Where Winds Meet: How to Complete Cat Play in Wellspring Town

Cat Play in Wellspring Town asks you to find and pet four specific cats scattered around the settlement in Where Winds Meet. All four sit within a short run of the Primary Hall waypoint, so the whole objective takes only a couple of minutes once you know where each one hides.

Quick answer: Fast travel to Primary Hall, pet Kitty: Sonnet and Kitty: Ratbane in the courtyard, pet Kitty: Detectail inside the academy building, then pet Kitty: Purfessor in the northwest alley to reach 4/4.

The four cats and where they sit

Each cat has its own name and resting spot. Two are clustered right at the spawn point, one is indoors, and the last requires a short rooftop crossing to the northwest of town.

How to pet all four cats in Wellspring Town

Use the world map to fast travel to the Primary Hall waypoint on the southeast side of Wellspring Town. The first pair of cats are only a few steps from your arrival point.

From your landing spot, head northwest briefly to the dirt path running alongside the stone bridge. The white cat Kitty: Sonnet is waiting there. Move close, press the interact key, then choose Pet.

Turn back toward the curved wooden bench in the same courtyard. The grey striped cat Kitty: Ratbane sits just behind it. Interact and pet it to log your second cat.

Open the map, drop a marker on the building across the bridge in town, and head west toward it. This is the academy with the “Insects Awakening” room sign.

Step inside and walk past the study desks to the back bookshelf. The calico cat Kitty: Detectail lies on the floor there. Pet it for your third cat.

Leave the building and mark the northwest street on the map. Cross the town rooftops to reach the market alley there.

In the alley by a stall, near the NPC Li Wa, find the black cat Kitty: Purfessor sitting on the cobblestones. Pet it to complete the objective at 4/4.

Cat Play rewards

Each pet grants the same set of rewards, and a friendly “Keep going! The kitten now likes you even more!” prompt appears as your bond rises. Petting every cat feeds into Qingzhou exploration progress and your Elegance stat.

Clearing Cat Play also contributes toward full Wellspring Town exploration, which pays out Echo Jade x80 once every category in the Sentient Beings menu is complete.

How to confirm it is done

Open the Sentient Beings exploration menu for Wellspring Town and check the Cat Play line. It should read Completion 4/4 once the black cat has been petted. The reward prompts for Jade Fish, Trace Jade, and Elegance appearing after each interaction confirm that each cat has registered correctly.
