Blox Fruits: How to Complete the Pirate Island Windmill Secret

Cut the five ropes holding the windmill, then collect a massive experience payout from the Quest Giver by the docks.

Cut the five ropes holding the windmill, then collect a massive experience payout from the Quest Giver by the docks.

The giant windmill sitting above the square in Pirate Village is not decoration. Its sails are tied down by five ropes, and freeing them is one of the Island Secrets added with Blox Fruits Update 30. It takes about a minute if you know where to swing, and it pays out one of the largest single experience rewards available in the First Sea.

Quick answer: Talk to the Quest Giver near the Pirate Village docks and pick the “Rumor” dialogue option, then slice all five rigging ropes on the windmill with any sword and return to that same NPC to claim the experience.

Pirate Village windmill secret requirements

This is a puzzle-type Island Secret, so there is no boss, no wave of enemies, and no level gate to clear first. The only hard requirement is a bladed weapon, because fruit moves and fists do not sever the rigging.

How to cut the five windmill ropes

Sail or spawn into Pirate Village and head for the docks. The Quest Giver stands right by the water, separate from the Pirates, Brute, and Chef quest entries you may already be farming.

Interact with the Quest Giver and choose “Rumor” from the list. He mentions the tavern and the punks who started showing up, which is the cue that the secret is now tracked.

Equip a sword and get up to the windmill in the middle of the village. Flight, an Air Jump, or a simple rooftop climb all work, since the rope anchor points sit on the sails and the frame rather than at ground level.
Swing at each rope. Every successful hit prints a “Rigging cut!” message with a running counter, so you always know how many are left.

The first rope registers as “Rigging cut! (1/5)” from a rooftop next to the windmill.
Circle the windmill until the counter reads 5/5. The sails start turning on their own and the game confirms the blades are spinning freely once more.
Rigging cut 5 of 5 message confirming the windmill sails are turning again
“Rigging cut! (5/5)” is the confirmation that the windmill has been freed.
Walk back to the Quest Giver at the docks and pick “Return” in his dialogue. The reward lands immediately.

Confirming the secret actually completed

There are two checkpoints, and both are on-screen text. The first is the “Rigging cut! (5/5)” line paired with the message about the blades spinning again. The second is the payout itself when you hand the quest in, which appears as an “Earned Exp.” banner followed by a stack of LEVEL UP notifications.

If you cut ropes but nothing counts, the usual cause is the weapon. Rigging responds to a sword, so swap off a fruit or fighting style before swinging. The other common miss is stopping at four, since the anchor points are spread across the frame and one is easy to fly past. Check the counter before you head back to the docks.

Windmill secret reward and how it fits into the star system

The payout is pure experience, and it is enormous. A high-level run of the secret handed over 832,384,631 Exp in one go, which pushed a level 2774 character to 2779 in a single dialogue box. Update 30 lets Island Secret experience carry you past the old ceiling, up to level 3000.

Each Island Secret you finish also awards a star. There are 40 stars spread across the 16 islands of the First Sea, and collecting all of them unlocks the Teleporter in Middle Town, which turns cleared islands into fast travel destinations.

Note: the windmill is only one of Pirate Village’s secrets, so a single star here will not open the teleporter on its own. It is, however, the fastest of the bunch, and it requires nothing more than a sword and a bit of altitude.
