The 1.0 costs for the Water Well, Improved Water Well and three Water Dispensers, plus all 107 recipes that use Water.

Water is a crafting ingredient in Enshrouded 1.0. Soups, teas, potions, ice spells, coffee and most seedlings all list a Water cost on their crafting cards. You can make water sources at your base.

Quick answer: At the Carpenter, craft a Water Well using 20 Linen, 100 Revelwood Stone and 1 Wooden Bucket, or make one of the three Water Dispensers at the Workbench. Carry water in a Water Pouch, Watering Can or Portable Water Pump. Water is required for 107 recipes.

What changed in 1.0

In 1.0 you make the Water Well at the Carpenter from 20 Linen, 100 Revelwood Stone and 1 Wooden Bucket. You make the Improved Water Well at the Carpenter from 20 Linen, 100 Limestone, 1 Wooden Bucket and 2 Bronze Bars, and it needs Masonry Tools placed nearby. Older guides list plain Stone for the Water Well, and Sandstone plus Iron Bars for the Improved Water Well. Those are not the 1.0 recipes.

Your inventory also determines when these recipes appear. Owning a Wooden Bucket reveals the Water Well recipe; the Carpenter makes one from 2 Wood Planks, 1 Metal Sheets and 1 Charcoal. Masonry Tools in your possession reveal the Improved Water Well recipe.

The Improved Water Well uses the same Carpenter, but swaps the Revelwood Stone for 100 Limestone and adds 2 Bronze Bars. It needs Masonry Tools nearby. Its item text reads “This well is deep enough to tap into even the most hidden water reservoirs. It was improved and can reach the groundwater quicker.”

Water Dispensers at the Workbench

All three Water Dispensers are made at the Workbench, and each recipe appears once you own its key material. Metal Water Dispenser I takes 1 Metal Scraps and 3 Tin Bars (appears with Tin Ore), the Stone Water Dispenser takes 40 Shell Limestone, 4 Steel Bars and 8 Iron Dust (appears with Shell Limestone), and Metal Water Dispenser II takes 8 Archaic Shards (appears with Archaic Shards). The Stone Water Dispenser’s item text reads “This item will dispense water endlessly until it is submerged.”

Carrying and moving water: Pouch, Watering Can, Pump and Irrigation Gates

  • Water Pouch: crafted by hand using 1 Animal Fur. Replenish it at a lake or well.
  • Watering Can: produced by the Blacksmith. Top it up at a lake or well.
  • Portable Water Pump: made at the Blacksmith. Adds and removes water in your base and is filled from a well or lake.
  • Irrigation Gates: made at the Carpenter once you own Tropical Wood. Raise or lower them to control water flow.

The Water Pouch is described this way: “This pouch can be filled at a well or lake. A sip of water helps to recharge your power!” The Watering Can’s description says, “A useful item for watering thirsty flowers and plants.” For the Irrigation Gate Small, the description reads, “This gate can be lowered or raised to control the water flow around it. It’s perfect for gardeners who want an efficient way to water their plants!”

The Portable Water Pump can also soak enemies. Its full item text:

“A tool that allows you to add and remove water in your base. It can also be utilized for irrigation and applying the Wet or Soaked Debuff to enemies. Fill it with water from a well or lake before beginning operation. Wet Reduces Stamina and Stamina Regeneration by 30% for 15 minutes. Warmth reduces the remaining duration. Soaked Reduces Stamina and Stamina Regeneration by 30% for 30 seconds. Also reduces Ice and Shock Resistances by 30% but increases Fire Resistance by 30%. Soaked can be applied to enemies. Soaked duration can not be reduced by warmth, and transitions into the Wet debuff once it ends.”

The Well Block is not a water source

The Well Block (Workbench: 8 Stone, 2 Shroud Liquid) is a building block, not a source of water. Its item text reads “Bathed in waterproofing liquids, this stone block is mostly used for Elixir Wells.” Where the real Elixir Wells are is in our locations guide.
