Blox Fruits: How to Get the Soul Cane Sword

The Magma Village secret quest, the Volcano Cave drill fight, and where the hidden sword seller stands.

The Magma Village secret quest, the Volcano Cave drill fight, and where the hidden sword seller stands.

The Soul Cane is one of the few First Sea swords that most players walk right past, mainly because the person who hands it over is tucked inside a wall. It is a Rare sword built around stunning enemies rather than raw damage, and it has been in the game since 2019. Getting it now runs through Magma Village‘s secret quest instead of a shop menu.

Quick answer: Go to Magma Village in the First Sea, enter the cave on the side of the volcano, ride the elevator down, destroy the Magma Drill, return to The Mayor, then walk through the hidden crevice on the volcano cliff and accept the Soul Cane from the skeleton NPC inside. It costs nothing.

Soul Cane requirements and location

Magma Village sits west of the Marine starter island in the First Sea, and it is the same island players usually grind through in the level 300 to 375 range while fighting Military Soldiers, Military Spies, and the Magma Admiral boss. Everything tied to the sword happens on that one island.

One catch matters more than your level. The secret quest only appears when the island secret is active on your server, so it does not run on demand. If The Mayor has nothing to say about the shaking mountain, hop servers until the quest is live.

How to complete the Magma Village secret quest

Land at Magma Village and find The Mayor, the NPC marked with a yellow quest indicator. Talk to him to pick up the secret quest about the tremors coming from inside the volcano.

Head up the side of the volcano and look for the cave entrance cut into the rock. This is the way into the Volcano Cave, and it is easy to fly straight past it.
Step onto the elevator inside the entrance and ride it down. If the elevator refuses to move or drops you through it, leave and rejoin a different server until it works properly.
Follow the mine tracks deeper into the cave while avoiding the Evil Prospector NPCs patrolling the route. Getting spotted turns a quiet walk into a fight you do not need.

The mine tracks inside the Volcano Cave point the way toward the drill.
Reach the Magma Drill at the end of the tunnel and destroy it. The drill has roughly 12,363 HP, so bring whatever move deals steady damage rather than trying to burst it down.

The Magma Drill is the quest objective, sitting in lava at the end of the tunnel.
Take the lift behind the drill back to the surface once the shaking stops. The game prompts you to get out before the cave collapses, and that lift only runs after the drill is down.

Return to The Mayor in the village and speak to him again to close out the quest. He acknowledges that the prospectors are gone, which is the signal that the reward is now available.

Where to find the hidden NPC that gives the Soul Cane

The seller is a skeleton NPC standing in a small room carved into the volcano, and there is no door model to click. Head to the western side of Magma Village, past the last houses, to the alcove at the base of the volcano cliff near a tree and a lava stream, below where the Military Spy stands.

Look for a rectangular patch of rock that is slightly darker than the wall around it, with out-of-place seams in the texture. That patch is a fake wall, so you just walk straight through it into the room. Switching to Fast Mode graphics makes the outline much easier to spot.

Inside, interact with the NPC, which shows up as the Hidden Sword Dealer prompt, and choose Accept. He hands over the Soul Cane at no charge because you brought the drill down.

How to confirm you got the Soul Cane

You get a dialogue prompt with Accept and Nevermind options, and after accepting, the Soul Cane appears in your inventory listed as a Rare sword. Equip it and the cane sits in a reverse grip, the same hold used by the Gravity Blade.

If the sword never shows up, one of these is usually why:

  • The island secret is not active on your server, so the quest cannot be started at all.
  • The drill is still standing, or you left the cave without destroying it.
  • You destroyed the drill but never went back to The Mayor to turn the quest in.
  • The elevator glitched on the way down, which a server hop fixes.

Note: before Update 30, this sword was a straight purchase from the same skeleton NPC for $750,000, with no quest attached. If you follow older instructions and only find a price tag, you are on outdated information.

Soul Cane moves, mastery, and the damage upgrade

The sword has two moves, both unlocked through mastery earned in combat. Landing final blows with the sword while doing your damage with a fruit or fighting style is the quickest way to raise that mastery if your sword stat is low.

MoveMasteryEffect
[Z] Soul Beam40Fires a beam that detonates and stuns for about 1.5 seconds; can break Instinct on a headshot
[X] Soul Slashes120A fast burst of slashes that stuns for about 2 seconds; locks you in place while it plays

Both moves have area damage and no knockback, which makes them useful for farming groups of enemies and for chaining combos. The trade-offs are real, though. Damage is low compared with swords like Saber, the hitboxes are small, the range is short, and Blade users are immune to it entirely.

Once you own it, take 20 Leather and 5 Radioactive Material to a blacksmith to push the sword to Grade 1 for 20% more damage. That is the only upgrade tier it has, and it does not change either move’s mastery requirement.

The Soul Cane is not a carry weapon, and it was never meant to be. It earns its place in skill builds because two reliable stuns arrive early and cheaply, which is exactly what a combo needs from a sword slot in the First Sea.
