Quick answer: Lanlan and Ju on the Thieves’ Camp bridge start the tale. Meng’s trail leads to the mountain lodge, about 72 m from the Cliffside Lodge bell: open the secret room with the Secret Chamber Crank and talk to the Severely Wounded Baishan Disciple.

How to start Secrets of the Baishan Sect

At the far end of the bridge into the Thieves’ Camp in the Crimson Forest, you’ll find Ju and Lanlan. Follow the Thieves’ Camp route to reach them, then speak with each. Lanlan’s E prompt appears only when you’re right beside her, so move closer if it doesn’t appear.

Lanlan asks Soul to rescue Junior Sister Meng. Maskwalkers now surround the mountain lodge, and Meng is trapped in the tunnel beneath it.

Finding Junior Sister Meng at the mountain lodge

This objective requires two cranks, which you use one after the other. Meng’s location is roughly 72 m from the Cliffside Lodge bell.

Use the Crimson Forest Cellar Crank to open the storehouse cellar. This gets you into the space below.
Use the Secret Chamber Crank to open the hidden room off the cellar. The Severely Wounded Baishan Disciple is inside.

Speak with the Severely Wounded Baishan Disciple. She gives Soul no choices in the conversation and says seeing her master again is her final wish.

Once the conversation ends, a banner appears with “Find Junior Sister Meng at the mountain lodge” struck through. That confirms the objective is complete.

All Secrets of the Baishan Sect objectives

These are the tale’s objectives as the game lists them, with the nearest bell for each spot.

  • “Search the Mandate Encampment for the Baishan Sect Leader”: about 51 m from the Path of the Baishan’s Fall bell.
  • From the Behind the Encampment Waterfall bell, the objective, “Examine Bi Taotao’s body”, is roughly 124 m away.
  • The objective, “Defeat Bi Taotao’s puppet form”, is roughly 84 m from the Training Grounds Depths bell.
  • The Cliffside Lodge bell is roughly 72 m from the objective, “Find Junior Sister Meng at the mountain lodge”.

Bi Taotao’s puppet version is Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet, and a spear puppet fights alongside it. Beating that fight earns the Baishan Stormswords; the Illusory Pipa Backplate is also located in that arena.

Have the objective “Defeat Bi Taotao’s puppet form” active before you fight Yubi. With it active the fight also gives Broken Vessel and finishes the tale. Kill Yubi without that step and the tale fails, with no Broken Vessel; the Baishan Stormswords still come either way. Do the search and body steps first.
