Fudo is one of seven Ancient Idols scattered across Skycrest in Fisch, and it hands out a set of five trials that get progressively more demanding. Clear all five and the idol pays out the Endurance Charm, which raises your maximum stamina and adds bonus XP whenever you fish at Skycrest. The last trial is the gatekeeper here, since it locks you into a specific rod you have to buy first.
Quick answer: Complete all five Fudo trials — five perfect catches in a row, a 60-second minigame stall on a Common fish, ten perfect cast and perfect catch combos in a row, ten Giant fish caught at Skycrest, and one perfect catch on a Hunt fish using the Artisan Rod — then talk to the Fudo Idol again to receive the Endurance Charm.
All five Fudo Idol trials and recommended setups
The trials are handed out in order, so you cannot skip ahead to the ones you have gear for. Two of them can be finished anywhere in the world, one sends you back to Moosewood, one is Skycrest-only, and the final one requires a trip to Ancient Isle.
| Trial | Objective | Setup that works |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Perfect Catch 5 Fish in a row | High resilience and control rod, high resilience bait |

| 3 | Perfect Cast and Perfect Catch 10 fish in a row | Fabulous Rod (or similar high-level rod), high resilience bait |
| 4 | Directly Catch 10 Giant Fish at Skycrest | Evil Pitchfork Rod with Sea Overlord and Sea Prince |

Skycrest sits above the Fischfest 2 area. From Moosewood at (350, 135, 250), the large pink clam teleporter next to the leaderboard drops you at Fischfest 2 Island, and the Magic Conch does the same job once you have filled 50 percent of the Fischfest 2 Bestiary. Take a boat from the Shipwright out to the vertical waterfall at (-25700, 2591, -4712) and swim up it to surface on Skycrest.
Fudo stands with the other Ancient Idols — Hayate, Ebisu, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku and Amanojaku — at various points around the island. Walk up and press E to talk, and the first trial is assigned immediately. Each completed trial raises the idol’s level, so the counter shown on the idol is your progress tracker.

Note: five trials from any single Ancient Idol also satisfies the requirement to speak with the Wish for Limited Rod NPC on the left side of the island at (-26331, 3150, -4459), so finishing Fudo’s set doubles as your ticket to a limited rod wish.
Clearing the two perfect catch streak trials
Trials 1 and 3 test the same skill at different lengths. The first asks for five perfect catches back to back. The third raises the bar to ten in a row and adds a perfect cast requirement on every single one, meaning a sloppy cast breaks the chain just as fast as a missed reel.

For the Fabulous Rod or any comparable high-level rod, the perfect cast window is generous enough that you can hold a rhythm. Once trial 3 ticks over on the tenth catch, the idol level advances and the next objective is assigned on your next interaction.
How to stall the catch minigame for 60 seconds
Trial 2 is the one people overthink. You need to keep a minigame running against a Common fish for more than 60 seconds without finishing it, which means you want the weakest rod you own, not the best one.
The trial only registers when the catch is completed after the timer has passed 60 seconds, so do not release the fish once you have stalled long enough.
Catching 10 Giant fish at Skycrest
Trial 4 is pure volume, and it is locked to Skycrest waters. Giant is a size tier, so what you are actually doing is casting enough times to roll ten Giant-sized fish, which makes speed the only stat that matters.
A fast setup like the Evil Pitchfork Rod paired with Sea Overlord and Sea Prince shortens each cycle considerably. Fewer seconds per catch means more rolls per session, and the counter moves accordingly. The word “Directly” in the objective matters as well — the fish need to come off your line, so crab cage hauls and other indirect methods will not fill the bar.
Perfect catching a Hunt fish with the Artisan Rod
The final trial has a hard equipment gate. It only counts if the Hunt fish is landed with the Artisan Rod, and it has to be a perfect catch. Everything else about the setup exists to make that one catch survivable.
Claiming the Endurance Charm and confirming it worked
Return to the Fudo Idol on Skycrest and interact with it after the fifth trial completes. The idol hands over the Endurance Charm, which increases your maximum stamina and grants bonus XP for fishing at Skycrest specifically. The clearest confirmation is the charm appearing in your inventory alongside a full stamina bar that is visibly longer than before.

If a trial refuses to tick over, the cause is almost always one of a few things. The stall trial only counts against a Common fish, so a rarer catch in Moosewood Pond voids the attempt. Giant fish caught outside Skycrest do not register. And the Hunt fish trial checks which rod is equipped at the moment of the catch, so swapping to a stronger rod mid-hunt will land the Megalodon and still leave the objective at zero.
Fudo’s set is one of the tougher of the seven idols to grind, mostly because of the 80,000 C$ entry fee on the last step. If you only need five trials to unlock a limited rod wish, the easier idols will get you there faster — but the Endurance Charm is exclusive to finishing Fudo’s line, and the stamina boost pays for itself over a long Skycrest session.
