Epic Games has confirmed the Fortnite x Kingdom Hearts crossover with a reveal trailer, locking in four playable characters and the Keyblade as a Mythic weapon. Sora, Kairi, Riku, and Roxas all appear, each carrying their own Keyblade design, and the crossover ties into Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4’s run of gaming collaborations.
Quick answer: The Kingdom Hearts collab goes live on September 17, 2026 with update 42.20 once server downtime ends. The four skins are expected in the Item Shop after the reset at 5:00 PM PT that day.
Release time: September 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM PT

What the trailer confirmed
The reveal trailer showcases the official key art and features all four characters using their Kingdom Hearts 2 designs, with Roxas shown in his Organization XIII outfit. It opens on the Destiny Islands beach and closes by recreating the classic Kingdom Hearts box art, this time with Sora, Kairi, and Riku perched on a player-built fort. Hikaru Utada’s Kingdom Hearts 2 theme “Sanctuary” plays over the footage.
The clip also shows Sora casting Thunder magic and using his signature air dash, and Heartless appear on screen. The Moon is reshaped into a giant heart as part of the event.
The four Kingdom Hearts skins and their Keyblade pickaxes
Every character comes with a matching Keyblade that works as a Pickaxe. Only Sora’s Keyblade becomes a functional Mythic weapon, while the rest stay cosmetic harvesting tools sold in the Item Shop.
| Character | Keyblade Pickaxe |
|---|---|
| Sora | Keyblade (also a Mythic weapon) |
| Kairi | Destiny’s Embrace |
| Riku | Way to Dawn |
| Roxas | Oblivion and Oathkeeper |
Epic has not confirmed individual pricing or whether the outfits will be offered together in a larger bundle. A new pair of Kicks called Shadow Heartless is also being added.

Keyblade Mythic weapon and how to get it
Sora’s Keyblade joins the Fortnite loot pool as a Mythic weapon on September 17, 2026 with the 42.20 update. Its keychain swaps the traditional Mickey Mouse emblem for Fortnite’s Supply Llama design.
The weapon unleashes a lightning strike in a small area-of-effect radius, tied to a spell called Thundaga. That ability may be stackable or recharge slowly over time, and more spells could arrive as the season continues. The Keyblade also has a spin attack and appears to give a slight movement speed boost while equipped.
You should be able to find it inside Rare/Relic Chests located in the Temple Vaults on the island.
Release timing across US time zones
The collab activates once downtime for update 42.20 ends on the morning of September 17, at roughly 7:00 a.m. Eastern. The four skins are expected to appear when the Item Shop rotates, either the same day or on September 18, 2026. Based on the standard reset schedule, that shop drop lands at 5:00 PM PT.
| Time Zone | Item Shop Reset |
|---|---|
| Pacific | September 17 at 5:00 PM PT |
| Mountain | September 17 at 6:00 PM MT |
| Central | September 17 at 7:00 PM CT |
| Eastern | September 17 at 8:00 PM ET |
You will know the collab is live when servers come back up after downtime and the Keyblade Mythic starts appearing in Temple Vault chests. The outfits are confirmed once they show up in the Item Shop after the rotation. The Ironmouse skin is also set to release on the same day.

The heart-shaped Moon is expected to stay in place until the end of the season, or at least until the rumored Five Nights at Freddy’s tie-in for Fortnitemares 2026 begins.
