How to Get Pawney and Rookey in Aniimo (Helmut Evolution Requirements)

Both Helmut branches need Aniimo level 45 and a Night Stone, but each creature can only take one of them.

Helmut is one of the few Aniimo that splits in two directions, and the split is permanent. The same stubby, helmet-wearing Lumin creature can become either a Dark DPS with a broken sword or a much bulkier Dark BREAK unit, depending entirely on what you do before you press evolve.

Quick answer: Level a Helmut to 45, then spend Night Stone ×1 on one branch. Pull out the Sword of Bravery for Pawney, or counter-kill an opponent in Ballistic Guard with Unwavering Rampart learned for Rookey.

Where to find Helmut in Russet Highlands

Helmut is a stage 1 Dark Aniimo in the BREAK role, and it lives in Russet Highlands in the Breezy Plains region, where wild spawns sit at levels 45 to 50. It is small — 0.8m tall and 9kg — with base stats of HP 60, ATK 52, BREAK 60, P.DEF 68, M.DEF 48 and REGEN 51. Its trait is Guardbreak Resonance, and its mobility skill is Detection, which gives you vision of nearby metal objects and cloaked Aniimo.

Its combat kit in the base form is short: ATK, Guardbreak Slam and Ballistic Guard. That last skill matters more than its damage number suggests, because it is the one you need to understand if you want the Rookey branch.

Helmut evolution requirements for Pawney and Rookey

These two are parallel choices, not successive stages. A single Helmut evolves into Pawney or Rookey and then stops — neither one has a further evolution. If you want both in your Aniilog, you need two Helmuts.

BranchStage and roleRequired levelCost
PawneyStage 3, Dark DPSAniimo level 45Night Stone ×1
RookeyStage 3, Dark BREAKAniimo level 45Night Stone ×1

The level gate and the material cost are identical. The only thing separating the two paths is the unlock condition attached to each, and both conditions can be completed before you ever hit level 45.

How to get Pawney: Pull out the Sword of Bravery

Pawney’s unlock is written as “find the sword in the stone that belongs to the warrior,” and it is a world action rather than a combat one. Nothing about your Helmut’s build changes this path.

Raise the Helmut you intend to evolve to Aniimo level 45. The requirement is tied to that specific creature, so levelling a different Helmut does not carry over.
Find the sword in the stone that belongs to the warrior, then pull out the Sword of Bravery. Completing this action is what flips the Pawney branch from locked to available.
Open the evolution screen for your Helmut, select the Pawney branch, and pay Night Stone ×1 to confirm.

Pawney comes out at 1.2m and 18kg with HP 90, ATK 125, BREAK 55, P.DEF 84, M.DEF 70 and REGEN 81. Its trait is Pursuit, which adds 30 percent damage against targets in a control effect or in BREAK, and its mobility skill switches to Hookshot. Its skills are ATK, Weakening Slam, Elastic Sword, Shadow Cut and the ultimate, Ironclad Armament, which raises EP recovery by 10 percent and adds 30 percent damage to BREAK targets for 15 seconds — during which the ultimate can be fired again as Dragon Slayer Strike.

How to get Rookey: Counter damage in Ballistic Guard

Rookey’s unlock is described as “defend as offense to defeat the Opponent,” and it has two parts — a passive talent you must learn, and a specific kill you must land. Both need to be done on top of the level gate.

Get the Helmut to Aniimo level 45, the same threshold the Pawney branch uses.
Learn the passive talent Unwavering Rampart. The evolution condition explicitly calls for the corresponding passive talent, so the branch stays greyed out until it is unlocked.
Defeat an opponent by dealing damage with Counter while in Ballistic Guard. Ballistic Guard costs 20 EP, raises your damage reduction, heavily boosts interruption resistance, and fires a shock wave around you whenever you are hit — that shock wave damage is what needs to land the finishing blow.

The shock wave only triggers when something actually attacks you, so pick a target that keeps swinging rather than one you can out-damage normally, and enter the guard while its health is already low.

Return to the evolution screen and pay Night Stone ×1 to lock in the Rookey branch.
Rookey

Rookey is the bigger of the two at 1.5m and 18kg, with HP 100, ATK 90, BREAK 105, P.DEF 100, M.DEF 70 and REGEN 75. It keeps Detection as its mobility skill and Guardbreak Resonance as its trait. Its kit is ATK, Guardbreak Slam, an upgraded Ballistic Guard that now leaps into the air and damages targets at the landing point, Bouncy Sling, which raises the target’s BREAK damage taken by 15 percent for 15 seconds and ricochets between nearby targets, and Heavy Slam, which enlarges its hands and smashes the ground for area damage. Rookey also spawns wild in Russet Highlands.

How to confirm the evolution worked

After the Night Stone is spent, the creature moves from stage 1 to stage 3 and takes a new Aniilog entry. The clearest confirmations are the skill list and the mobility slot. A successful Pawney swaps Detection for Hookshot and gains Elastic Sword, Shadow Cut and Ironclad Armament. A successful Rookey keeps Detection but adds Bouncy Sling and Heavy Slam, and its Ballistic Guard now includes the aerial slam on activation.

The stat jump is the other giveaway. Compare the three side by side if you are not sure which direction your creature took.

HP6090100
ATK5212590
BREAK6055105
P.DEF6884100
M.DEF487070
REGEN518175

The split is clean. Pawney nearly triples Helmut’s attack and drops its BREAK, which is why it sits in the DPS role. Rookey keeps the BREAK identity and pushes it to 105 while adding durability, so it stays the party’s armour-cracker rather than its damage dealer.

Helmut regional and special forms

Helmut has two extra forms alongside the basic one, and they carry their appearance through the evolution. A Snowfield Helmut is Dark and Ice rather than pure Dark, and it evolves into Snowfield Pawney or Snowfield Rookey under exactly the same level 45 and Night Stone ×1 requirements. The Mountain Woods form is pure Dark with a polished golden helmet, and it feeds into the Mountain Woods versions of both branches. All of them share the same base stats as the basic form, and all of them live in Russet Highlands.

One detail is worth knowing before you commit a form to a branch. The Ice-element smash skills are form-locked — Guardbreak Smash and Weakening Smash belong to the Snowfield line only, across Helmut, Pawney and Rookey. The basic and Mountain Woods forms do not learn them at any point.

Pawney has one form the other branch does not. The Prismana version, with dark iron armour that carries a dragon-scale sheen, is found in Russet Highlands rather than produced by evolving a Helmut, so it is a catch rather than a branch you can plan for.

Because the two branches cost the same and gate at the same level, the practical approach is to catch a second Helmut in Russet Highlands early and run both paths in parallel. Do the Sword of Bravery on one and the Ballistic Guard counter kill on the other, and you will have both stage 3 results without ever having to pick a favourite.
