The Fell Dragon Youngling waits on top of Howling Peak, above Everfrore Keep in the Albaneve Summits. It only appears after you light all 8 Balefires in the quest “Slaying The Corrupted Beast”.
Quick answer: Light all 8 Balefires around the innermost mountain, the last one in Everfrore Keep. Then climb to the top of Howling Peak and fight the Fell Dragon Youngling.
How to wake the Fell Dragon Youngling
The Fell Dragon Youngling is the boss of “Slaying The Corrupted Beast”, a quest in the Albaneve Summits with a recommended level of 34. The quest journal sets out the job and the payoff.
“The Flame has tasked you to slay the corrupted beast that dwells inside Howling Peak. Triumphing over this being will bring peace to the region and enable a new Flame upgrade, allowing Flame Altars to keep the cold at bay when building.”
You can’t walk up and start the fight. The boss stays hidden until every one of the 8 Balefires is burning. These are signal fires that ring the innermost mountain, and the journal is direct about it.
“To wake and draw out the beast, you must light the signal fires (“Balefires”) that circle the innermost mountain.”
The final Balefire is in Everfrore Keep, a town high on the mountain. Every Balefire, with its garrison and enemies, is in all 8 Balefire locations. The quest moves through four steps in this order:
- Reach The First Balefire
- Light The First Balefire
- Find And Light All Balefires
- Challenge The Beast On Howling Peak
When your journal switches to “Challenge The Beast On Howling Peak,” all eight fires are lit and the boss is waiting at the summit.

Howling Peak sits in the middle of the Albaneve Summits, and the route goes through town. The journal says “Howling Peak is best reached by passing through Everfrore Keep.” Since the last Balefire is in Everfrore Keep anyway, you’ll already be on the right path when the quest moves to its final step.
Use these landmarks to find the fight spot at the summit. The Balefire Garrisons, Everfrore Keep and the Return Beacons are all on the map at the top of this guide, and the full interactive Enshrouded map has every other marker.
| Landmark | Fight spot from landmark |
|---|---|
| Everfrore Keep | About 540 m north-east, about 250 m higher |
| Return Beacon | About 195 m east, almost the same height |
| Flame Shrine | About 195 m north |
The Return Beacon sits at nearly the same height as the fight spot. The journal’s last instruction is also a combat hint: “Reach the top of Howling Peak and challenge the beast to a fight! The creature is strong, but not invincible. Some of its attacks can be parried.”
Fell Dragon Youngling drops and quest reward
Every kill drops the same loot, and the quest pays out separately on top of that. See how to get Shroud Cores and Legendary Runes for their other sources.
| Source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Boss kill (every time) | 1 Fell Dragon Youngling Head |
| Boss kill (every time) | 5 Shroud Cores |
| Boss kill (every time) | 12 to 16 Legendary Runes |
| Quest completion | 1 Fell Dragon Youngling Head, 350 XP |
That means your first win gives you 2 heads. The four Hunter trophies below need ten heads in all.

Fell Dragon Youngling Head uses
The Fell Dragon Youngling Head is an Epic material that stacks to 50. Its description reads: “Its head alone weighs a monstrous amount. The shimmering scales are ice-cold. Collect multiple Fell Dragon Youngling Heads to craft the Trophy.” It has two jobs, the Flame upgrade and the Hunter trophies.

Flame Altar upgrade from level 7 to 8
Raising the Flame from level 7 to 8 costs one head plus 40 each of six other materials. Every other level is in Flame Altar upgrade requirements for every Flame level. The journal explains why it matters: “Reclaiming the Albaneve Summits and upgrading the Flame with the beast’s head will enable you to build safely inside the cold!”

| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Fell Dragon Youngling Head | 1 |
| Spark | 40 |
| Obsidian | 40 |
| Silver Bars | 40 |
| Mauveine | 40 |
| Wolfsbane | 40 |
| Amethyst | 40 |
Fell Dragon Youngling Hunter trophies
The four trophies get more expensive with each tier. All of them need 2 Wood Planks and 2 Nails, and the higher tiers add a metal bar.
| Trophy | Heads | Other materials |
|---|---|---|
| Fell Dragon Youngling Trophy | 1 | 2 Wood Planks, 2 Nails |
| Bronze Fell Dragon Youngling Trophy | 2 | 2 Wood Planks, 2 Nails, 1 Bronze Bars |
| Iron Fell Dragon Youngling Trophy | 3 | 2 Wood Planks, 2 Nails, 1 Iron Bars |
| Gold Fell Dragon Youngling Trophy | 4 | 2 Wood Planks, 2 Nails, 1 Gold Bars |

You need ten heads to build all four trophies. Every other boss trophy is in all 20 enemy trophies, and the Fell Cyclops, another Albaneve Summits boss, has a head trophy of its own. With the two heads from your first victory, put one into the Flame level 8 upgrade and use the other on the basic Fell Dragon Youngling Trophy. The Bronze, Iron and Gold versions take more heads than the first win gives you.
