Quick answer: At the tavern, find the courtyard with wine jars and pull the lion-head ring set into the stone post beside the pavilion stairs. This opens the pavilion floor. Drop into the brazier room and follow its route to the stone gate, where Myst is waiting.

Where the Order’s tavern is

The tavern is in Pangzhen, during the main quest TOWN OF DEATH. You reach it after the Blaze, Shadow Warden Captain fight, when the quest points you toward the backstreets. It is a large two-storey hall with stone lion statues out front.

At the front steps, Soul spots two green lanterns that glow without any flame and works out that this is the Order’s tavern. That is when the objective “Enter the Order’s underground tavern” appears. The closest bell is Marketplace, about 75 metres from the tavern steps.

Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden (62,900 HP) guards the street leading to the tavern gate with two mounted spearmen. He is optional and only wakes when you walk into his stretch of street. The quest does not require you to beat him.

How to open the way into the underground tavern

Go through the tavern gate to reach a courtyard filled with wine jars and racks. A pavilion occupies its centre. There are no enemies here, giving you time to explore.

As you enter, pay attention to Soul’s remarks. He notices a wine rack placed unusually neatly in the courtyard’s centre and says the earth below the pavilion sounds hollow. These clues indicate the concealed switch.
Among the wine jars by the pavilion stairs, locate a stone post fitted with a ring shaped like a lion’s head. Approach until the E prompt appears.

Press E. Soul grabs the ring and pulls it.

Watch the pavilion floor slide aside to reveal an opening into a room below. The map marker for the objective sits in that room.
Drop down through the opening.

The brazier room under the pavilion

You drop into a shadowy chamber containing circular moon gates and a line of lit braziers.

At one end, a red altar table holds a shining pickup. Collect it to receive Polished Forged Metal + 7; a “Polished Forged Metal + 7” toast will appear.

Continue along the braziers until you reach the final one. Just beyond it, a corner opening leads upward to the tavern’s stone gate.

Meeting Myst and the next objective

Approaching the stone gate starts a cutscene. A woman named Myst invites Soul to have a drink, and the two talk about weapons and whether a weapon can carry memories. She calls a weapon more than a tool, then waves it off as a craftswoman’s idle thought.

When the scene ends, Soul is at Myst’s table in the tavern. She gives you three conversation options:

  • “About the Illusory Pipa”, concerning the Broken Illusory Pipa
  • “About the Boatmaster and Meigu Lake”
  • “Soul Temper”, where you spend Phantom Edge Soul Tempering materials such as the Thunder Core (the Soul Tempering guide lists every upgrade in the menu)
Soul sits across from Myst at her table in the Order's tavern, with the talk options About the Illusory Pipa, About the Boatmaster and Meigu Lake, and Soul Temper

You know the step is done when the Town of Death objective changes to “Pass through the tavern’s passage into the backstreet”.

Myst’s Tavern bell and the books in the tavern

The tavern has its own bell, Myst’s Tavern, but it sits in a side room that is easy to miss. From the main hall, look for the doorway with a red carpet and red threads wound round a pillar at the hall’s back corner, beyond the carved wooden panels. Walking straight at the panels gets you nowhere: follow the red-carpet corridor around the pillar and it opens into a small shrine room lit in red, with an altar, statues and the crane-shaped bell. Press E to ring it.

Its menu, headed “Myst’s Tavern”, lists Traverse, Upgrade Equipment, Store, Train Abilities, Save and Leave, and the bell sits right beside the Marketplace bell on the Pangzhen map. Resting here for the first time plays a memory of a young Soul with Zuo Shang in a bamboo grove, about a map left by their master that may lead to the truth about Soul’s bloodline. The full bell list is in the Phantom Blade Zero bells guide.

Three books are in the tavern. “The Order: The Secret Tavern” lies by the door, and “Reflections: The Bastion of Mó” and “Reflections: The Long Clan” are in the bell’s shrine room, one of them on the altar. Each one also gives about 1,600 Remnant Dust.
