Harvest the glowing underwater plant at night in the Veilwater Basin, then grind it at the Mill into dust for Flame upgrades and gear.

Gleam Root is a luminous aquatic plant associated with the Veilwater Basin; it appears only at night. Collect the plant directly from the water, then process it in a Mill to make Gleam Root Dust. The dust is used for the Flame upgrade from level 9 to 10 and for several gear pieces. Both materials are Common, level 40, and can be stacked up to 250.

Quick answer: Dive into the Veilwater Basin water at night, collect the glowing blue Gleam Root plants, then place them in a Mill to grind each one into 1 Gleam Root Dust over 180 seconds.

Where Gleam Root grows

Search underwater in the Veilwater Basin for Gleam Root after dark; the plants glow blue. The game describes it this way:

“An underwater plant that only grows where the moonlight coats the sea floor. It has an enticing glow that spells demise for any diver willing to forget themselves in their pursuit of the light in the deep. It can be found beneath the water in the Veilwater Basin.”

Keep harvesting until you have enough for your plans. The Flame upgrade alone needs 15 Gleam Root Dust.

How to make Gleam Root Dust at the Mill

Gleam Root Dust is made at the Mill: 1 Gleam Root makes 1 Gleam Root Dust.

In the Mill, select Gleam Root Dust from the available outputs.

Load Gleam Root in as the input. Each Gleam Root becomes 1 Gleam Root Dust, and every unit takes 180 seconds to grind.
Pull the finished dust out of the Mill once it is done. Its description confirms the source: “This powder was derived from the Gleam Root plant, which only grows at night in the Veilwater Basin.”

What Gleam Root and Gleam Root Dust are used for

Raw Gleam Root has two uses on its own. It becomes Gleam Root Dust at the Mill (1 per craft), and it goes into Ultimate Mana Potion + at the Alchemist, where one Gleam Root combines with one Ultimate Mana Potion.

Gleam Root Dust is the ingredient that most recipes want. Raising the Flame from level 9 to 10 requires 15 Gleam Root Dust alongside other materials. The rest of its uses are gear and cosmetics spread across several stations.
