The warehouse stop in A Study in Crimson is the one place in Vicho’s investigation where The Blood of Dawnwalker stops holding your hand. Vicho walks you to the building, the objective flips to “Find another way into the warehouse,” and then nothing happens. Both doors at street level are sealed, and there is no lockpick prompt, no key in your inventory, and no interaction that opens them. The way in is above your head.
Quick answer: Go around to the back of the warehouse and use Coen’s vampiric jump to climb onto the wooden platform on the side of the building, hop to the adjacent roof, then onto the upper-floor balcony. Enter through the balcony door and the objective updates to “Find Doctor Simeon.”
Before the warehouse objective appears
The warehouse is not a location you can stumble into early. It only becomes a marked objective after you find the Property Deed on the upstairs table in Doctor Simeon’s house, which reveals that he bought the building from Costin the blacksmith. Telling Vicho you are ready to leave triggers the short walk over to the site.
Two constraints matter here. A Study in Crimson runs at night only, since Vicho is a vrakhir and cannot be outside in daylight, and the investigation portion needs roughly four time segments of night left on the clock. If you start it too late in the night, Vicho will send you away until the following evening. The warehouse also sits close to the doctor’s house in Svartrau City, so you travel there on foot rather than fast travelling.

Both entrances at street level are shut by design. The front door returns a plain “Locked” prompt, and the door around the back is barred from the inside. Neither one has a key associated with it, and Simeon’s Key, which you pick up later, is for a lockbox rather than these doors. Nothing you carry at this point in the quest changes that, so do not burn time searching the surrounding alleys for one.

Climbing to the upper balcony
The route uses Coen’s vampiric traversal, the same jump and Shadowstep movement Vicho asks you to use during the rooftop chase earlier in the quest. Do this at the rear of the building, on the side Vicho leads you to.

How to confirm the objective completed
You will know it worked immediately. A “Quest Updated” notification appears for A Study in Crimson, the tracker swaps from “Find another way into the warehouse” to “Find Doctor Simeon,” and Vicho starts calling out Simeon’s name inside the building. Coen answers with a line about looking for the good doctor. If none of that fires, you are still on the balcony rather than through the doorway.

Common reasons the climb fails
| Problem | What is happening |
|---|---|
| Doors show “Locked” | Both ground-floor doors are permanently sealed. There is no key for them at this stage. |
| Objective will not appear | You have not picked up the Property Deed upstairs in Simeon’s house, or you have not told Vicho you are ready to leave. |
| Vicho sends you away | Fewer than four time segments of night remain. Return the following night. |
| Guards interrupt the approach | High Infamy causes soldiers to recognise Coen and attack on sight. Deal with them, then resume the climb. |
| Jumps fall short | You are climbing from the front. The platform and roof route is at the rear, where Vicho stops. |
Once you are inside, the quest points you downward. There is plenty to inspect with Focus Mode across the upper floors, including Simeon’s records of his experiments, but progress requires reaching the bottom floor. That is where you find the doctor, transformed into a murohn, for the fight that closes out this stretch of the investigation with Vicho fighting at your side.
