Starting the chapter from Styx’s dock, leaving the village, and the banner-by-banner medallion and pyxis order inside Agamemnon’s mansion.

In Dress To Impress’s Halloween quest, Tales of the Dark King Chapter 2 becomes available once you earn the Chapter 1 badge. It takes you through a memory and a locked village, then into a timed mansion where three medallions and a pyxis open the route below. We have not finished it yet: this guide covers how to start it, the village, and the order the mansion puzzles went in during our group runs.

Quick answer: Claim an unoccupied pad at Styx’s dock, choose Chapter 2 in Configure Lobby, and hit Start. Get out of the village through the locked gate (in our runs another player always opened it; we never saw the key). In the mansion, the banners came in this order: Calchas Medallion, “The bedroom door opened!”, a secret room, Artemis Medallion, the pyxis at the altar, a cutscene, Athena Medallion, then the underground door, all before 7 AM on the clock.

How to start Tales of the Dark King Chapter 2

Chapter 2 needs Chapter 1 finished. Once the Chapter 1 badge is yours, the Configure Lobby panel lists Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 as selectable, while Chapter 3 stays locked. Launch Dress To Impress on Roblox and head to the quest lobby. If you have not reached the quest yet, our guide to starting Tales of the Dark King shows the way in, and our Chapter 1 walkthrough covers the boat crossing you need to finish first.

In the quest lobby, step onto an unoccupied pad at Styx’s dock. The Configure Lobby panel appears with roughly 17 to 20 seconds on its countdown, so act fast.
Select Chapter 2 in the panel. This is the chapter the pad will send everyone to.
Set Max Players anywhere from 1 to 4. A setting of 1 hosts a solo pad.
Press Start. The pad label switches to something like “Chapter 2 / 1/4 Players / Teleports in 19” and counts down while other players step on.

Hosting your own pad and joining someone else’s open Chapter 2 pad both work. When the group is full, the pad shows “Waiting for players… (4/4)”, and on a busy evening a four-player pad fills in about a minute and a half.

The memory, Atropos, and the village gate

After the teleport, the screen reads “You are now in a memory.” You arrive on a dark wooden pier next to the moored, skull-trimmed ferry, with village lamps ahead and Atropos, a woman in white, sitting by a house on the right. Alone, nothing happens until you walk up the pier, which starts her scene. In a group you can vote to skip it with “CLICK ANYWHERE TO VOTE SKIP (n/4)”.

The start of the memory: the pier beside the ferry, with Atropos sitting by a house on the right.

Her monologue sets up the chapter. A few lines carry the plot:

  • “Wait! that necklace…”
  • “Our wagon was attacked near the bridge, then that lunatic used his magic to take my sisters…”
  • “He came to us wanting his fate woven…”
  • “He turned my sisters into these… dolls – and stole our tools. They’re probably in his mansion right now.”

The “he” is Agamemnon. When she finishes, your objective becomes “Find your way out of the village.”

Getting through the gate

The exit is an iron portcullis set into a stone arch, marked with a “Gate / Unlock” prompt. Stacked crates beside it hold a note (“Note / Read”), and an arched wooden door sits to the right. The note says “We locked the gate and threw the key away”, tells you not to go looking for it, and that “Only death waits past that gate.”

We did not see the key. In about 75 minutes of searching alone over three sessions we never found it, and the gate never opened for us. In every group run that got out, another player opened it, and the banner read “<player> opened the gate!” In our runs that came 17 to 45 seconds after the opening scene was skipped. The objective then changes to “Discover what lies beyond the village.”, followed by “<player> found the mansion!” and “The gate closed behind us!”

Village doors and notes

Houses carry a “Door / Knock” prompt, and the people behind them refuse to come out. One answers “Lykos? Is that you?” and then “No… my boy would never knock.” Another hisses “Do you want us both to be taken? Go away!” Other notes around town fill in the curse, including one that starts “Dearest Demetra, A curse has fallen on this town.” and another warning that “Monsters roam this town at midnight.”

Atropos’s chest: a letter, not the key

A small wooden chest sits at Atropos’s feet near her house steps, next to a bottle labelled “Olive Oil”. Step back a little from the “Door / Knock” spot to get the “Chest / Open” prompt. Inside is one rolled scroll named “???”. Use A and D to turn it, E to READ, the ^ and v buttons on the left to scroll the letter, E again to close it, and Q to LEAVE.

The letter is addressed “To the Three, as I do not know how you divide such things.” and signed “Nikias, son of Straton.” It’s a carpenter’s thank-you. The Three once sent him home to talk to his wife instead of leaving her, he rebuilt his workshop so he could stay, and his daughter Klotia is now four. The chest holds no key, the letter says nothing about the gate, and opening it is optional.

Agamemnon’s mansion: objectives and the 7 AM clock

The mansion objectives come in order: “Enter Agamemnon’s mansion.”, then “Discover clues and complete puzzles around the mansion to find a way out.” A clock appears at the top centre, starting at about 00:00 AM, with “Escape the mansion before 7 AM” underneath. The courtyard has lion statues, a colonnade, rectangular pools with tiered fountains and two marble statues, a stone bust on a pedestal, lattice doors, and stairs up to a balustraded gallery.

