicho, tell him you are ready to leave, and he walks you to the building on foot.

How to get inside the locked warehouse

Try the ground floor doors first if you want, but both are locked and cannot be picked. The tracker updates to tell you to find another way in.

Go around to the back of the building from the spot where Vicho stops. There is a balcony on the third floor with a climbable route up to it.

Climb up and enter through the balcony. You start the interior on the top floor, with Vicho alongside you.

Where Doctor Simeon is inside the warehouse

Simeon is on the bottom floor. The route is a straight descent, but the middle floor is worth a pass with Focus Mode because it explains what he did to himself before you see the result.

Leave the top room and take the first flight of stairs down to the middle floor.

Inspect the table. Coen notes the amount of dried blood and remarks that whoever it came from could not have survived it. Vicho keeps his distance.

Check the surgical tools laid out beside it, then the human teeth scattered on and around the floor. These are the pieces that connect Simeon to his obsession with becoming a vrakhir.

Inspect the broken cage nearby. Something forced it open and killed the dog inside, and Vicho confirms the noise came from downstairs.

Take the second flight of stairs down into the basement. There is nothing else to unlock first, and stepping into the basement is what completes the objective.

How to confirm the objective completed

A cutscene plays the moment Coen and Vicho reach the basement. Coen calls out for the doctor, Vicho recognises what is left of his friend, and the objective in the tracker switches from Find Doctor Simeon to Defeat Doctor Simeon. If the tracker has not changed, you have not gone far enough down.

Note: the two things that most often stall this objective are the time of day and the front doors. If night has ended, Vicho stops moving with you and the quest waits. If you keep circling the ground floor, you will never get in, because the balcony is the only entrance.

Beating Simeon in his murohn form

Simeon has turned himself into a murohn and attacks immediately. He strikes fast with his claws and can teleport across the basement to close distance, so keep your camera on him rather than committing to long attack strings. His Piercing Shriek covers a cone directly in front of him, and sidestepping out of that cone avoids it entirely. Vicho fights alongside you, though Simeon spends most of the fight targeting Coen.

The dialogue with Vicho afterwards does not change the outcome. He settles on the conclusion that Simeon killed Eli and Devora while transformed, and the quest is marked complete.

Read the letter before you leave. Ivo is the thread that leads to The Good Samaritan out at the farms, and that is where the version of events Vicho has just accepted starts to fall apart.
