Fisch: How to Get the Breeze Caster Rod in Skycrest

Every Hayate Idol trial, Aero quest requirement, and stat you need before picking your reward.

The Breeze Caster is one of six fishing rods added to Fisch with the Skycrest update on September 5, 2026, and it is locked behind a wind-themed questline run by an NPC named Aero. The rod itself is built around the Gusty mutation, which multiplies a fish’s value by 7.5x, and it turns into a very different tool once Windy weather rolls in over the island.

Quick answer: Finish Aero’s first two quests in Skycrest — unlock the Swiftness Charm at the Hayate Idol, push that Charm to level 10, and travel 1,000 studs with the Cloud Glider — then pick the Breeze Caster instead of the Breeze Guster Harpoon Gun when Aero offers the choice.

What the Breeze Caster does

The Breeze Caster is a Skycrest journal rod worth 2,000 XP in the Rod Journal. Its main draw is a flat 25 percent chance to apply the Gusty mutation to whatever you catch, and Gusty carries a 7.5x value multiplier. That percentage jumps dramatically during Windy weather, which is where the rod earns its keep.

Max Kg200,000 kg

The 0.35 Control gives you a reeling bar that covers 65 percent of the minigame, which is generous. In exchange, the rod adds +80 percent bar movement speed and keeps the minigame constantly shaking, so it feels twitchier than the numbers suggest. Fish also drift slowly toward your bar on their own, which offsets some of that instability.

There is a slash passive too. The rod slashes every 14 to 22 seconds for +1.5 percent progress, with a 10 percent chance per slash to stun the fish for 0.4 seconds.

Windy weather changes the math

During Windy conditions, the Gusty chance climbs from 25 percent to 70 percent, and the slash interval collapses from 14–22 seconds down to 1.2–2.2 seconds. If you are farming value with this rod, waiting for wind is worth far more than any luck consumable.

Where to find Aero in Skycrest

Aero stands in Skycrest near the broken tower by the Abaia entrance. Walk up until the interaction prompt appears and talk to him to open the questline. He hands out three quests in total, but only the first two matter if the Breeze Caster is your target.

Quest 1: Swift Winds (unlock the Swiftness Charm)

Aero’s opening request sends you to the Hayate Idol. You need to clear its first two trials to unlock the Swiftness Charm before he will talk to you again.

Complete the Swift Swimmer trial by bringing the Hayate Idol either a Rose-Veiled Fairy Wrasse or a Vibranium Fairy Wrasse. Either fish satisfies the requirement, so take whichever you land first. Clearing this trial also rewards you with the Cloud Glider, which you will need later.
Complete the Swift Sailing trial by landing a perfect catch on a Sailfish while Windy weather is active. The weather condition is strict, so if wind is not blowing, the catch will not count no matter how clean the minigame is.

Return to Aero. With both trials done, the Swiftness Charm is unlocked and Swift Winds closes out.

Quest 2: Strong Gusts (Charm level 10 and 1,000 glider studs)

The second quest has two separate objectives that run in parallel. You need the Swiftness Charm at level 10, and you need 1,000 studs of Cloud Glider travel logged.

The three remaining Hayate Idol trials

Levelling the Charm to 10 means finishing the rest of the Hayate Idol’s trial list.

TrialObjective
Swift WindsBring the Hayate Idol one Gusty or Breezed African Butterflyfish
Swift GlidingHold maximum velocity on any Hang Glider for 10 seconds
True SwiftnessDirectly catch a Wyvern in under 20 seconds

Note: the African Butterflyfish trial needs the fish to already carry a Gusty or Breezed mutation, not just any specimen. That is the step most likely to stall you, since you do not yet own a rod that forces Gusty.

Travel 1,000 studs with the Cloud Glider

Use the Cloud Glider you earned from the Swift Swimmer trial and rack up 1,000 studs of distance. Skycrest is a floating island, so long uninterrupted descents from high ground are the fastest way to bank the number. This objective is separate from the Swift Gliding trial, even though both involve gliding.

Claiming the rod and confirming it worked

Head back to Aero once the Charm hits level 10 and the glider distance is filled. He offers a single reward choice between the Breeze Caster rod and the Breeze Guster Harpoon Gun. Pick the Breeze Caster and it lands in your inventory immediately, along with 2,000 Rod Journal XP for Skycrest.

To verify, open your inventory and check the rod’s stat card. A genuine Breeze Caster reads 40 percent Lure Speed, 155 percent Luck, 0.35 Control, 30 percent Resilience, 200,000 kg Max Kg, and 100 m Line Distance.

If Aero will not give you the choice

There are only a few reasons the reward prompt does not appear. The Swiftness Charm is below level 10 because one Hayate Idol trial is still open. The Cloud Glider distance has not reached 1,000 studs. Or the Sailfish you caught was landed outside Windy weather, which leaves Swift Sailing incomplete and blocks everything downstream.

Getting the Breeze Guster too

Choosing the Breeze Caster does not permanently lock out the harpoon. Aero unlocks a third quest, Harness the Winds, which asks you to catch and return 20 Legendary, Mythical, Exotic, Secret, or Relic Gusty fish in Skycrest, plus one Shiny or Sparkling Gusty fish. Finishing it awards the Breeze Guster Harpoon Gun.

That third quest is much easier once you already hold the Breeze Caster, since the rod supplies the Gusty mutation you need. The Shiny or Sparkling part comes from the Blessed Enchantment. Take the rod first, then grind the harpoon out with it.