In our runs the clock moved at roughly one in-game hour every 2 real minutes, so you get around 14 to 15 real minutes from arrival before 7 AM. “HURRY.” shows up under the clock from 06:03 AM. When the mansion was still unsolved at 07:00 AM, our run ended on the “ITS NOT EASY.” death screen. We did not see what the other players’ screens showed.

Mansion puzzle order: medallions, pyxis, and underground door

Each puzzle step showed a banner on our screen, even when another player in the group did it. In our runs another player did every one of these steps, so this is the order of the banners, pieced together from several group runs. Clock times are from our runs and shift from run to run. Where each clue and medallion is found is not covered here, because we have not seen it yet.

2“The Calchas Medallion has been unlocked!”—
3“<player> placed the Calchas Medallion!”01:04 AM
4“The bedroom door opened!”01:07 AM
5“A secret room reveals itself…”About 01:58 AM
6“<player> placed the Artemis Medallion!”02:30 AM
7“<player> placed the pyxis!”02:47 AM

9“The Athena Medallion has been unlocked!”—
10“<player> placed the Athena Medallion!”02:50 AM
11“<player> walked through the underground door!”About 02:50–03:00 AM

In one run the banner “The bedroom door opened!” came three in-game minutes after the Calchas Medallion was placed. In an earlier run we also saw “The pyxis case unlocked!” and “The pyxis has entered your inventory.”, along with a clipped line, “[Agamemnon]: I… can see you. Meddling in my…” Once the pyxis goes down, the camera cuts to an ornate stone altar on a dais between black urns, framed by red carpet and white columns with red curtains. The small lidded urn sits on top, and a scrap of paper on the floor to the right reads “XXIII”.

A skippable cutscene follows on a red-lit balcony. Agamemnon, a tall horned figure with a glowing orange chest, stands with Nestra, a woman in a long dress with a pale, mask-like face. You’ll hear “Nestra, make yourself…” and “…and have them watch until it stops beating.”

Near the end the objective reads “Escape through the secret underground door!” After the banner “<player> walked through the underground door!”, the whole group moved underground.

The underground and the crawler

The underground section shifts to first person, with a black flashlight held along the left edge of the screen. You begin in a vaulted stone dungeon containing iron-barred cells and braziers; an arched stone doorway stands to the cells’ left. Past it, cramped corridors lead by crates stacked with candles and an urn, then to stone stairs. Subtitles appear in this order: “awaken…”, “it hunts at night”, and “it sees you…hide”.

Then the creature shows up: a pale, bald, mask-like face, long dark hair, and long black clawed fingers, crawling on its belly toward you. We died 4 of 4 times underground, 3 of them within seconds of the “it sees you…hide” line, and standing still got us killed within about ten seconds. How to hide from it is not something we have seen yet.

Getting caught brings up the same “ITS NOT EASY.” screen as the 7 AM deadline, with “Revive (n)” and “Return To Lobby?” Revive asks for Robux; we never used it and chose Return To Lobby each time.

We are still playing Chapter 2. These parts have not happened on our screen yet, so this guide does not cover them:

  • Where the gate key is, and how to unlock the gate on your own.
  • Where each clue is and what it shows, where each medallion is found and where it is placed, and where the pyxis case and the secret room are.
  • How to hide from the crawler, how to survive the underground, and the way out.
  • How Chapter 2 ends, any Chapter 2 badge, item reward or code, and whether Chapter 3 unlocks after it.
  • What the other players see when the clock reaches 7 AM.

FAQ

How do you unlock Chapter 2 of Tales of the Dark King?

Finish Chapter 1. After the Chapter 1 badge, Configure Lobby on Styx’s dock let us pick Chapter 2, while Chapter 3 stayed locked.

Where is the key to the village gate?

We have not seen it. The note at the gate says the key was thrown away, and in our runs another player always opened the gate. We will add the spot once we see it ourselves.

Is the key in Atropos’s chest?

No. The chest holds one scroll, a thank-you letter signed “Nikias, son of Straton.”, and a bottle labelled “Olive Oil” sits beside it. Nothing in it is about the gate.

What order do the mansion puzzles go in?

The banners came in this order in our runs: Calchas Medallion unlocked and placed, “The bedroom door opened!”, “A secret room reveals itself…”, Artemis Medallion placed, the pyxis placed at the altar, the Agamemnon and Nestra cutscene, Athena Medallion unlocked and placed, then the underground door.

What happens at 7 AM in the mansion?

“HURRY.” appears under the clock from 06:03 AM. At 07:00 AM, with the mansion unsolved, our run ended on the “ITS NOT EASY.” death screen.

Can you play Chapter 2 solo?

You can host a pad with Max Players set to 1, and the chapter starts. Alone, we never got out of the village, because we never found the key.

How do you survive the crawler underground?

Not seen yet. Every time we reached the underground we died, mostly within seconds of “it sees you…hide”.
