Fractured is the mutation that turns an already-huge egg into a leaderboard pet in Steal an Egg. It cannot be rolled at hatch like Rainbow or Golden. The only way to get it is to force it onto an egg you already own, using a consumable bought with Boss Tokens, and to keep paying until the roll lands.
Quick answer: Place the egg in your hatching pen, buy Mutation Consumables from the Boss Shop for 400 Boss Tokens each, then stand next to the placed egg outside a safe zone and use one. Every use has a 10% chance to apply Fractured, which multiplies the hatched pet’s income by 2.75.
What the Fractured mutation does to pet income
Color mutations, sometimes called auras, sit on top of a pet’s base income and stack with its size roll. Fractured is worth x2.75, which puts it above Golden and behind only Parasite and Rainbow. It is also one of the few that is not tied to a random hatch roll, so it is the one mutation you can plan around.
| Mutation | Multiplier | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Rainbow | x3.5 | Hatch roll, weight 1 in 100 |
| Parasite | x3 | Parasite Egg from the feeding event |
| Fractured | x2.75 | Mutation Consumable, 10% per use |
| Golden | x2.5 | Hatch roll, weight 4 in 100 |
| Spirit Bloom | x2.5 | Sakura Incubator |
| Bloom | x1.25 | Sakura event |
| Silver | x1.2 | Hatch roll, weight 6 in 100 |
Final income is base income multiplied by the mutation multiplier and then by the size multiplier. That is why a Fractured tag on a tiny egg is barely worth the tokens, and why the same tag on a multi-million-kilogram egg is worth tens of billions per second.

Three things have to line up. You need the egg itself, enough Boss Tokens to survive a bad run of rolls, and space in your hatching pen. A Unicorn comes out of eggs stolen in the Cosmic biome, which asks for 700 million Speed to enter and is patrolled by its guardian, so the mutation step is the last part of a long grind rather than the first.
Budget realistically. At a 10% success rate per use, 400 tokens per consumable means you should expect to burn roughly 4,000 tokens on average per egg, and streaks of five or six misses are normal. Buy consumables in batches so you are not walking back to the Boss Shop between every attempt.
Note: The Boss Mastery menu hands out a free mutated egg as a reward, which skips the consumable cost entirely for that one egg.
How to apply Fractured to a Cosmic Unicorn egg

If you have not started the grind yet, the experience is on the official Roblox game page.
How to confirm the mutation applied
A successful roll throws up a “Fractured mutation applied!” notification on screen, and the egg’s card picks up the Fractured tag. If you do not see that message, the consumable was consumed and the roll simply failed. Nothing about the egg changes on a miss, and there is no partial progress carried into the next attempt.
After hatching, the pet’s name carries the mutation in front of it, so a Unicorn becomes a Fractured Unicorn, and the money-per-second figure on the pet card reflects the 2.75x multiplier on top of the size roll.
Why the Mutation Consumable does not work
Items are blocked inside safe zones. Try to use a consumable there and the game answers with “Cannot use items in the safe zone!” instead of rolling. Move to your pen area and use it beside the egg.

The other common cause is the egg not being placed. Consumables target eggs sitting in the pen, so an egg still in your inventory will not accept the mutation. Beyond those two, a lack of the notification just means the 10% roll missed.
Egg weight decides the final income
Every pet has a hidden base weight tied to its base income. Below 125 times that base weight, income scales as base value multiplied by (actual weight ÷ base weight) raised to the power of 37/60, then by the mutation multiplier. Above that threshold the game switches to a flatter curve, using an exponent of 2/5 and a fixed 125^(13/60) term.
In practice, an egg at 100 times base weight returns roughly 17 times base value, 200 times weight returns about 23 times, and 1,000 times weight returns around 45 times. Bigger eggs keep paying more, but each extra kilogram buys less. That is the argument for spending your tokens on the heaviest egg in your inventory rather than spreading attempts across several average ones.
Server hopping is how you find those outliers. Freshly spawned eggs in high-tier zones vary wildly in weight, and hopping until a large one appears is far more efficient than mutating whatever happens to be in the nest.

Fractured income at end-game egg weights
These are the kinds of numbers Fractured produces once it is stacked onto oversized eggs from the top biomes. The Unicorn’s base rate is $1B/s, so an 18B/s result is almost entirely size scaling multiplied by the 2.75x aura.
| Egg | Weight | Hatched pet | Income |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titan Temple Egg | 3,102,420 kg | Eternal Fractured Gorilla King | 40B/s |
| Cosmic Egg (Divine) | 8,724 kg | Divine Fractured Unicorn | 18B/s |
| Cherry Blossom Egg (Secret) | 5,111 kg | Secret Fractured Stag | 6.2B/s |
| Prehistoric Egg | — | Fractured Mosasaurus | 3.3B/s |
| Abyss Ocean Egg | 2,423,791 kg | Fractured El Maja | 2.7B/s |
Filling a pen with pets in that range pushes total income past 410B/s, which is enough to fund the next tier of Speed upgrades in minutes rather than hours.
Where the Unicorn comes from
The Unicorn is a Divine-tier pet from the Cosmic biome, earning $1B/s at default size with no mutation. Cosmic’s listed entry threshold is 700 million Speed, but that is a floor rather than a safe margin, since the guardian chases you and a heavy egg drags your effective speed down on the way home. Comfortable farming sits well above the minimum.
Three identical pets can also be combined in the Fuse Machine into a single stronger pet, which is the cheaper way to clean up duplicate Oni Tigers and similar Eternal-tier spares while you save tokens for the eggs that actually deserve a Fractured roll.
The mutation itself is the easy part. Everything expensive about a Fractured Unicorn happens before you ever open the Boss Shop, in the Speed grind and the server hopping it takes to walk home with an egg heavy enough to justify the 2.75x.
