How to reach Pangzhen from the Hidden Passage bell

Pangzhen lies beyond the Village of Lu, and reaching it requires taking the Smuggler’s Tunnel. At the tunnel’s end, the Hidden Passage to Pangzhen bell sits against the rock on a plank platform, marked by a red-cloth cross and flanked by braziers. Lan Shaodi’s quest, Young Master Lan, sends you along this route as well: after his business proposition, its objective reads “Meet Lan Shaodi at his manor in Pangzhen”.

Starting at the bell, climb the plank ramps behind the deck.

The ramps reach a wooden shack with a barred door. Get right up to the door before pressing E; the prompt won’t appear until you’re standing beside it.

The memory and cinematic behind the barred door

Opening the door launches a memory at a bamboo dock above a lotus pond. Uncle Zhong gives Zuo Shang a map marking Shadow Sovereign Mu’s retreat, where Mu practices swordsmanship, and asks him to bring it to Master Soul. Their conversation covers the Long Clan sword art’s demand for tight Sha-Chi control, Mu’s taking of the Golden Mask at the Bastion of Mo to keep his bloodline’s Sha-Chi in check, and his founding of the Order to uphold Wulin rules.

The scene shifts to Pangzhen, where rain falls over tiled rooftops and red lanterns beneath heavy storm clouds. “One Day Before” appears on screen.

A glowing Golden Mask and a crouching rooftop figure come into view as Uncle Zhong informs Zuo Shang that Master Soul has arrived in Pangzhen, apparently restored to strength by the Flesh Sculptor’s Tainted Heart. Zuo Shang sees a chance to act.

Hidden Storehouse bell and the Town of Death quest

When control returns, you’re beside Pangzhen’s first bell, the Hidden Storehouse. It stands in a stone storeroom filled with wine jars, where a torch-lit corridor begins. The menu displays the area’s name and provides these options:

  • Traverse
  • Upgrade Equipment
  • Store
  • Train Abilities
  • Save
  • Leave

Town of Death begins as your new main quest, directing you to “Enter the central area of Pangzhen”. The quest alert appears beside the bell menu, confirming your arrival. Rest at the bell to make it your respawn point and add it to the destinations in Traverse.

Then the bell menu appears, headed “Abandoned Wine Cellar”, with the same Traverse, Upgrade Equipment, Store, Train Abilities, Save and Leave options as the first bell. The bells guide covers how bells work and where the others are. Rest here before you move on, because enemy groups guard the streets around this alley.
