In Fisch, the Dutchman’s Rod is a Halloween rod available only for a limited period. It arrived with the FischFright 3 update on October 17, 2026, and no shop sells it. Its shape resembles an open alligator jaw lined with fangs and wreathed in a ghostly sea-green glow. It provides 180% Luck and has no weight cap. To unlock it, complete a lengthy ritual chain on Caustic Hallow, the event island, making it one of this year’s toughest event rods to obtain.
Quick answer: Finish the Boglin Ritual, advance to Hex Stage 3, then awaken each of the three Skeletal Hands. For the Dutchman’s Blessing Ritual, turn in five designated mutated fish, one Coffin Fish, and a Dutchman’s Grasp.
Dutchman’s Rod requirements
The unlock works in two layers. Three prerequisites open the Dutchman’s Blessing Ritual, and the ritual stays locked until all three are met. After that, a fixed offering completes it. You need everything below before the rod lands in your inventory.
- Prerequisite: Completed the Boglin Ritual
- Prerequisite: Hex at Stage 3 (75 Hex Energy)
- Prerequisite: Awakened Skeletal Hands (3/3), using the Grim, Vile, and Doom Skulls
- Offering: five specific fish, each carrying one exact mutation
- Offering: one Coffin Fish
- Offering: one Dutchman’s Grasp, bought for 25,000 Treats
The rod can only be earned while the FischFright 3 event is running, and the unlock route disappears when it ends. No end date has been confirmed, so lock down the hardest-to-replace items first.

Add to Google Preferences →How to reach the Caustic Hallow ritual grounds
Every part of the unlock happens on Caustic Hallow. You can’t swim there. The island is reached by ship from Moosewood.

Four choices appear in the menu. Select “Show me the rituals” to view a catalog of requirements for every ritual; viewing it costs nothing. Choosing “I want to begin a ritual” charges 100 Treats per selection. The remaining choices either describe how rituals work or end the conversation.
Reach Hex Stage 3 at Beatrix’s Cauldron
Hex is the event’s progression meter. You raise it by feeding Witch’s Ingredients into Beatrix’s Cauldron, which sits by her tree on Caustic Hallow. Use “Offer Ingredient” or “Offer All Ingredients,” and the cauldron shows the Hex Energy gained along with your running total. Hex Stage 3 takes 75 Hex Energy, and that’s all the Dutchman’s Rod asks for.

Goblin quests and challenges are the main source of ingredients, and they also add Hex progress directly. Each ingredient is worth a different amount of energy.
| Witch’s Ingredient | Hex Energy |
|---|---|
| Dirty Candy Corn | +1 |
| Strange Root | +2 |
| Crushed Bone | +2 |
| Spider Eye | +3 |
| Giant Mushroom | +3 |
| Raven Feather | +4 |
| Bat Wing | +4 |
| Dark Art Skull | +5 |
Clear the earlier rituals, ending with the Boglin Ritual
Rituals unlock in order, from the top of the list down. The Scary Relic, Haunted, Jack-o’-Moon, and Boglin Rituals sit above Dutchman’s Blessing alongside an opening ritual at the very top, and each costs 100 Treats to start. Dutchman’s Blessing only cares that the Boglin Ritual is done, but you can’t reach it without working down the list.
The Boglin Ritual has you track down three Goblins that spawn at random spots around the map. A server banner calls out their location when they appear, for example “Goblins have spawned at Mushgrove!” Keep an eye on the top of the screen.
Awaken the three Skeletal Hands
The Skeletal Hands stand around the edge of the ritual circle, including one named Kaolith’s Grasp. Walk up to each hand to read its prompt, gather what it lists, then interact with it to awaken it.
To obtain the Dutchman’s Rod, the three skull offerings are Grim Skull, Vile Skull, and Doom Skull. Some in-game text calls the last one “Doomed Skull,” but it refers to the same item. Hand prompts may also request other event items, such as Dark Art Skull, plus Ethereal Rose; also Fable Rose, Gourdermort’s Rose, and Davy Rose. The Dutchman Merchant sells the Davy Rose for 5,000 Treats, with one available per player.
Your progress shows on the prerequisite line in the ritual catalog. “Awakened Skeletal Hands (3/3)” means you’re done, while 2/3 means one hand is still asleep.
Dutchman’s Blessing Ritual offering
Each fish needs one exact mutation. The right species with the wrong mutation won’t count, and selling a ritual catch by accident means fishing it up again.
| Offering | Requirement | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Jagged Bone | Doomed mutation | Fishing |
| Poltergeist Perch | Vile mutation | Fishing |
| Skeleton Sturgeon | Grim mutation | Fishing |
| Mummy Mackerel | Boglin, not Shiny or Sparkling | Fishing |
| Corpse Cod | Eldritch mutation | Fishing |
| Coffin Fish | One required | Fishing |
| Dutchman’s Grasp | 25,000 Treats | Dutchman Merchant |
The Jagged Bone’s mutation appears as both “Doom” and “Doomed” depending on where you look. It’s one mutation with two labels, the same split as the skull.
Only a plain Boglin Mummy Mackerel works. A Shiny or Sparkling Boglin Mummy Mackerel won’t satisfy the ritual.
Where to buy the Dutchman’s Grasp
The Dutchman Merchant sells the Grasp aboard the Flying Dutchman, a ship that roams the sky above Caustic Hallow. Look up while you search. It’s a single 25,000-Treat purchase, and you only need one.
Budget Treats for the whole chain, not just the Grasp. Every ritual start costs 100 Treats, including each earlier ritual on the way down, and a Davy Rose adds 5,000 more if a hand asks for one. Saving early keeps your mutated fish from sitting in your inventory while you grind currency.
Complete the ritual and confirm the Dutchman’s Rod unlocked
When the ritual finishes, the Dutchman’s Rod shows up in your rods list with these stats:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 100% |
| Luck | 180% |
| Control | 0.1 |
| Resilience | 10% |
| Max Kg | Unlimited (∞) |
No weight limit plus solid Luck makes it a dependable pick for rare and mutated fish. Low Control and Resilience make it a weaker choice for long fights with heavy catches.
Some stat screens show Lure Speed as -100% instead of 100%. Check the rod’s in-game tooltip before building a fast-casting setup around it.
The Dead Man’s Rod is separate from this quest: Tidefall introduced it, and players craft it at the altar in the Ancient Archives on Ancient Isle. It has no link to Caustic Hallow or the ritual chain.
