Bakir’s Distilleries: Coercion and Duress is one of the Court activities you run to push the Mad Khan’s anger meter toward his boss quest. It is a short job with a long-winded name: get inside a walled distillery yard, kill everyone guarding it, decide what to do with the man working the still, and then wreck the equipment. Skipping that last part is the most common reason players walk away thinking they finished it.
Quick answer: Enter the gated distillery courtyard, defeat every guard, deal with the Distillery Worker, then interact with the highlighted brewing equipment to destroy it. The quest closes the moment the still breaks and pays 22 XP, 250 currency, and 1 skill point for 3 time segments.
How to unlock Coercion and Duress: The Letter of Reprimand
The quest does not sit on your map from the start. Court activities in Vale Sangora stay listed as unknown until you either stumble onto them or get pointed at them, and this one has a specific trigger. Clear one of Bakir’s Pillories jobs, then search the bodies of the soldiers you killed for a Letter of Reprimand. Reading that note opens two distillery targets at once: Coercion and Duress, and Bakir’s Distilleries: Ends and Means.
You can also just walk into the distillery itself. Crossing into the restricted yard starts the quest with no note required, which is useful if you found the building before you found the pillory.
The framing is simple enough. Bakir is pumping cheap liquor into the valley to keep the population too drunk to resist the vrakhiri, and your journal entry treats shutting a still down as breaking up the party.

The still is tucked into the Neustadt district of Svartrau City, behind a gated yard in the alleys. Rooftops are the fastest approach. Open the map, set the marker, then travel across the roofs and drop into the alley beside the courtyard gate rather than fighting your way down the street.
Night is the better window. Shadowstep lets you climb walls and buildings freely after dark, and your claws hit harder than your sword, which matters in a cramped yard full of armored guards.

Sabotage the distillery: Full walkthrough

Distillery Worker dialogue choices
The worker is unarmed and will not fight you. You can kill him, feed on him, or send him running, and you can squeeze him for context first without losing the option to spare him afterward.
| Line | What it does |
|---|---|
| “Why does Bakir care about alcohol?” | Background on the operation. Keeps the conversation open. |
| “Why not simply run away?” | The worker explains why he stayed. Keeps the conversation open. |
| “Get out of here before I change my mind.” | Spares him and lets him flee the yard. |
| “You die like the rest.” | Kills him. |
| “[give in to the hunger]” | Feeds on him with your vampiric side. |
Note: sparing him has no effect on whether the quest completes. The sabotage objective is the only requirement.

Time in Vale Sangora is spent like currency rather than passing on its own, and you have 30 in-game days to reach Brencis and rescue your family. Three segments is a normal price for a Bakir job, and distillery work sits between the fast headhunter camps and the transports that force you to hunt a moving target.
How to confirm the quest completed
A QUEST ENDED card appears on screen with the quest name and your payout listed underneath, and the journal outcome reads that the distillery is shut down for business. If you have cleared the yard but nothing has triggered, the equipment is still standing. There is no partial credit for killing guards.
Two things stop it resolving cleanly. Leaving the area with the still intact keeps the quest open in your journal, and starting the march on Brencis closes it out with the alternate outcome noting you never had time to deal with it. Once you are committed to the endgame, the job is gone.
Every distillery you burn feeds Bakir’s anger level in the Court menu, and there are two more of them worth clearing. Ends and Means hides its still inside a barn behind a guarded yard, while Offshoot puts one in a cave out in the forest. Push the meter high enough and a jester named Farkas turns up outside Lunar Manor with an offer that leads straight to The Lunar Game.
