Fisch Dullahan Quest: How to Get the Dobhar Fish

The Dobhar only bites in FischFright 3's Frightful Pools, so finding the right pool and stacking luck decide everything.

The Dobhar only bites in FischFright 3’s Frightful Pools, so finding the right pool and stacking luck decide everything.

The Dobhar is the fishing objective in Fisch’s FischFright 2026: Dullahan quest. It is also the step most likely to hold you up. You can’t catch it at the event island or at a regular fishing spot. It only appears inside Frightful Pools, which spawn at random in the open ocean during FischFright 3, Fisch’s 2026 Halloween event.

Quick answer: Wait in the normal ocean for a Frightful Pool spawn notice, sail to it, and fish with your highest-luck rod and Universal Luck bait until a Dobhar lands. Vile Frightful Pools give the best odds.

Dobhar stats and catch conditions

The Dobhar is a Limited fish in the Secret chance group, and it is only available while FischFright 3 is running. Luck works in your favor here, because this fish’s catch chance goes up as your luck goes up. That explains why every serious attempt starts with gear.

Progress Speed-80%

Preferred baitBlack Licorice

The -80% Progress Speed means the reeling minigame moves slowly once the fish is hooked. Expect a longer fight than usual, and avoid rods with weak control.

Where Frightful Pools spawn

Frightful Pools appear in the regular ocean around the standard islands, including the waters near Moosewood and Sunken Beach. They do not spawn inside the Halloween event area, so time spent fishing there doesn’t help with the Dobhar. The game sends a server-wide notification each time a pool appears, and the announcement also shows in Global chat. Keep chat unmuted so you see it as soon as it pops up.

Four pool variants can produce a Dobhar:

  • Vile Frightful Pool
  • Eldritch Frightful Pool
  • Grim Frightful Pool
  • Doomed Frightful Pool

Each of these can drop the fish, but the odds are not equal. Players hunting the Dobhar consistently report the best results in the Vile Frightful Pool, while the in-game Bestiary hint says Eldritch pools have increased rates. The practical approach is to go to a Vile or Eldritch pool whenever one spawns, and fish any other Frightful Pool in between so you are never sitting idle.

Best rod and bait setup for the Dobhar

Since the Dobhar’s chance scales with luck, choose your rod by its luck stat. Open the Fishing Rods inventory, sort by luck, and equip the highest one you own. For bait, choose whatever gives the most Universal Luck. Rod of the Depths paired with Universal Luck bait is a proven setup. Black Licorice is the Dobhar’s preferred bait if you have it.

Fishing without luck bait is technically possible, but the drop rate is low enough that it can take days. Equip your best bait before you reach the pool.

How to catch the Dobhar in a Frightful Pool

Open the Boats menu and spawn a boat. Any boat works, since all you need is a way to reach a pool quickly.
Sail into the open ocean near the regular islands and stay out of the Halloween event zone. Wait there for a Frightful Pool spawn notification.
Head toward the pool as soon as it is announced, using the compass waypoint to steer. Pools glow on the water, so they are easy to see from a distance.

Stop your boat right next to the pool, or inside it. Confirm your highest-luck rod and Universal Luck bait are still equipped.
Cast into the pool and keep reeling in whatever bites. Before the Dobhar shows up, you will land plenty of other catches, such as Skeletal Sturgeon, Barracuda, and Frightful Caskets.

If the pool disappears before you get a Dobhar, return to open water and wait for the next spawn. Repeat until the fish lands.

Confirming the catch and turning it in to Dullahan

You will know right away when you’ve caught one. A message appears that reads “You just caught a … Dobhar at …kg!”, and your character shouts one of three quips: “The water hound awakens!”, “A legendary beast from the depths.”, or “Terrifying splash!” Next, open the Quest Book and go to the FischFright 2026: Dullahan entry under Major Quests. The objective “Catch and return 1 Dobhar” should now read 1/1.

The quest has two more objectives, and you can finish all three in any order:

  • Catch and return 1 Dobhar
  • Complete all six side quests from the Haunted Mansion’s inhabitants
  • Obtain 1 Dullahan’s Heirloom inside the Haunted Mansion

Once all three counters are complete, talk to Dullahan at the Haunted Mansion to hand in everything. The rewards are listed below.

RewardAmount
Fable Rose1
Treats3,000
XP18,000 (bonus XP can stack on turn-in)

For the later Haunted Cemetery Ritual, you’ll need Dobhar to fill a Skeletal Hand slot. Catch a second one during your current visit to a Frightful Pool to avoid another trip.

The Fable Rose is what makes this effort worthwhile. You bring it to the skeletal hand altar and choose Awaken, which opens up FischFright 3’s higher-tier rituals. FischFright 3 has no confirmed end date, so try to get the Dobhar while Frightful Pools are still spawning.
