Project Slayers 2: How to Unlock Serpent Breathing and Pass Final Selection

Level and material requirements for Serpent Breathing, plus every Final Selection quest and the Hand Demon boss fight.

Level and material requirements for Serpent Breathing, plus every Final Selection quest and the Hand Demon boss fight.

The slayer route in Project Slayers 2 has two hard gates. The first is a breathing style, which you cannot buy outright and must earn from a trainer with materials and a set of training tasks. The second is Final Selection, the timed group instance that ends with a boss fight and awards the Demon Slayer rank. Everything between those two gates is leveling.

Quick answer: Reach level 25, give Serpent Trainer Obari 20 Demon Horns and 5 Beast Cores, clear his six training tasks, then enter Final Selection at level 45 and defeat the Hand Demon.

Every requirement on the slayer path

Each gate checks a level and, in the case of the breathing trainer, a material count. Nothing here can be skipped by paying Wen.

Final Selection is a shared instance, so you can queue with a friend and split the quest chain. That matters most at the end, when the Hand Demon’s ground slams and sweeping attacks are much easier to survive with a second player pulling aggro.

Character setup and the first 15 levels

Before you spawn in, the lobby menu handles appearance and your clan roll. Clans come in Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Mythic, and Supreme rarities, and the roll is separate from the cosmetic sliders for face, hair, and skin tone.

Once you load into the world at level 1, take the bandit quest from Krue, who asks for three kills. Fists are enough here. Bandits stay the cleanest early experience source, and they drop accessories, which is how most new characters get their first real stat boost. Tom later offers a bear hunt, with Bear Cubs as the safe targets and Mother Bears hitting considerably harder.

At 1,500 Wen you can buy the Fancy Katana from the weapon shop, a straight upgrade over the Regular Katana and worth prioritizing over anything cosmetic.

Accessory stats worth equipping

Gleam Headband+85 Max Health, +40 Max Stamina, 1.06x Movement Speed Factor

Accessories only apply once they are equipped from the inventory screen, not simply owned. Check the equipped slots after every drop.

Two skill tree unlocks you need first

Spend early skill points on Wall Climb and Double Jump before dumping the rest into additional damage. Wall Climb is not optional flavor movement, it is the only way to scale the cliff where the Serpent trainer stands. Anything left over is fine in damage nodes.

Find Serpent Trainer Obari and farm his materials

Obari sits on a cliff overlooking the spawn area. Return to spawn, find the rock face, and use Wall Climb to reach the ledge. He will not speak to a character under level 25, and his opening demand is 20 Demon Horns.

Demon Horns come from High Demons in the snowy Iceveil Valley. Expect a long farm, since the drop is not guaranteed per kill and 20 horns takes roughly half an hour of steady clearing. Once you hand them over, Obari asks for a second material: 5 Beast Cores, dropped by Beast Born Demons in Beast Born Village to the north. That second trip is short by comparison, and it usually pushes you close to level 29.

Obari only reveals the Beast Core request after the horns are delivered, so do not stockpile other materials expecting to shortcut the second step.

The six Serpent Breathing Training tasks

Handing in both materials starts the quest tracker as Serpent Breathing Training 0/6. Each task is a separate location on the map with its own minigame, and the tracker only advances when a task is cleared outright.

Meditation and pushups both sit at the Butterfly Estate, so clear them back to back. The Serpent Trainee is the only combat check in the set, and beating him is what actually grants the style.

Unlocking Serpent Slash and Coil Choke

Owning Serpent Breathing does not give you any moves. Open the skill tree and buy them individually with skill points, and note that later forms are locked behind mastery levels as well as points.

  • Serpent Slash — the first form, available as soon as the style is unlocked.
  • Coil Choke — the second form, worth picking up during the grind toward level 45.

Test each new move on bandits or a Mother Bear before Final Selection. Knowing the recovery time on Coil Choke is the difference between a clean opener and eating a boss sweep.

Final Selection quest order, from Rem to the Hand Demon

Gather at the Final Selection gate and wait for the countdown to hit zero. When the gate opens, everyone standing there is pulled into the same instance, and the quest chain runs in a fixed order. Each NPC only appears after the previous one is satisfied.

Locate Rem, the first marked objective. She sends you to collect three items scattered across the map: an Apple, a Banana, and Grapes. Bring all three back to her.

Find Vael next. He asks for 5 Lesser Demons, the weakest enemies in the instance. Clearing them points you toward Klien.
Klien has lost his Nichirin Katana. It sits near a cliff edge on the map. Return it to him and he asks you to track down Rika for bandages.
Collect the bandages from Rika, go back to Klien, and complete the quick-time event to treat his wounds. A failed input just restarts the prompt.
Speak to Lavato to start Mountain Survival. You must capture 4 checkpoints spread across the mountain within a time limit, so plan a route before the timer starts rather than chasing markers one at a time.
Levi opens the Parkour Dungeon. Work through moving platforms and spikes, pulling levers to open the gates as you go. Coming out the other side, you still need to capture a zone and rescue a civilian before reporting back to him.
Steve gives the final quest, the 1,300 HP Hand Demon. It telegraphs ground slams and wide sweeping attacks, both of which are dodgeable if you reset your distance between combos instead of standing in melee range.

How to confirm you passed Final Selection

The Hand Demon’s death ends the instance and the payout is immediate. Your title changes to Slayer, a Slayer Uniform lands in your inventory, and a Kasugai Crow is assigned to your character. If all three appear, the trial is logged as complete and you are done with the Demon Slayer rank requirement.

From there, the Slayer Uniform is equippable from the inventory and the crow becomes your quest handler for whatever comes next.
