Bai Chilian has two full health bars back to back. The first is labelled “BAI CHILIAN, LADY OF THE TWIN SERPENTS” and the second “BAI CHILIAN, THE SACRIFICIAL SERPENT”. On Pathbreaker, the default difficulty, Soul starts with 1,020 max HP and three healing gourds, and a few of her strings in a row can take most of that bar. Wayfarer cuts her damage by about 30 percent.

In the Crimson Forest, Bai Chilian is found in the flower meadow beyond the Threadbound Great Tree bell; dying sends you back to that bell. The arena stretches beneath a massive, gnarled tree draped in long threads, with pale blue flowers and mist across the field. Entering starts an intro cutscene, and combat begins as soon as it finishes, so be ready at the controls. Her place among the other bosses is in the full list of bosses.

During the battle, an on-screen reminder says that pressing 1 changes weapons and replenishes Sha-Chi to full.
Phase 1: Lady of the Twin Serpents
Bai Chilian’s first form attacks at speed and keeps up the pressure. She strings moves together with barely any pause, often rushing in from a distance to begin a sequence. Many of her cuts land roughly half a second to less than a second after she begins, ahead of what their animations imply. Begin parrying with her first movement rather than waiting for the blade to approach.
Crescent sweep
At close range, she turns through a sweeping attack that sends a broad white crescent around her, with red ribbons trailing the blade. Avoid attacking into the spin; hold guard and parry.

Ribbon double-cut
Two quick cuts with the ribbons lashing out. The first lands about 0.65 seconds in, the second about 1.25 seconds in. Each costs about 60 HP on Pathbreaker or 40 HP on Wayfarer. Parry both and keep guarding through the second, because a late guard lets it slip through.

Leaping slash
She leaps and brings the long blade down toward Soul, hitting roughly 1 second after takeoff and dealing about 80 HP on Wayfarer. Time a parry for her landing, or dodge sideways to leave the impact area.

Fast lunging thrust
Because she repeats this attack so often, it causes the most damage across the fight. She rushes forward and delivers two cuts: the first lands around 0.6 to 0.8 seconds after the start, followed by the second at about 1.3 seconds. Their damage is roughly 95 and 120 HP on Pathbreaker, and 65 and 80 HP on Wayfarer. Start parrying as soon as she advances.
Quick single cuts and strings
You can deflect most of her fast single cuts and many of her strings; a successful parry sends sparks from the blades. Taking one single cut costs around 95 HP on Pathbreaker. Keep guard up between sequences, parry the individual cuts, and wait for her to retreat before counterattacking.

Twin serpent summon
Huge serpents erupt from the earth and strike toward Soul, with each hit dealing about 65 HP on Wayfarer. Move away from their emergence points, then dodge sideways when a serpent lunges.

Dark whirl
A serpent rises like a pillar as she whirls amid dark ribbons. The hits send Soul backward, deal around 65 HP on Wayfarer, and arrive just under a second after the attack begins. Get clear of the spinning area with a dodge.

Blade flurry
She unleashes a quick series of light cuts, each dealing about 10 to 25 HP on Wayfarer, then follows with a powerful final cut at roughly the 2-second mark for about 80 HP. A held guard is broken by that finisher. Block the lighter hits, then parry or dodge the final strike.
Power lunge
She makes a forceful lunge that sends Soul reeling, connecting about 1 second after she begins, or sooner if it comes during a string. The hit deals roughly 120 HP on Pathbreaker and 80 HP on Wayfarer. Guard cannot absorb it; dodge away.
Red-flash strike
A fast cut comes first, followed by a red flash and an unparryable second blow. The two hits deal around 65 and 50 HP on Wayfarer. Evade immediately after the flash appears.
Phase 2: The Sacrificial Serpent
Once the first health bar is depleted, a cutscene shows Bai Chilian surrendering herself to the serpents. Her second bar appears at full health. The sky turns red and the field pink, with red threads descending across the arena. Her new form is a mass of serpent coils.
Serpent coils
Serpent bodies coil around her and lash at Soul from nearby in succession. Parry the attacks you can anticipate, and keep your guard up between blows.

Spinning serpent ring
She lifts into the air, spinning within a circle of serpent bodies, then falls back to the ground. Retreat during the spin and dodge when she descends.

Crawling serpent form
Dropping close to the ground, she races across the field on serpent coils that act as long legs, covering distance quickly. You cannot outrun her; turn to guard or dodge as she closes on Soul.

Serpent burst
Glowing teal serpents and red ribbons explode out around her and sweep across the field. Get out to range as soon as it starts.

Phase 2 still has red-flash attacks. Dodge those and parry everything else.
Tips for the Bai Chilian boss fight
- Parry most of her cuts; dodge the red flash, the power lunge, the heavy last cut of her flurry and the dark whirl.
- Her cuts land early, so start the parry as soon as she moves, not when the blade looks close.
- Drink when she is far away, immediately after one of her strings finishes. She leaves little room to act at close range, and each gourd restores about 400 HP.
- Save gourds for phase 2 where you can, since a second full bar follows the first.
- When Sha-Chi is nearly spent, press 1 to switch weapons and restore it.
- Phantom Edges hit her hard, so spend your Remnant Spark here.
- You can alter the difficulty whenever you like; choosing Wayfarer reduces the damage from her attacks by about 30 percent. Her attack set does not change.

The weapon card for White Serpent & Crimson Viper describes the pair like this:
“A nimble, graceful short blade paired with a sinuous, powerful long blade. Together, they dance like twin serpents, shifting through endless variations.”
The Crimson Viper’s Standard Combo uses three left clicks for a sequence of quick strikes. Press F twice for the Sha-Chi Combo, which swings the White Serpent long blade. Alternating left click and F in either sequence triggers Twin Serpent Dance, a repeating combo that gains damage for as long as it continues. The card ends with the question “Equip the new weapon now?” Once the fight is over, the story proceeds to the Village of Lu.
