Insomniac’s Wolverine runs its campaign through four named boss fights, each one tied to a specific location and mission title, and each one built around the same stagger-and-parry loop. The story closes in Shinjuku with Nathaniel Essex, followed by a memory scene, a post-credits tease, and a short epilogue at the docks.
Quick answer: The campaign’s four major bosses, in order, are Omega Red, the Sentinel Prototype, Lady Deathstrike, and Essex. Jean Grey ends the fight by unleashing the Phoenix Force.
Everything below covers the full campaign, including the final fight, the credits scene, and the epilogue.
Marvel’s Wolverine boss order and locations
| Boss | Location | Mission | Phases |
|---|---|---|---|
| Omega Red | Trask Compound | Last Meal | 3 |
| Sentinel Prototype | Hightown | For Our Future | 3 |
| Deathstrike | Mount Haku | Death’s Match | 2 |
| Essex | Shinjuku | No Coming Back | 3 |
Sabretooth sits outside that list. He shows up early in Madripoor at the Princess Bar, where a friendly arm-wrestle turns into a brawl on the balcony and ends with Logan going through a window. He also gets a health bar of his own later in the story, but the campaign’s ending does not turn on beating him.

Beyond the named bosses, Logan works through the Reavers, The Hand’s red-clad ninjas, standard Sentinels, and Ogun, who fights with dual katanas and dark energy scythe chains while wearing an oni mask.

Add to Google Preferences →The rules every boss fight runs on
The Omega Red fight doubles as the tutorial for boss mechanics, and those rules do not change later. Learn them there and the remaining three fights become pattern recognition.
- Every boss has a Stagger Meter sitting directly under its health bar.
- Tap Circle to parry. Successful parries fill the Stagger Meter.
- A full meter immobilises the boss and opens it up for a Barrage.
- Triangle on a staggered enemy performs a Healing Strike and restores Logan’s health.
- Hold L1 and press Square, Triangle, or Circle for Special Techniques.
- Red circular markers flag unblockable attacks, blue circles flag parryable ones.
Omega Red regains health whenever he grabs you, so dodging his carbonadium coils matters more than trading hits.
Omega Red at the Trask Compound
The fight opens after a helicopter escape goes wrong. Omega Red hooks Nathaniel Essex out of the aircraft with his coils, and Logan jumps after them into the Trask Compound. The first phase plays out inside a warehouse while the game teaches stagger, parries, and Special Techniques.
Phase one ends in a scripted loss. Logan gets thrown through a wall, then held in the air while Omega Red explains his name, drains Logan’s life force, and only stops because Reavers order him to stand down. Phase two restarts outdoors in the rain, among crashed plane wreckage. Phase three moves into burning wreckage and is where the fight actually ends.

The Omega Red trophy pops on the win. Afterwards, Essex asks Logan to pull a blood sample from the body for what he calls “the vault,” and Mystique and Sabretooth arrive in a VTOL to extract everyone as Reavers close in.
Sentinel Prototype in Hightown
Logan corners Bolivar Trask in his lab, and Trask responds by activating a giant Sentinel Prototype. The first phase keeps you in the lab, targeting the machine’s hands while dodging laser beams. The second moves to a wrecked outdoor courtyard and focuses on chewing through armor and the core. The third has Logan climbing onto the head and tearing it apart with his claws.

The Sentinel narrates its own status the whole way through, calling out armor breaches, destroyed panels, missile calibration, and system reboots. Those lines are useful timing cues. When it announces a reboot, you have an opening.
Trask tries to run afterwards. Essex stops him with telekinesis and starts choking him, and Logan steps in to keep Essex from killing him. It is the first clear signal of where Essex is heading.
Deathstrike at Mount Haku
Yuriko Oyama waits in a temple built over a pit of bubbling lava. She fights with long adamantium claws that match Logan’s own reach, which makes this the most parry-dependent fight of the four. Phase two pushes the whole duel onto stone platforms directly above the lava.

She lands a stab on Logan before he overpowers her and throws her into the lava, where she turns to stone and crumbles. The trophy is Struck Dead. Logan then tries to force open a heavy stone sarcophagus in the temple, which is when Sabretooth and Essex walk in. Sabretooth pins Logan, Essex drops the mentor act, and Jean Grey arrives to block them both with telekinesis long enough for Logan to get out.
Essex, the final boss in Shinjuku
The finale starts at night in Shinjuku with Logan and Jean Grey under attack from a giant purple Sentinel. Shiro, better known as Sunfire, arrives to help. The fight itself splits across a rooftop and the Sentinel’s body.
Phase one is a rooftop duel where Essex uses telekinetic clones and purple energy blasts. Phase two moves you onto the giant Sentinel to hit its core while Essex keeps firing. Phase three returns to the rooftop for the close.

Once Logan drops Essex, Jean Grey unleashes the Phoenix Force and vaporizes both the Sentinel and Essex outright. The trophy for the win is A Sinister End.
How the ending resolves
Logan wakes inside a quiet farm memory with Jean Grey, where they talk through his past. She gives him back what Essex had taken, including his real name: James Logan Howlett. The credits then roll over stylized comic-book artwork.
The post-credits scene cuts to Sabretooth walking into a dark cave and meeting Apocalypse, who tells him, “Death’s turn is over… Now is the time… For War.” The epilogue follows Jean Grey and Callisto talking at the docks. Jean commits to helping the new mutants, and Logan rides off on a motorcycle to chase down the rest of his past.
What unlocks after the credits
A completion screen confirms the run is finished and lists what is left. It signs off with “GOOD LUCK, BUB!” and awards the One More Story trophy when you continue past it.
- Nightmare Trials, plus Mission Replay for pushing to max level.
- Remaining Nightmare Doors, Material Crates, and Whisky Bottles to hunt down.
- The Best There Is difficulty for a harder run.
- New Game+, which raises the level cap, opens more Strands, and unlocks four Adaptations.
If you are tracking completion by trophies rather than by mission names, the four to watch are Omega Red, Struck Dead, A Sinister End, and One More Story. Getting all four means you have cleared every campaign boss and seen the epilogue through to the end.
