Enshrouded 1.0: Best Shroud Adhesive Farm

Kill a few Shroud Flayers in the Nomad Highlands once, then grow them at your base for four Shroud Adhesive per harvest.

Seedbed

Shroud Adhesive is an Uncommon, level 18 material that only drops from Shroud Flayers, the tentacle-like Fell creatures that root themselves inside the Shroud. You can keep diving into the fog for it, but Enshrouded 1.0 offers a better option. Once you have a single piece, you can plant Shroud Flayers at your own base and harvest them as often as you like.

Quick answer: At the Seedbed, use 1 Acidic Mycelium, then 1 Shroud Adhesive, and 1 Shroud Infused Farm Soil to make a Shroud Flayer Seedling. Plant the seedling in Shroud Infused Farm Soil and harvest four Shroud Adhesive.

Shroud Adhesive farm math: Why one seedling pays for itself

The loop works because each seedling uses less adhesive than the plant gives back. You spend one Shroud Adhesive per seedling, and a grown Shroud Flayer returns four Shroud Adhesive on default settings. Every cycle leaves you three pieces ahead, and you can replant from that surplus without going back into the fog.

Shroud Adhesive stacks to 250, so one storage slot holds a large supply once the farm is running. Acidic Mycelium is the one ingredient you still have to gather by hand. It is mined inside the Shroud in Revelwood.

Where to farm your first Shroud Adhesive in the Nomad Highlands

You need one wild drop to start the loop, so you have to make one trip into the Nomad Highlands Shroud. Strengthen the Flame to at least level 4 before you go. With a lower level, the Shroud will kill you before you reach the Flayers.

Fast travel to the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire. Climb it so you have height to glide.
Head south by glider and touch down on the main road, just behind the Elixir Well near Umber Hollow. You’ll be in the Shroud, and the countdown starts.
Follow the paved road and kill the scattered Shroud Flayers along its edges. These give you a few pieces of adhesive before you reach the main cluster.
Take the left branch where the road forks. It opens into a clearing with a heavy green glow and far more Flayers than the road itself. A single sweep here is usually enough to stock several seedlings.

Shroud Flayers stay rooted in place, so ranged damage works well. A staff spell such as Eternal Fireball takes them down without letting you get in their reach.

If the Umber Hollow road is not convenient, Shroud Flayers also spawn in these spots:

  • Northwest of Umber Hollow, where a large group of them sits together
  • Underground, northwest of the Gem Forge
  • The path into the Shroud, west of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire

Shroud Infused Farm Soil: Recipe and the rake trick

Shroud Flayer Seedlings refuse ordinary farm soil. They only take root in Shroud Infused Farm Soil, and that soil is also an ingredient in the seedling itself, so you need it twice. The Farmer makes it in batches of 10 from 5 Chitin Powder, 10 Shroud Sand, and 5 Farm Soil. The recipe appears once you pick up Chitin Powder and Critter Carapace, and the craft has to happen under a roof.

You barely need to craft it more than once. Soil can be stretched with your terrain tools, so a single block turns into a whole plot.

Place one block of Shroud Infused Farm Soil on top of a foundation or similar flat surface with the Construction Hammer.
Use the Advanced Rake to flatten the block and spread the soil texture across the ground around it.
Use your pickaxe to extract the block again. The spread texture remains on the ground while the soil returns to your inventory, leaving you with more than you placed.

Growing and harvesting Shroud Flayers at your base

With adhesive, Acidic Mycelium, and soil in hand, the rest happens at home. The Seedbed comes from the Farmer.

Open the Seedbed and craft a Shroud Flayer Seedling. Each craft produces one seedling, so queue as many as your adhesive allows.
Dim cave with a blue crystalline growth, red vignette, caution warning, status panel and tutorial prompt about locking on and dodging.
A dark Shroud cave in Enshrouded with a CAUTION warning, the combat tutorial prompt and the quest ‘Claim a Spot for Your Base: Reach The Plains’.
Plant the seedlings on the Shroud Infused Farm Soil you spread out. If the game won’t let you place one, you are aiming at regular ground or normal farm soil.
Wait for each seedling to grow into a full Shroud Flayer, then harvest it. Four Shroud Adhesive land in your inventory per plant, which confirms the farm is working.
Turn part of the harvest back into seedlings and replant. With three spare pieces per Flayer, the plot grows a little every cycle until it covers what you need.

What a Shroud Adhesive farm supplies

Shroud Adhesive goes into gear for every class, along with a few tools and materials. Several of these armor pieces need the Flame at level 4 or higher, which is the same level the Nomad Highlands trip requires anyway.

The Extraordinary Glider is the item most likely to drain your stockpile. That is the main reason to get a few rows of Flayers going early rather than relying on one trip into the Highlands Shroud. After the first run, the only regular outside errand left is topping up Acidic Mycelium.
